I'm in North East Victoria, I ended up going red, real hard decision to make, even though I didnt get to see a red one in the flesh, i think I'm gonna like it.
Finding it hard to sleep, work, talk to the misses, hang on forget the last one, I just cant wait to pick it up.

I was tossing up between a few different cars, basicaly all in the same kind of price range, when it came down to it, I felt like the colt was gonna give me the best bang for my buck. Currently driving a Getz::eek:

That would be good. I can't tell you how its killing me waiting for it. Hoping it will be ready next week.

A drive through some hills would be fun, I live close to the Buffalo, Buller etc, but I would be happy to go further south if thats suits others.

B.T.W Julz, Not sure if you noticed, I'm the guy that was with Dan when you were there last Saturday taking yours for a drive. Small world, even in the city, lol.

I decided to put down the deposit straight away because 1 guy had just test driven it and then it went out again for a second drive with a different guy :P
The demo fit my budget well so i was happy to take it

I live just 4 km north of Gelnrowan. There are some great roads not too far from here, even better ones where you are. So yeh, if you plan a trip up here let me know, I'd like to join you if the timing is right. Anyone else interested? 3 or more rcolts up the hills would look real good.

I mentioned to McCoy when I was in the showroom that one of the things I really like about our car is that rarely you see one on the road, actualy I'd never seen one before. Anyway as I was heading home down Dandenong road I pulled up at the lights next to one same colour as mine:confused:

I'll post some pics in the next few days, yes another addition to the reds.

I'm sooooo happy with it Dan, thanks.

The drive home was great, actualy there might have been a bit of brown cotton action, but it was due to me not being used to city driving. Once I reached the hills it was so dam good. The car has 380km on the clock after one day, going to Albury today theres another 250 or so, I'll have to book it in for the 1500 real soon, lol.

What a car:D

Good stuff! How is the cruise control? That should make the long hauls easier to deal with. ;)

It works fine, you were right about the angle that its mounted on. Makes it a little hard to reach, but I'm getting used to it. I'll post some pics shortly for others to see.

How much is the cruise control fitted? Aftermarket fitment I gather?:)

It cost me $750.00 and it is aftermarket,"AUSCRUISE by Autron" if anyone is interested I have the fitters details.

It has a couple of nice features, such as, when in cruise mode, it puts the throttle into idle when the clutch is depressed then after you shift up or down it resumes automaticaly. It also has an overspeed alarm you can set if you are not using cruise. Maybe these features are standard on other brands too, not sure.

McCoy
08-12-2007, 01:52 PM
Yup, its a better system. Wheel mounted, gear change resume (which many cruise's dont have in a manual) and the overspeed chime. Its a good unit, the 'only' issue is the colt s/wheel as its very curvy so its hard to mount the cruise on the wheel in that perfect location.

I'm picky, and I can see there isnt any other way you could do it, but it is located on a funny angle because of the curve. Sure, you can just move your hand once to set it, and thats better than getting a stiff leg/foot/ankle for the next 3 hours while doing a big drive, which IMO is a small price to pay, but once again, it is in a weird place.

Glad to see you like it dave. I'd fit cruise too, just for those weekends where I'm driving up from Melbourne to Winton. ;)

Would be good if you could post some pics of the unit when you get a chance!:)

i saw 8 colts in a row today!

A couple of photo's of the cruise control. Sorry but photo quality's not so good.

I drove to Albury today about 250km return. At first I found the location of the controller a bit weird. The problem is that you can't really reach it with a finger without lifting your hand of the wheel slightly. You'll probably see what I mean from the side view. Its not too big a deal in my opinion now, I'm getting more used to it and I dont think it will bother me.

Corosith

Looks like a good setup, that positioning probably wouldn't worry me much, as I have more of a problem of beeping the horn accidently whilst accelerating hard! Probably happens because the horn pad is so close to the edge of the steering wheel!!:D

whats the uninstalled cost of this unit?
anyone got an idea how hard it is to install?

McCoy
10-12-2007, 12:03 AM
Macca, this is somthing I wouldnt attempt to install myself. Half the dash comes out to fit the cruise, ask RRR he saw his car half way through having the cruise fitted amd it wasnt pretty. ALOT more work goes into the install than you would think, so just keep that in mind.

I was flicking through the forum and thought I'd dig this up again. Is there an instruction manual that comes with the cruise control unit? I understand this may require some degree of technical competency to fit but what was the end price of the unit? With fuel prices etc these days, I'm keen to see what the damage is on a decent aftermarket CC unit for my colt. I do about 500km per week, and some sections are just 90kph stretches of long roads.
