The colt is standard at present (except for Sparco gearknob), but have ordered white-machined lip 18inch rims, replacement springs, ralliart stickers, greddy boost guage, K&N filter, sequntial shift light for mounting on the steering column and bee-sting replacement aerial. Would like to look into fitting an intercooler (ex-vr4 maybe), and something that every evo needs - an oil cooler kit! Shall post more photos as things get fitted. :)

Very nice. Welcome to the club. Oil cooler is one of my most mod in the future. Macca and i were thinking, since we can use a Evo's oil filter, then more than likely, we can use the same oil cooler kit. Maybe you can be our first voluteener to find it out :p

Haven't actually got the panel filter yet, it is on order through Autobahn, Mt Barker, might set aside time this weekend to hard wire and mount the shift light and boost guage - time just seems to fly these days! Wheels & springs may have to be postponed till monday now due to damn work committments:rolleyes:
As for the colour I think red or white are the more traditional ralliart colours, used to have a black Suzuki Gti and was forever washing the thing!

hey corosith, id be keen to see some pics of the shift light your putting in, as i was looking at them awhile back.
for the intercooler setup, trust / greddy have one out at the mo, and a euro tuner has one out as well. both are pretty straight forward installs.
Keep us updated on your progress.

No worries, can do! I'm a bit more of a stealth tuner so things will be installed in sensible places where they will not attract unwarranted attention and be relatively street legal (no guages mounted on bonnets or that sort of bling:rolleyes: )

hey guys and girls nic to see im not the only one doing mods.
I have already put new had deck and amp to power up a 15" sub in the boot, also fitted an extra pocket above the deck and put a boost/vacume guage in to match the cluster panel, the turbosmart (evo) BOV bolts stright in and matches the rocket cover and with the wxtra wirring i had from the amp i made a EARTHING kit to the block, chassie, bodie and back to the batt (it looks mad), i also put a sun shade sticker on the wind screan saying "MIVEC mitsubishi motors" on it with black slimline weather shields. ill up load photos tomorrow

Hi all,
I have fitted the greddy mechanical boost gauge as per the supplied pics, below the air-con controls as it is out of the way from prying eyes whilst still being visible to the driver.
The gauge holder is screwed and double-sided taped to the single DIN spacer hence avoiding drilling into any major dash plastics, and the vaccum hose runs out through a hole drilled in the back of the spacer. In the process of pulling the dash apart, I located the AUX cable for the stereo - at a later date I will run this to the glove box with an extension cable and permanently mount it there. Must say thanks to all those guys who posted pics and comments on how to pull the dash apart, it made the job so much easier!;)
The Hyperform shift light controller will also live alongside the boost gauge, but as an afterthought, I might also shift the boost gauge to the right and angle it up to the driver a little more. The actual shift light which has 4 sequential red LED's will be mounted on the steering column with the cable routed back behind the dash to the back of the single DIN spacer (very similar to the shift lights seen on the WRC rally cars!).
Will be getting 18 inch rims and lowered springs fitted tomorrow - can't wait! I shall post some pics for you tomorrow night!
Please see the attached pics,
Cheers, Chris!

When you post a reply, just scroll down the page below the message box to the button "manage attachements" in the additional options section. Enter here then click on browse if you have photos on your computer, select the desired photo then click upload. Just enure that the photo isn't rediculously huge, but this page will show you what is an acceptable file size. You can always click on preview post if you want to check out what the photos look like, hope that helps a bit!:)
RE the gauges, the ultimate setup would be the ralliart or dephi triple set for the single DIN mount, ralliart price it at a rediculous ~$2000+, but have seen the non-ralliart defi version for $650au on ebay. This is the reason for not mangling any of my dash plastics so I can upgrade in the future with this factory looking set of gauges.
Cheers

althought the ralliart/defi set looks the good (as in, integrated with the dash), but in reality, they are too small for any quick reference. hence, i would still prefer a set of decent 60 mm gauges

Just some quick snaps of my new wheels, I think it sets off the red duco very well, pity the lighting wasn't more favourable! It looks a little low in some pics, but then again it's more due to the lie of the land and the weight of 4 rcolt wheels and springs in the back of the car.

