  • Anyone elses insurance on the up?

Just got my insurance renewal with aami - over the last 2 years it has increased $100/year. Currently its 850/year for a 27 year old, rating 1 and no accident history. Insured only for market value at $16 500.

I think the ralliart must be getting a real bad reputation for being crashed.

As a comparison the 24 year old gf, also rating 1 only pays $650/year for her r34 gt-t manual, insured for $20 500....

Not making too much sense personally...

Only renew mine late last year for $900+ for market value of 20K+ (sorry, can't remember the exact figures) I think its expected. Its cheap as chip, because insurance company don't really know what it was at the beginning. But i don't think we have heard too many crashed stories on RColt......at least on this forum. Also, i think each insurance company maintain their own figures (like how many car makes/model they have been insuring and how much percentage of claim's made on that car make/model) Thing to note is, there isn't much people that uses AAMI for imported cars.

AAMI is the cheaper mainstream insurer to just cars. The gf is with just cars... doesn't really make a great deal of sense.
Essentially I think its a little odd because:
      1. Im older than her and have 5 years more driving history
      2. Its not a grey import
      3. Mines not modified, hers is making an extra 40kw
      4. R34 'should' be a higher risk car, unless some numpty's are crashing colts somwhere.

Its not really a quick car, its not a grey import and I haven't heard of any being stolen so it doesn't make much sense.

There have been a few crashes and insurance claims as seen on here though.

its a factory of more of them crashed AND insurance companies trying to recover from natural disasters.

Also I pay $1300ish for a 26yo male with no at fault claims ever.

You should feel lucky at that :P

          Mine was $550 for year 1 @ $30,000

Year 2 was marginally more (still under $600 I think) for high 20s...

Can't remember what year 3 was but it was the expected increase and decrease... $600ish and mid 20k... I'll try and dig up the policy...

Just wait till you are in your mid to late thirties, insurance is only approx $400-500 for the rcolt (Shannons), I think mainstream insurance companies suck and will pass on increases at the drop of a hat (i.e. overseas disasters, oil rigs exploding, hail storms etc etc). I have always been with specialised companies, whether be for 4WD's or modded cars.

I just have no desire to own a 10-15 year old car at that point in time

I'm 21 and for market value on an 09 i'm paying 792 a year, 10% more than last year......Despite obviously having another year driving experience. But i also moved to a slightly bigger town so im putting the increase down to either that, or a few people have totalled their RCOLT

Jesus christ, under a grand for insurance? I'm 23, have been driving for 7 years, no crashes, no claims. The only company that would touch me was justcar, and thats $1400 a year, with a fucking 3 grand excess.

Full comprehensive I'd say, especially if under finance.
