hey guys i just recently went onto the suzuki swift sport forum mainly just out of boredom and curiousity.. Some of their members really have no idea about cars.. they where talking about our rcolts and comparing cars.. realising their car in inferiour to ours they where saying things like "swifts are way better than colts.. if we had a turbo we would smash them".
they then went on to say " if you compare our swift to the stock colt ours wins hands down. the colt only has 74kw ".. this prompted me to laugh so hard i wee'ed myself a little bit.. some where even saying their seats where better than recaros.. hahahahahahaha.. funny poor misguided people who no doubt wish they had bought rcolts..

haha a few swift drivers in wanneroo must be on the forum. There persistently trying to battle the rcolt only to be lost in a cloud of dust. Best one is when they thrash it and you sit beside them cruising in 2nd then flat floor haha. There's alot of forums like that. On perth cruise on sunday will show all the hot hatches which manufacturer leads the pack.

By all accounts, stock Swift Sports outcorner stock RColts.

If you do a Youtube search you can find a couple of compact car race videos done in Japan that feature a Colt Ralliart Version-R Special, with the continuous seam welding and an LSD, a Suzuki Swift Sport, a version of the Honda Fit (Jazz) that we don't have in Australia and a Daihatsu Boon (Sirion) X4. The Japanese driver Seiji Ara drove the Swift in both races and had a lot of praise for it being able to corner hard. In the video from his on-board cam you can see the Swift gaining on the other cars on the corners.

The RColt did win both races though - it just had much more grunt than the other cars and was able to put it down properly due to the LSD.

If the Colt had been an AUDM model with no LSD and not the extra 10% torsional rigidity the seam welding apparently affords, I think that the outcomes might not have been the same.

It's not up to us to poke fun at other forums, it's certainly not going to get any of us anywhere.

The moderators on this site have worked pretty hard to keep rcolt.com's image squeaky clean and bagging out other people on other forums really isn't going to help.

Although I don't totally disagree with what you're saying, I don't want to the forum or the members on it to be branded as idiots like you've just done to theirs. Not cool.
i only said some of their members.. most where ok.. but then why is it ok for members on here to bag out others rcolt members.. we dont always have to be so touchy.. it was just a bit of fun and banter..i agree they corner well i just thought it was funny they tried to compare to stock colt.. which is silly..

fair enough.. just thought it would be interesting to discuss.. i mean the amount of times people bag out commodores and commodore drivers on here is way more then a little poke at suzuki swifts.. and the swift is the colts competition.. we want more people to buy the rcolt not support swifts.. it wont help our rcolt community..

I would like to state this. In ALL of these jap hatch battles the compitition to our cars are ALL modified. The jazz by js racing and one by hks, the swift by monster and also by sunline racing, the trd yaris, the turbo mazda 2 and so on. Our car... Yes our car in the 1st video was the ver r special witch took on the boon x4, hks jazz, monster swift and trd yaris was factory... I repeat factory tuned. In the video where a tuned rcolt (yr-advance) was raced with the sunline swift, turbo mazda 2, js racing fit and the rx8, it was the ONLY car modified without an LSD. So put the facts to facts when you actually have the right ones. Yes the swift can pust the corners fast but ours can match it with morepower. Dont forget the sunline swift was also supercharged and with LSD vs the yr colt with only suspension mods n no LSD. I pretty much rest my case. Sorry for any typos but i'm on the iphone

having sold our swift GTi for our Colt Ralliart, i like suzukis.
but we didnt even bother test driving the swift sport because on paper it didnt compare with the colt polo or the fiesta.

Also i'm sure ryan will explain. But we have a few swift sports members here. Bantering about how bad or ill informed their members are is not on nor does it make our forum any better. Respect others so you get respected in return

i didnt bag all their members just the couple with those silly quotes.. and as i have said its ok for everyone to bag out certain australian cars (hence bagging out a vast majority of people)..the reason the colt isnt selling is because people obviously believe swifts are better hence why they sell more.. i am trying to point out imo opinion we have a better car.. it will be sad but its a reality they might not build an rcolt anymore..

i think the mods here let the banter about the v8 guys go because they already have a large community and lots of support for thier cars. when it comes to the other hot hatches/ricers they like us to show solidarity and freindship so we can learn and develop together...

although you can probably generalise that swift owners arent quite as hardcore petrolheads as some of the guys on here. we are very lucky in that we have quite a few guys here who have a lot of experience with modifying and trackwork. the rcolt seems to have lured quite a few guys (and gals) from s14/skyline/older evo type cars to something newer. also there is a few people who might have the colt as second cars, partly due to the low runnign costs and practicality.

Let it be said that I greatly enjoy my RColt and am glad that I got it. I feel that it is overall superior to the Swift and look forward to getting more out of it over time.

I just think that we must be careful not to adopt the blinkered mindset that the Colt is better than all other cars in its class in every situation.

I have a mate with a Fiesta XR4 and am encouraging another mate of mine to get a Polo GTi for a bit of friendly competition and variety.