Just found out this arvo that my K&N filter has arrived at autobahn, so I look forward to fitting it & see how it goes compared to the ralliart filter - I will try & post some pics once again!

Hi Hendo, yes I did get them at wheel worx ,they were very helpful unlike some other places which didn't seem too interested in the car (their loss!:p ). If I do the exhaust, it will only be from the rear muffler to the resonator, and also have it flanged so I can easily swap it over with the original.

Looks good - not too obious for mr plod, would look even better if you had a sheet of carbon fibre to cover across the spare DIN pocket, and mount the gauge in that - shouldn't cost much, and would look smick!:D I would need to replace my head unit before going down that path.:)

Hi there lovecolt,
the 18" rims really fill out the guards nicely, and do not foul up against any of the guards, also look nice and wide (wider track - good offset). We were going to go with king springs but had to make do with Pedder sports springs due to lack of stock. Quite suprised with the results really (considering some of the posted comments about them), the ride is not quite as firm and crashy as the ralliart springs, but they load up nicely around corners and with the wider track the turn in seems a lot better - less understeer (could be due to lower centre of gravity). The steering wheel is also a lot easier to turn from a standstill.
She looks like a real tarmac rally monster now!

Please tell me they're real Volk's and not Vork Ravs?
Corosith
04-09-2007, 09:37 PM
No they are not real volks, bit too expensive for my liking and most probably come in the wrong offset! Suprisingly for an 18" wheel, they are much lighter than the standard 16" wheels, I was quite shocked when I picked up one of the standard rcolt wheels the other day, felt almost as heavy as a toyota landcruiser wheel!:)
The idea is that I save the 16's for any track duties and keeps the 18's for general driving, besides after buying a $25000 car, not everyone can afford rims that are worth quarter of the cars value (just source some real volk/rays stickers)! Cheers.

Picked up the K&N filter today & will fit it tonight -looking forward to a drive with that fitted. Also received the replacement bee-sting aerial that gives you the choice betwen a short whip or medium size - unlike the fishing rod length aerial fitted as standard to the rcolt! The aerial was bought on ebay for around $15aus from aerials4cars in the UK ($15 includes P&H), and they come in balck or silver. Thought I'd better go out and fit it before posting (see pics) just in case I make a fool of myself if it didn't fit! And sorry about the dirty car! Cheers.:)

The reception isn't very good on it, but I think I may have just forgotten to plug the aerial cable back into the head unit when I pulled the dash apart!:o
If not I can always put the longer section of aerial on - don't listen to much radio anyway.
Also fitted the K&N filter to the original airbox, at least you can now hear the turbo, and it sounds/feels like it has a few more herbs higher up when the MIVEC gets breathing.

Received a couple of windscreen stickers today from ebay, couldn't decide between the two so I bought both. Stickers came with comprehensive fitting instructions and two plastic sqeegees for applying them. It's always hard to picture them on the car until they are actually mounted on the top of the windscreen - starting to think the mitsubishi rally sticker may be a bit too lairy - any recommendations and who else out there has fitted one of these or is it easier to get them done professionally?

Finally I got a chance to install my shift light, plus wire up my boost gauge for the lighting. Also realised that I did leave the aerial plug out of the stereo last time I pulled everything apart, hence the crappy performance of the new bee-sting aerial (reception was fine once aerial cable was reconnected)!:o
The install was pretty easy really, I soldered the power for both the shift light and gauge lighting to the cigarette lighter cable spade terminals, as they were easy to get to and the lights would come on with the ignition, not the headlights. I had to drill a larger hole in the back of the DIN unit to cater for the square snap plugs on the shift light controller, the rest of the job really just involved routing cables behind the dash and double-sided taping everything down.
Now to go for a drive to set up the shift light (don't like revving the crap out of the engine with no load on it - good way to blow your engine!)
Please see attached pics!:)

