Hi,

done my battery relocation.

Here's the materials i used

1xFULL River Dry Cell HC20 (Same as Odyssey PC680) Weighs Approx 6kg without the metal pocket - $168 shipped EBAY AU
1xAluminium mounting bracket - $35 buks shippe EBAY UK
2xGold Battery Terminals (+ve and -ve) - REPCO ($8eah - CHEAP!!)
4GA x 3metres power - JAYCAR ($8.90/metre)
4GA x 1metre ground - JAYCAR " "
4-5metres of black 16mm weaved sleeves (fits 4GA cables) - EBAY HK - Look up "braided sleeves" ($20 buks all up for about 10metres worth)
1x MonsterCable 120A Magnetic Circuit breaker. - $43buks EbayUS
8xGold 4GA Terminal Rings. JAYCAR - $3.95 per pair
Lots of heat shrinks JAYCAR (price too low to notice the difference when checking out)
4 Screws - to screw in the mounting bracket. - Bunnings
Silicon Gasket sealant - SUPERCHEAP - The screw will be visible under the car. Used the gasket sealant put under the car where the screw holes are to prevent water going in and rust.

The battery is at 16-16.8Volts when car is off and 19.2 Volts when the car is on. Seems all good.

My Coltspeed intake box is noticeably louder now :)

Just need to make the cover for the shield and have a hole and accordion pipe to tunnel through to the front bar.

Looks neat - frees up a lot of real estate in the engine bay.
Plenty of room for that EVO 6 NACA duct CAI in the hood now mate!

Haha yeah. Trying to custom a alum heat shield for it and accordion pipe going in from the side. My catch can will also go in that empty area too. Need to custom a bracket for it though.

Looks very neat indeed, well mounted and out of the way, I like it! Where did you get the battery brackets and stuff, and do you have any engine bay shots to show how it is connected up in there. Should have done a full install pictorial and description for the "How to do" guides as I'd being interested in pissing off that bohemoth of a battery which weighs like a squillion kilos.

Haha thanks. I should of done it with you. I'm not good with guides.

It actually took me about 1.5 months to prep for this to wait for parts, gather, making each cable look professionally braided, crimped properly, soldering etc.

I'll get more shots on the weekend. It was getting too dark.

It's pretty easy overall, the hardest part was trying to squeeze the power cable through the firewall hole in the passenger side just underneath the glovebox.

Now updated with prices and where to buy.

Note the bracket I purchased, doesn't fit perfect. One part I had to hammer one of the bends straight to fit. This bracket was meant for Odyssey PC680 which is a tiny bit shorter. If you buy the original brackets for the full river, it's 80 buks!!

Mmm, don't think I can squeeze much more through that hole in the firewall, got enough cables and boost tubing going through there. May have to route it along the under side of the colt and through the floor somewhere. Thanks for the extra info!

Yeah same, i didn't actually squeeze it in the rubber hole but instead outside of it. You need to put some insulating tape on the edge of the metal because it cuts into the wire. The rubber was already pushed out anyway.

I think I would prefer to remove the bung all together and route some sturdy electrical conduit throught the hole and maybe seal around the outside of it with some silicone, cannot afford to have those leads shorting out on the chassis in any way. I had a 12v gauge cable short out on one of my cars years ago and it nearly burnt the car to the ground, luckily I got the battery on time - probably be wise in hindsight to have an in cabin battery isolator switch!

Fuse should be used to stop that.

I have heaps a wires thru mine, each wire is in some plastic conduit. works well

Yes, my MonsterCable magnetic circuit breaker would switch itself off when shorted.

Hey mate - You want to cover up those terminals with something. At least cover the +ve terminal.
If anything metallic (like a spanner) shorts those terminals things could a bit exciting.

Yeah they're wrapped up with insulation tape for now (at engine).

under seat, probably use a cloth or something. Haven't thought about it. Any shorting would trigger the magnetic circuit breaker.

Loving the battery setup now, certainly shows how shit the design of the coltspeed box was with the factory battery still fitted, virtually pointless being hard up against the battery face. What would be cool though is a custom carbon fibre second half to the coltspeed air box that clips onot the box face then tapers to a tubular air feed which you can mount one of those fancy hi-temp silicone ducting hoses onto.

I saw some of the flexible wire re-inforced pipework lying around work the other day. I might have to make some enquiries I think - see how much I can get... :)

How awesome is that bendable bracket stuff from bunnings!

Hahaha you noticed! So convenient to mount anything you want! I happened to have some spare aluminium calliper spray paint left. After i made the shape, sand paper down further and spray. Then it blends in with other alum stuff. :)

I've got some more aluminium sheets + pvc plastic to further complete the almost air tight box. I will have accordion cold air pipe coming soon.
