As only me and Jeff (Chipokae)'s the only 2 that turn up the meet, we are bored and decided to invade our arch rival (XR4) .....by test driving it :D

Not going to talk about the exterior / interior (due to personal preference), but just on the overall performance, here's my verdict:

Straight line - It ain't bad for a 2 litre except i felt its struggling abit. I'm sure this got to do alot with the N/A configuration and the car's pretty new. My RColt definitely felt so much more responsive and the torque aided by boost sure felt alot better. But the initial torque of XR4's 2L should make it more daily friendly than our car.

Cornering - I didn't get to test alot of cornering, but the sales did. He basically go around a smallish roundabout to let us have a feel of the bodyroll + cornering. I must say, the body roll is a lot lesser than RColt. Hence, i will say RColt should lose out in this compartment....but then again, comparing a 13 000 ++km AD07 against a brand new Pirelli tyre (can't remember what model they are using)....it gets complicated again. They do have 17 inch stock standard, but their tyres' 205 profiled. Hence, its evenly matched by our 205/R16.

Another weird thing about the car is, the car seems to turn rather slow as according to your steering wheels' input. I know RColt's one ain't perfect, but it just seem to have more delay than ours. And the sales' shocked when i told him this as he has been emphasizing how pointy the xr4's steering.....

Braking - All i can say is, it freaks me out.....and no, its not the quick stopping power that freaks me, but rather the opposite. Maybe its the extra weight of 3 guys in the car....but i never felt that in my car with 4 adults....maybe xr4's brakes need to be pressed harder....

Overall, its a more luxury car than the RColt. Has its strong points and weakness against a RColt. But definitely very well priced. I will say, its very competitive to our car in terms of performance & Bang For Your Buck factor.

The XR4 just doesn't have the credibility for me. Whereas Ralliart have made real efforts to make their car much more than just a warmed-up version of the shopper (stiffer bodyshell, competition seats, strong (fade-free) brakes, more visual clues), the XR4 seems to be just that - a warm Fiesta.

And don't get me started about those silly stripes....... "No really. I AM a racing car, honest!"