All done by wheelworx (wheels, locknuts, springs - king or pedders), $2500 all up. Tyres are Khumo Ecstas and are the equivalent of our standard 16" Yokohamas, I can tell you now that they grip very well, yet to hear a single sqeal from the tyres when pushed hard. Wheels are 18x7.5 and come with white or black centres and machined lip. My springs are pedders sports ryders and have lowered the car significantly, there is no bottoming out or scrubbing, with more negative camber on the front it now turns in a lot better (by, by understeer!), and more importantly a lower centre of gravity. I will look very shortly at getting some shockers with a shorter sroke to compliment the springs as well.:D

Just received a couple of items I am going to fit to my colt from ebay. The first is an Eonon in dash DVD player with a TFT screen, IPOD connection/control and motorised flip down front panel. I bought it on an ebay auction for approx $150 brand new with about $50 postage, so if it the quality isn't that flash then I haven't lost out too much! Looking at the unit out of the box, it looks suprisingly good with a nice brushed metallic black finish on the face. The IPOD cable comes out of the back of the unit and will be installed in the glovebox. It also has a USB port on the front and also a mini USB/SD card slot on the top of the face. For more details see the following link:-

Also received an in dash single DIN gauge panel which will site under the new headunit, and will contain 3 digital gauges - when they finally rock up!

Macca, are you looking at a known brand in-dash DVD player or something similar from ebay at more than half the price? I noticed that some of the in-dash units being sold from hong kong have panasonic TFT screens built in to them, so you can get resonable quality at a decent price. My car isn't a show can so I don't require top of the range items ($1000+ pioneer units), just good enough to satisfy me!:) Are you going to get an all-in-one unit, or a DVD player with a separate flip out screen to fill out the double DIN space?

Got some new pics, as you've seen from the cruise shots that I've fitted a one-piece vortex generator to my rcolt, and at last managed to fit the single DIN DVD player. Sounds 100% better than the standard deck, and the TFT screen although small has very good resolution. The ipod connection is yet to be properly mounted, most probably will go in the glovebox (full ipod control available from deck). I will mount the scangauge in the remaining room above the dvd player, currently I have a single DIN pocket temporarily filling the hole.;)

Just thought I'd do a little review on the eonon DVD player which I installed into my colt a little while back now(see page 5,6 for pics of unit out of the box & installed). I bought it off ebay from hong kong from an auction (not buy-it-now), and payed only $152, with $59 postage - very reasonable for a player with so many features, even if the quality was in doubt!
The unit looks quite good, but the build is obviously not up to the standard of an Alpine, or JVC unit. The player itself I've found is not a true single DIN unit, but slightly larger, making it imppossible to fit a row of 52mm gauges in the space above. The face is motorised, and has not operated properly sometimes, but I found that was more to do with the face getting caught on the dash plastic below the unit. Sometimes I have trouble putting the face back on the unit, but I have found that it all comes down to technique in the end.
The DVD screen has great resolution with fantastic detail despite the size (reminds me of my playstation portable screen), and on the audio side, this player has a lot more ooomph than the stock mitsubishi 6 disc stacker. It has dolby surround with good effect imaging from all four speakers.
Really, the DVD was a bonus, should the DVD die tomorrow, it wouldn't worry me as I bought it for its IPOD functions. The unit is supplied with a long IPOD lead so you can run it to the glove box (am yet to do), and you have full control of your IPOD from the remote & head unit - no problems there!
Honestly, in the past I was sick of wankers smashing into my car and flogging all of my top end audio gear, so this is a godsend in a way - no big loss if it gets flogged as I only paid $200 bucks for it, would be different if it was a $1000 DVD player though, and even then it probably wouldn't come with the IPOD capability.
At the end of the day, it all depends on whether you want expensive brand name gear in your car, compared to chinese imports I suppose (these guys do supply standard units for some US carmakers so I've been told) Good Luck!:)

Any of the blemishes you can see on the badge in the photos is just the sticky tape attaching it to the cardboard.

