View Full Version : The share market is killing me

Well I sold my car over a month ago now and was ready to go out and get myself a colt, even negotiated a great price. Then a friend talked me into buying mining shares in a Western Australian Mining company and holding off buying a car for a few weeks.

So after a few weeks I have made myself 5 grand (on paper) so I put what I had in the bank in to shares as well. After a month and a half I was 30 thousand up, couldn’t believe my luck, must admit that not having a car for over a month was killing me though.

Well now look what’s happened, the market has dropped through the floor into hell not to return any time soon by the looks of things and I have not only lots the money I made but also a good chunk of my colt money.
So here I sit looking at the forum dreaming of the day the market will go back up so I can go and buy a colt and get off the dam train.

Should have took it and ran when you were $30,000 up.

Then you would have a Colt and some nice modifications to match :p

Why would anyone want two colt's instead of one good one?

If you are prepared to wait, the stock price will rise again in the near future.

Shares in companies should always be considered as long term investments, unless you want to constantly monitor the ASX website all day long.....

BTW..the 87 Bathurst 1000 was a great race!

ASX website is delayed, you need real time data and also information about announcements.

As an entry level investor, a good place to get general economic data is the ANZ economics website. They do a lot of forecasting, and it might be able to assist you in what direction you may want to invest.

do you guys actually do any trading? I do some trading, but because of work, I can't contractually trade in certain securities.

The company I work for is...

well lets just say, I work for one of the largest companies in the stock market, we do IPO's, Spinoffs, everything.

What mining stock did you invest in?

Mining is very speculative ~ Rio and BHP are the only real stable ones - it's always caveat emptor man. And never just take advice from friends, if you're going to be investing more than say, 20, 30k, probably better to talk to a full service broker.
