Still some spots available, and little competition in the Club 2wd Class. Bring your street RColts or your mum's carolla out for a class win!

Hmmm tempting Tristan....but might have to grab a helmet....alas the quality Stilo helmut you have for sale is too small for my big noggin! Plus no extra cash for a CAMS licence, especially at such short notice.
Be interesting to see lap times given it might be damp on Monday.
Honestly, I would get to this as part of a weekend in Adelaide. Needed advance notice to book accom :/

Would have been a good opportunity for an interstate meet, as we all have the same holiday :)
The next one in October falls on a regular workday for Victorians. If next years round falls on the qbd weekend I will definitely pencil it in :)

Sounds like a good opportunity to me.
It's about as good as it gets really I think.

Im not up to speed with any other motorsport events on this QBD weekend, but if the TimeAttack is the closest one to Melb then its definitely doable. Should have known earlier this year, instead on focussing on doing a Mt Gambier meet :S
By this time next year my car might not be as stock as it is now ;)

I was just wondering, there's no regulation of the car's power in these time attacks? There's only PRO's, Open AWD, Open2WD classes etc. But no power regulation in each?
So basically whoever has the most money would win with most mods and tuning etc. I think some of those cars actually handle really well but because they're over-powered by 3xx and 4xx kw cars, they'll just pull away in straights.
Limit cars to 300hp or 200kw+ on the track, you definitely won't see Evo6 win against the better and improved Evo10, R35GTR and FDRX7's handling.
Should introduce Touge rules.

Mate the power doesn't count for much in the twisties. There's no need to cap power cause none of the top tuning companies bother trying to put huge figures to "pull away". It comes down to weight, downforce and setup. Go look at that hks ctr230. Its pretty average in power output but its time at Tsukuba is lightning quick. That's also a tight course where power means nothing.

Mallala is quite a technical track with lots of tight corners, heavy braking, an off camber turn one and short straights, so handling and braking are probably more paramount over outright power. Point proven the day a GT production series Dodge Viper ran out of brakes and cleared the wall on the back straight, just too much power and not enough attention to braking gear. When I used to take my Suzuki GTi out there with a lowly 1.3 litre engine, I used to outbrake and outhandle a lot of more powerful cars, yes they got away from me on the straights, but you could imagine with a turbo kit it would have been up there doing the same if not better track times.
You would think Steve Knight's Evo6 would probably be near the end of its development by now, unless he gets a bit more serious like the Jap/US Time Attack Evos. What attracts me to this series is the fact that most of the cars are close to if not are road going vehicles, as soon as things start going to space frames and composite bodies etc I'd lose interest. What would be good if some people got serious on pumping out some big power levels out of some of the smaller cars available, I wonder how Runut's 4WD Cultus would go properly setup for the track?

Given in the time attack above, power does make a huge difference if you have 3-400kw compared to a 200kw or less Evo10 or Evo9. The top 5-10 list for best times in the above list probably in the range of 250-300kw and Steve's Evo6 @ 46x kw. Brad's RX7 is about 300kw more or less? But that beast weighs probably 1tonne or less (stock is 1100-1200kg) and in my opinion the rx7fd have the best handling.
Mallala ain't that technical, recovery from those corners just requires power. Probably not that Supra as that's still fukin heavy even with its fat taken off.
anyhoo...

There was a guy out there with a Supra and it had bulk power. Trouble was he'd hit the straights and you could hear it literally buzzing the wheels as it hit boost. Sounded awesome but didn't really go anywhere compared to the rest of the pack.
I reckon the Colt would get the chocolates in the 'Club 2wd' class. The guy in the Clio was running a Catback and a panel filter - dunno what the class rules are but I guess a stock(ish) Colt would suit.
I was impressed with that Puma - the woman who drove it built it herself. Did the welding and everything herself.
It was real fast, she even ran with the spare wheel attached to the back of it.
Was surprised SKR did as well as he did - dude had some problems and only belted out a couple of laps. Brad Trenwith did about 10 times morfe laps than SKR. His Evo 6 is looking a bit tired though compared to the rest of the competition - still producing the goods though.

Looks like end of life soon for SKR's Evo6 unless it's gonna be completely rebuilt. That cost would be much easier to get a Evo8 MR FQ-360 or FQ-400 race-only from Japan for about $20-40k . Guarantee this machine will make top 10 as stock and beat most modded Evo9's and 10's. I'm surprised no one has got Evo8 MR in the time attack.
I am hoping to get a normal Evo8 MR as my weekend car and use my Colt as my daily!!
Supras are too heavy. Just like a 2tonne commie bogging down with it's v8.

FQ - spec evo's are UK only, not available in Japan. A stripped race weight Evo 6 also has a weight advantage against an equivalent stripped race weight evo 8/9.

They can be imported as race-only from UK and they do have it in Jap, just not called FQ that but with similar tuning to get 300kw.
Bump!
May we have the calendar of events for 2012 please sir? :)