yep - was flicking through the customer gallery and thought 'hang on, i know that car!'
How much lower was your car after the springs were installed? Any issues with scraping the front bar on driveways/speedhumps?
Corosith
12-12-2007, 10:06 AM
No, not really, can't say I've scraped any speed humps or anything, in fact after lowering, the car is actually lower with the original 16 inch wheels on as the 18"s have a larger rolling radius. The colt isn't hellishly low, just that the 18"s really fill out the guards, with the 16"s on, the colt has just a nice stance, not too low to be picked on by the cops, but almost half practical! The only things I do hate hitting are those stupid cement blocks they stick in car parks to stop your car rolling forward! Really should have gone 17" as it would have been a bit more practical, and tyres a hell of a lot cheaper as well!:)

17-12-2007, 11:28 PM
I went for my first drive today with the Ralliart Filter fitted, and suprisingly it is heaps quieter than the K&N (just about can't hear the turbo). As for performance, the K&N seems to flow a lot more air low down in the rev range, really a bit hard to tell! Problem is, with the K&N filter, the sucking sound of the turbo is so loud, it always make your colt feel about 5-10kw faster!
The Ralliart filter is probably made to be a lot quieter to cater for noise emission laws, and it also is approved for your warrranty as a stock Mitsubishi part.
Value wise, the K&N craps all over the Ralliart filter as it only costs around $70, and is reusable whereas the Ralliart Filter is not, in fact I'm not even sure of how long the Ralliart Filter is to be used before replacement!
There you go, if you like to have an engine bay full of Ralliart parts, want a performance filter that is not too loud, but wil flow bette rthan the stock filter, and are willing to fork out the money for a non-reusable filter, then the Ralliart Filter is for you.
If you want more flow, loud turbo induction noises, and a reusable filter for only a small price then the K&N may be for you!:)

Steve-B - so thats the swift rear diffuser ?
That's correct, a few of us managed to get them on ebay just before the seller went bust - the difference between this and other models is that it does not have the aerial hole in the middle like the Evo type ones!:)
Macca - where did ya get the ralliart sticker?
I assume you mean the window sticker Macca? If so, I got it from Hong Kong on ebay for a pittance, it came with fitting instructions & squeegy to remove the air bubbles. I trimmed a fair bit of the black off the bottom of it, to make it legal as possible and so the wipers won't scrape over a large amount of it.

Yep, another part of Matt's Ralliart inventory, was pretty easy to refit (lazy me went to exhaust shop!:D )
Once again, I wanted the legal, factory item versus anything that was too loud or drony. Matt gave me a pretty good price for both the exhaust and heat shield (not fitted yet), considering the retail ask for the exhaust alone is over $1200!
Matt's still trying to figure out how to fill in the holes on his rear bumper from the heat shield screws.
The other option would have been to purchase the HKS item, which is pretty much identical.:)

01-05-2008, 01:32 AM
The video doesn't really do the exhaust any justice unfortunately, but it does have a nice sound to it under full load - enough to be noticed but not annoy the crap out of my neighbours. Call me old, but I've had many a car with cannon mufflers, supertrapps, sebrings etc etc, but I can live with this unit without having to put up with constant low frequency droning and worrying about cops wacking defect stickers on me.:)
One other thing you have to remember, the 2 cats and resonator probably do more to quieten down the exhaust down, rather than just the rear muffler. Delete resonator and you will probably get a meatier sound, but at the expense of irritating droning under load - not much fun on long trips!

