Is someone of you guys interested on the products of that company?
A member of our Greeek coltclub sent an email asking for a camber kit and the answer is as follows...
Hi Petros, I have spoken with our research and development team and the RaliartMitsubishi Colt is high on our priority list. However, unfortunately toproceed we require a vehicle in our NSW Central Coast Workshop tocommence work. If you are willing to assist us in tracking one down itwill be much appreciated. If you have any further enquiries please don't hesitate to contact us RegardsJohn LeightonTechnical / Customer ServiceREDRANGER / NOLATHANE / WHITELINE www.redranger.com.au Ph. 02 4340 2355Fax. 02 4340 2466john.leighton@redranger.com.au

Hi liou, can you forward your email to my email address? I will contact them and see what's your requirement of a car to do the research. My email is mrcolt@rcolt.com. Cheers
Well my email is liou2665@yahoo.gr.
Actually i m not the one thats initially interested in these products. The person is axolotl from coltclub.gr and coltclub.eu.
I will tell him to send you his email too, in order not to have me as middle man.:)

Hello There John,
Mate I am part of a forum for the Mitsubishi Ralliart Colt and we have been contacted by some of our members from greece letting us know you require a "test" car for some products you are looking at developing. My car was on a short list to be used by whiteline, but for personal reasons I decided not to go ahead with them. I live just up at hornsby.
This is the email / post we received about this subject.

Thank you for your time, if you could give us some information about what you are looking at changing or achieving or looking at improving that would be a great help as im sure a lot of our members would be interesting in updating their cars, as currently there are really no upgrades available let a lot australian companies developing anything.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Steve.

yeah, not sure if i will go ahead with this, for reasons im not going to discuss...
Hi Steve,
John has passed your email onto R&D, as you may be able to help us with a test vehicle and I would like to thank you for your continued interest, however, due to the fact that you have decided not to go ahead previously, I am quite surprised to hear from you again.
I am sure that you are very familiar with our WWD program, what's involved and required, and as you are aware Whiteline has recently merged and moved to Somersby near Gosford on the Central Coast.
If you are still interested, we will be happy to hear from you.
When will you be available (between Tuesday and Thursday) to bring your car in for an initial assessment, after week 33?
Regards,
Wojtek Rogulski

My Reply....
Hello Wojtek,
Thank you for your email in regards to my reply to john. As stated in my email I was contacted john on behalf of some members of our from greece who are interested in the nolathanne range. I was not aware that whiteline had moved to somersby or that you had merged with nol.
As I work in the city the only times I can get the car up to you is either on the weekends or very early in the morning as my situation hasn’t changed.
My questions still remain as I am reporting back to our forum about the R&D that will be carried out, and the possibility of other owners that might be more suitable / give you more access to their vehicles due to my circumstances. If you can get back to me with the details I am sure I can have a colt up to you asap.

Hey Guys,
Just got off the phone with wojtek then, they are pretty keen to have someone involved with the R&D for these kits. They are looking at a whole suspension package for the colts, suspensions, struts, sways, camber kits, bushes, interior strut braces etc etc etc... Is anyone interested in being THE first car with all this kit...unoffically you get most of the gear 50-75% off cause you are helping them help us. They do free wheel alignments and etc etc....Im hoping someone will step up *edited*...

Hi Steve,
It was good to talk to you today.
Here is the link to the Whiteline Works Driver program explaining what is involved, what and how we do things, what is required and how to contact us.

mate all the details are there, i suggest you read the suspension info link and realise from the get go, its not a one off thing, they will call you, and ask for the car back to do testing, track testing, maybe previews and shows, its a contract you enter into, so i stress to read the site and make sure you know what you are getting into first.

have been dancing around it long enough, and have had afew run-ins with the R&D manager, but i'm up for it, and need to prove it to them to make up for the times before. They are 30mins from my house, so i am really looking forward to it.
First is sways and measurements.

Fantastic Steve, you might get some cheap, if not free parts out of them! I guess they have to do some test driving and suspension tests to determine the increase in bar diameter (adjustable I hope!), and to see what else they can apply to the rcolt. They just need to dial some of that understeer out, but not so much as to have the rear end snap out on you. Will be interesting to see!:)
Swaybar should attach similarly to the Barina GSi bar below.

rear sway bar for us?

hey were does the sway bar link onto the chassie cause if its onle on the swing arm it would do Sweet-FA t needs to link to the body somewere.
And 22mm seems a bit thick for the rear you dont want it tighter than the front

That setup is correct, you are probably thinking about an independant rear suspension setup (lancer, mirage) which needs a connection to the chassis to make a connection between the two independant suspension arms. With the sway bar on the beam it twists with the suspension up/down movement, therefore providing the anti-roll characteristics (at least that's the way I see it).
The pic was just for reference, not the exact unit we would be after!:)

Coro, the rcolt doesn't come with any rear sway bar in stock form. Hence, if anything, they will have to r&d the right amount of barring. Our rear torsion beam suspension type isn't helping much, hence no one has come out with a sway bar as yet due to the complexity of sway bar on torsion beam sussy.

for a sway bar to work it needs to be conected to the body cause when you steer right the body goes left, if the sway bar is on the swing arm than were the swing arm goes the sway bar will go, therefor the body will still move in the oppisite direction.
so thats why you need it conected to the body so that is stiffens the body from moving inthe opp direction therefor reducing body roll thereefor the center of gravity is lower therefor creating beter handling.

Lovecolt, I know the colt does not come standard with a swaybar, but if one were to be developed, it would be similar in design to the one developed for the Barina, Polo, Getz, and a miriad of other torsion beam front wheel drives out there. Of course the rating of the bar will be unique, but that will come with testing.

Wrong again I'm afraid, just go to the Whiteline website and checkout the fitting instruction PDF's for all of the swaybars fitted to torsion bar front wheel drives - no chassis mounting!
Say for example if the car leans to the left, the left rear side of the torsion bar travels up, whilst the right side travels down causing a twisting action in the beam - thats why it's called a torsion beam suspension. A sway bar added to this beam will inherently increase the torsional rigidity of the beam, thus reduce body roll. That is why on independent rear suspension you need to bolt it to the chassis, otherwise one side cannot counter-react with the other side to reduce roll.:)

you just wouldnt think with a huge fat H beam you would get much twisting. but obviousley you do. and also as shown on the barina pic, the sway bar, acts further out on the suspention arm.
