This was suppose to be a positive post. :)

The title of the article is 'Best Mainstream Cars For Retained Value'

Look at the list and realise the cars that don't appear on it. :)

I'm afraid that resale values are not dictated by the original purchase price, but by the 'contemporary' price. Buyers will look at the current price of a newie when evaluating the price of a used car, so any drop in the new price will reduce the price of used cars (provided the specs are similar), tossing the 'Resale %' rule out of the window.

Sorry!

As the colt is sold overseas in a similar model and if it stills continues to sell and not be discontinued like the Ralliart Magna, then the value of the Colt will be ok even though it will go down too fast for some.. A new Ralliart magna was 52K including sunroof and now nearly 5 years later you are lucky to get 25-28K for nearly 50% loss (5K/year). Hopefully the Colt will go the same as a GSR that it will have a dedicated group that will realise the value of the car and how outstanding it is compared to others. Bottom line is that a car is like playing the pokies you know that you have lost your money before you even play but you do it anyway and have some fun along the way.