Oh and on the Kuhmo tyres you are using too ;)
I need as much info as possible ;)
Corosith
25-05-2008, 03:21 PM
No worries Macca,
as Hendo said, the springs are lowered pedders progressive rate springs, they sit a little lower than the ralliart ones, but not by much. They are by far the best modification I have done to this car so far (aside from the TMR mod), and transform the handling - less body roll, excellent handling. It's not too crashy - especially on the original rims & tyres, but is a little more crashy on the 18" rims - depends on what stiffness you are prepared to live with. As Alan Heaphy has indicated, the standard shocker valving is fine to cope with the lowering, and they seems to handle things fine.
I find my car rides fine on 18" rims, but for the sake of tyre costs, 17" rims would be the best compromise - with more rims & tyres available, therefore cheaper prices. They handle fine in the hills, with plenty of grip due to the large footprint (7.5 inches). The advans on the 16" rims are definitely a sticky combination, and I reckon 17" rims with the advans would be an excellent combination. I generally use my 18" rims for around town duties, and if I go on a hard cruise, I might pop my 16" wheels back on.
The air dams pretty much look after themselves, handling wise, its a bit hard to tell the difference - if any at this stage. It would be somthing you might notice more on the track rather than the road anyway. I haven't managed to wack any gutters or speedhumps yet, and quite frankly if people are worried about scraping & bottoming out with the lowered colt - don't, it's easy to live with day to day! The only place I scrape a little is on my driveway, but that is pretty steep, and only does it with two people in the car.
The other thing with the air-dams is that if you look at the side-one profile of your bumper, you will notice that if you hit anything, the front of the bumper will cop it well before anything actually hits the air-dams! If you are worried about hitting things, get the FRP air-dams, not the Carbon F ones , they are cheaper, and will eb easier to fix.
The Kuhmo Ecstas I find handle really well for a cheaper tyre, they have worn pretty well so far, but then again, our colts are pretty light vehicles. The advans will wear quick, but that is due to the soft compound for what is essentially almost a racing tyre.:)
Macca
25-05-2008, 05:33 PM
How many Kms you got fromt he ecstas?
Im just deciding what size wheels to go with, my advans are worn, so i cant just pop them back on for track work, thou, i dont think ill be doing tonns more.
I just wanted to get what its like to live with 18's on a lowered colt with airdams, i got mine in the first GB too, and have only scraped them once.
What price did the rubber come in at for the 18's i have seen the 17;s version for around the150-170$ price range, and was reccomended the tyre as a very good mid range price by some evo guys.
Corosith
25-05-2008, 08:16 PM
Can't tell you what price they were, but for springs, wheel, & tyre package, I paid $2500. I've only done 15000kms, so the wear on the tyres is only minor. I haven't had them let go on me yet with hard driving either.
If you want to live day to day with the one set of wheels & tyres, then settle for 17" wheels, everything is cheaper, & will be more comfortable for city & long distance travelling. As you've seen with Hendos colt, 17" wheels still look excellent, most guys mistake his wheels for 18" wheels!
One other thing with 18" wheels, the rolling radius of the wheels is slightly increased, and as result the colt will sit a little higher than a colt with 17" wheels. It is such a difference that can get a trolley jack under my colt with the 18" wheels on, but not if I have the 16" wheels on.:)

I bought mine off ebay from the US, there are some reasonable prices if you look hard enough. An A4 sheet or 2 should be heaps for our dash, the seller I've listed seems to have very reasonable prices for gloss finished CB sheets (real carbon), especially for the shipping (some guys trying to charge $40+). The sheets come in 1 or 2mm thickness, both would be stiff enough for a dash panel.:)

Boy, that job was fun - not! Blisters galore, yet the best thing to get the double-sided tape off was simply a hair dryer, rag and lots of patience. Eucalytus oil & orange label remover were only really good for the renmant residue, I tried floss and fishing line but to no avail. At least the group buy wing looks good, the only real issue I had was the middle mounting post bolt hole was in the wrong position, but that was easily fixed. Sorry about the crappy phone pics, I'll get some better ones up tomorrow.
Now all I need is the little Ralliart sticker for the rear wing, should be able to find one on ebay no doubt.:)
What do you know, exactly what I was after for the princely sum of $15 from the UK - two wing badges that will fit perfectly.

Using tomorrows cruise as motivation, I decided to replace the awful looking fake carbon fibre dash panel that houses my scangauge and intercooler water spray switch with real carbon fibre. It now looks much nicer and was cut out a bit better than the original acrylic insert. It is held on with heavy duty velcro for easy removal, and I used my dremel to cut the CFibre using the old panel as a rough template. I thought it would end my battle too, but I didn't put a clear coat on top(not advised to) and after a week and a half my shiny black wheels went a dark matt grey colour. To make it worse it now takes 3 times as long to get them shiny black again :(
They look good now, let us know how they go :D

Well that wasn't very good advice you were given Frogman, definately put several layers of clear on, then at least if they get scratched it'll only be the clear thats damaged, not the undercoats??

mate the wheels look great... now all you need is some red wheel nuts!! would look fantastic!
Let me know how the paint on the rims goes... I'm thinking of painting mine either gloss or matte black but I was gonna pay to get it done professionally(take the rim off the tyre and spray the WHOLE wheel - costs about $60 per rim). If yours works out alright I might consider doing it myself. IMO black just looks a whole lot meaner... not so rally but still.

