If someone is located in Perth, we have a Haltech Interceptor Unit ready to try for testing on teh car. If someone would like to pop on through a very good deal will be provided with a full tune at no charge for tuning, only paying for the cost of the unit only. This includes full mapping on fuel, ignition timing and boost control all built in as one unit - and if your real nice to us we may even hook up the haltech shift light as well :). Only available to Perth owners though.

mate, without going into too much detail about how you do it, how do you get around the mivec / over-sensative ecu ?

We recently had to do a lot of work on the Mitsubishi Mivec Lancer, which was a very very difficult ECU to work around with its full fly by wire throttle control. Anything out of the ordinary and it would just shut the car down into limp mode.
TO be honest, its a time thing. Just work through everything, find out why it did it, work out how to get around it and then move on to the next level. We spent 3 months devleoping a Haltech ECU package for the turbo conversion on the lancer mivec vehicle, which worked a treat.
The colt I don't anticipate as many problems already being factory turbo, but for example the haltech Interceptor was designed origonally on the turbo falcon which had factory cuts on boost levels etc. It has a built in clamp limit for boost allowing you to raise boost (With its inbuilt boost control unit) but clamp it on the factory ecu, but still be able to tune it outside of the factory parameters without the factory ecu ever knowing what was happening.
We anticipate the same type of setup with the colts but as we stated, time will tell once we start working on the vehicles.
Most looking forward to tweaking these cars, we have just been so busy trying to finish off some other models that we have only know just got time to start on the colt.

Hey !!! I'm from Perth, What sort of time period do you need the Colt???

Depending upon the work being performed, and as we would prefer to do it stage by stage with dyno results to compare, probably 1 -2 days at a time each stage of modification.

I drop in to see RPW they going to frabricate an exhaust systems for the R Colt, they going to try out different mufflers with the exhaust systems to get the best results.

I'll keep in touch with the progress, is there any dyno result with the the exausht from HI Tech ??

nope, no dyno results..
So, the Euro Spec Colt (CZT) has CANBUS . Is this an obstacle for the Haltech to operate properly?
You see ,this is very interesting unit for us Euro Colters too.:)
Unfortunately Perth is too far for us!!!!:D :D :D

the haltec would piggy into the sensors before the signal gets to the ECU, and as far as i know, they ignition packs and MAF are analogue into the ECU, its the G sensor and steering wheel position sensors that are on CANBUS

Mitsiman are you still looking for an RC for this ECU/Short Shifter/Exhaust? fit out etc? I see wacolt said he would see you about this? but if he lost interest??? I wouldnt mind discussing it with you if the offer is still available? let me know as I have questions to pm you or even better stop in and speak to you some time?
Anyway I can squeeze out some more kw's would be nice , also be good to have my RC sooped up a little by you guys then I can help spread the word about it here and on the road ;)

No the canbus is no obstacle to the haltech as it works on the input side of crank angle sensor ad air flow meter. Works out RPM based on crank angle sensor.
Yes we are still looking for a demo car to work on.

Wow Mitshiman! Great work!!
looking forward to your turbo back xos and short shifter package...may i know at wat boost are is the haltech tune at?

The haltech has a built in boost controller as well as a clamping option (So we don't trip the max limit of the factory ecu on boost) so basically can run as much boost as the engine / turbo can handle.

I've run out of patience - Darthrev get down there ASAP, this shortshifter has been months in the making, Darth - all rcolt owners will love you for it!:D

will drop in there in next couple days probably, and sort a time to get the ecu and short shifter done?, will discuss any exhaust upgrades they may have too.. stay tuned

Getting Short Shifter put in 10th December, plus RPW doing a Dyno test to compare to another RC Dyno result they have on record.
Looking at Exhaust/ECU and intake job Early January, as they are pretty booked out/ xmas break coming and will also need the car 3 days.
-Looking forward to this end of the project :)

Have moved my previous post to a new discussoin specifically on the R&D program on the ralliart colt. If possible please leave this discussion in relation to the haltech package only.

fyi, the max boost that we are running here in singapore is about 1.24bar..after which the bhp levels start to drop with any further increase in the boost..
personally im on 1.22 bar with high boost..using a HKS evc with reflash..

guys, this thread is now only for the disscussion of the haltech unit that mitsiman can supply for the colt.

Well breath fresh air into a stale topic, I think I may have found the solution to our MAF sensor issues with the haltech.
I have researched with a colleague (Electrical engineer) and we have designed an add on circuit board / amplifier unit which I believe will allow us to be able to tap into the MAF sensor without bringing up CEL issues.
I will after xmas try this again on Darthrev's vehicle and see if it works. If it does, we may finally have some more options for tuning again.
Good luck, we are all hoping for the best.
That is close to three option on the go now????