It's just an illusion, no really, dark cloured wheels look good as they tend to blend into the wheelsarches/flares and give the colt a completely different look, it sort of looks less slab side if you know what I mean!.

Just a quick update on the spray can paint job on the wheels, so far there has been no peeling, chipping, scratching or any problem whatsoever with the paint. It has been about a month since I painted them and I couldn't be happier. There is also the bonus of being able to touch them up if any scrapes are encountered rather than have to rely on a paint shop to do it for me (and empty my pockets).
In total I used one can of matt black, one can of satin black, one can of metallic grey and one can of clear coat to do all four wheels (and a lot of wheel cleaning).:)
did you tape up the tyres and pop out the caps?
i might look at doing this
Corosith
18-02-2009, 07:44 PM
I did tape up the tyres initially but in the end I didn't worry about it - too much of a pain in the ass to tape up circular objects( fully inflated)! Firstly I sprayed between the bead and the edge of the rim then just cleaned up any overspray with a turps soaked rag, you just have to make sure you clean it up straight away before the paint dries as I don't think copious amounts of turps splashed everywhere would be too good for the rubber! I used the flat colour first as it seems to take to smooth surfaces better than gloss or satin paints. Then I just built up the layers with satin black, then metallic grey and lastly several gloss coats to protect the surace from light scratches. I started this project in the morning and had the wheels on my car all painted up that night (paint dried very quickly due to 40+ temps).
There are a miriad of colours out there that you could paint your wheels, it's cheap, easy and a very effective change to make to your car, especially if you get sick of your current rim colour (or are fed up with brake dust)!:)

Here is a short video of me going stupid with the new shifter in place and gee it was fun fitting it (not a job for stubby fingers). What did I think of it, well it's a little notchy but then again, the standard one is not all that flash, but there is a very noticable reduction in the amount of distance needed to shift gears. The other thing I like about this shifter was the extra height so now the knob falls into hand perfectly (no jokes about knobs, ok!):p
Oh yeah, sorry about the sideways vid!

Corosith
24-02-2009, 11:56 PM
I'm pretty sure overall length of the lever has been increased (did look but can't remember), they would need to do this anyway to keep the shifter at standard height. Mine now sits probably a couple of cms highter than standard.
I just went for a drive to get some milk (and to test the shifter), and wow what a difference. I'm so used to the sloppy standard long throw gearshift that I found it a little while to get used to changing gear so soon. Also the shift action has firmed up compared to the sloppy standard one, overall, very happy for what was really a minimal outlay.
The gear knob is a Sparco X-fast, I orignally bought such a long gear knob so that I could increase overall height on the standard shifter.

Your car is always clean! Mine likes to pick up every single dust and dirt it comes across.
By the way I'm loving your charcoal rims! Much more than the white! I was going to powder coat mine, but I thought i may aswell buy new rims. Rays preferably! And the front lip is starting to really grow on me. Love your car, it's hot!
Corosith
28-02-2009, 05:32 PM
Thanks for the compliment, but my colt isn't exactly clean all of the time - for photos yes, but normally it sits in the carport & gathers a layer of dust and road grime! The charcoal rims are definitely proving to be easier to deal with versus white rims - especially since I still have the standard pads.
I am getting quite used to my new short shifter, and it doesn't feel as short as it was when first installed, but it is still a good improvment over standard. especially taking the cost into account.:) Now, if only my seat was about 1 inch wider and sit about 1 inch lower, it would be a perfect seating position for me.:p

You've probably been asked this a dozen times, but i couldn't find the post but are your 18" giving u a hard time turning since it's lowered also? I went to The tyre factory and the guy there said it will fit, but i really shouldn't be putting 18" on the colts. Really disappointing because it's only an extra 2"s. And do you have trouble going over speed humps and gutters since you've dumped it?
why_bother
05-03-2009, 07:39 PM
you really shouldn't have too much of an issue with that setup (dumped on 18s) but you'll sacrifice a bit of grip & a nice ride.. unless you spend top dollar on suspension packages you're pretty well guaranteed to have a fairly harsh ride on 18s with lowered springs.
ask coro, that's his setup
Corosith
05-03-2009, 08:42 PM
Yes you do sacrifice ride quality but then again if I get sick of it I just put my stockies back on! Missralliart, I highly recommend 17" wheels as they are a much better compromise with cheaper tyres available, the wheels are generally cheaper and more plentiful, plus the ride is more acceptable (oh my kidneys!).
With regards to scraping, I've had next to no problems with that issue, only started getting a few scrapes after I fitted the front air dams and now I have to be careful going up some steep driveways / gutters.
If I had my time over again I would have gone with some wide 17" wheels for day to day driving, I was just impatient when I first got my little colt! If you go with some nice dark rims, it's very hard to tell the difference between 17's & 18's anyway.:)

This was a bit of an impulse buy, but since Lovecolt gives rave reviews on his Blitz throttle controller I thought I'd try out its competitor - the Pivot 3-drive throttle controller. I bought it direct from the Pivot site for a bit over $400 including the plug/wiring loom to suit the colt and postage. Hopefully by the time I'm back from exploring for gold it would have arrived ready for fitting. The fitting instructions pretty much mirror what is involved with the blitz unit, that is an interceptor plug for the throttle sensor and a power cable - easy peazy!
I will post an update when it arrives and give a full review.:)

has anybody with a throttle controller tried a front mount setup?
that 'trust' check compares the TPS with airflow..
how does this box not set the ECU off if it's sending different signals to the ECU with the same amount of air going into the engine & the ECU is running that periodic 'trust' check?
Macca

I ended up ripping everything out of the dash, including the scangauge, made up a panel of carbon fibre to fit in the cavity, and mounted the gauge and intercooler spray switch. Unfortunately in the process of putting the dash back together, I must have shorted out the globe in the gauge - not happy jan! Good excuse to get a new gauge now - as I am not sure how to replace the globe on these greddy gauges??

Finally I've had enough of just listening to engine noises, so I picked up a JVC KD-R606 cheap for $199 and some kenwood 6.5" speakers for the front doors. Fitting the head unit was a doddle (apart from the billions of mozzies), with the mitsubishi plug from the previous head unit making wiring a pretty simple affair. I chose this unit as it was cheap but good in quality and looks, has selectable screen colours to match the dash lighting, and also IPOD/USB connection.
Unfortunately my greddy boost gauge had to go due to lack of room, and I'll have to make up a spacer panel or use a pocket to fit in the open space above the head unit, and finally find a place for the intercooler spray switch to go back in.
The speakers will have to wait till tomorrow now (I need a garage like TMR_colt!).

At last, a quiet weekend to fit these damned UR bars (swaybar & rear 4 point brace). The swaybar was a pain to fit with me having to resort to the ol magnetic probe to get the bolts into the holes, and quite frankly I'm not too happy with the way it fits. Unlike the other fitments on this forum, I chose to use the two large bolts and modify the bolt holes on the bar so I could get it to sit reasonably flat without resting on the corner of the protruding bolt hole. I certainly didn't want bolts with tons of washers try to fill out the gap, so I'll see how it goes for now, I might end up just getting the cusco one.
The rear under brace was piss easy to fit, undo four bolts, wack it on with some loctite on the bolt threads and presto! I am yet to go for a drive, so hopefully I will noticed a difference, if not, the swaybar might come off till I get something more suitable for the rcolt. (both items originally intended for NA MIVEC colt - there are some minor differences in the rear torsion beam design hence the fitting issues, but the brace is ok).
....and yes, my colt is freakin dirty - accidently took a short cut on a drive yesterday on a very dusty road (not rally driving!):)
