hey everyone
think its about time to put my colt in the members ride section
its a white 2010 euro colt ralliart, about 7 months old now and with almost 11k kms on the clock
as a first mod i had the rear windows tinted since only the 5 door colts come with tinted windows from factory
second mod was a k&n panel filter which is a really nice improvement in sound:)
at around 7.5k i changed the engine oil with castrol edge 5w30, does anyone even care lol?
last mods where a scangauge 2 and a stri boost gauge
first pictures where taken like 6 months ago when it was fully stock

next are some more serious (read expensive) mods
kw v2 coilover kit in height and stiffness adjustable
17" mat black enkei j10 rims with contisportcontact tires
i'm still not 100% sure on what tire size i should go with though
probably 205/40...
any opinions on this?
here's some pics:)

I'm a sucker for white rims, I reckon a set of white enkei/oz racing/compomotive rally type wheels would look cool on a white colt, but the rims pictured don't look half bad either. Just one issue I found with the polished lipped rims is hot bit of metal/brake pad welding themselves to the nice chrome finish, makes them very hard to keep looking new, I'd be tempted just to go all black to save on the maintenance.
colTwes
21-01-2011, 07:09 AM
thanks for the advice but those rims stole my heart so they have allready been ordered aswell as the kw coilover kit
i still have my doubts about tire size though, think i will go with 215/40
that should all fit nice...
i can't wait for seeing the result:)
Good stuff! Yes please do a review on the V2 coilovers (compare to your stock setup - simplicity of changing the ride height etc) :)
colTwes
25-01-2011, 06:32 AM
thanks!
i will do that as soon as i can
Hey,
another Ralliart Colt from Belgium,
i think 215/40 is going to rub when you take a corner,
i'm rolling on 205/40/17 end have had no problems.
i would also like the KW V2 but it's a bit over budget for me,
Post pics if you get the KW V2
colTwes
27-01-2011, 09:58 AM
hey vinc
i really hope the 215/40 will not rub, i gotta wait and see...
kw v2 might be under the car next week or the week after if everything goes well
rims might take a few weeks more
i really hope everything fits without problems...
and offcourse i will post pictures when its done

got a phonecall yesterday from the tyre shop the coilovers have arrived
next week wednesday i'm bringing the colt in for install
hope everything goes well:)
fingers crossed eej, :)
its gonna look fine.
colTwes
17-02-2011, 01:41 AM
coilovers have been installed today
and it looks damn good:D
i dont know how much they lowered it though but its perfect
only downside is they are way to hard for the bad roads here
i can feel EVERY bump in the road so i gotta get that adjusted once the enkei's are under:)
pics coming soon...
colTwes
17-02-2011, 05:16 AM
couple of pics:)
what do you guys think?
wow that looks nice. !!
i think its lowered about 3-4 cm ,
with the V2 u can still drop a little more :p ,
end isn't the hardnes of the Kw V2 adjustable ??
zerocool
17-02-2011, 06:18 AM
Looks very cool!
This is on my wishlist, but they are so damn expensive ;)
colTwes
18-02-2011, 06:46 AM
thanks guys
yes the hardness is adjustable but i'm gonna drive like this for a few weeks they might still get a bit softer
and yeah the price tag is a bit of a downside but i'm very sure that the kw's are very good quality (and it looks damn sexy:D)

looks tuff!!!! If it was me, i would get the black bumpers colour coded white... not only will it look better, but it will look lower!!!
xvibes
27-02-2011, 01:00 AM
+1 @husky !!
But I think the rear is lowered too much...I believe that the front should always be lower than the rear and in ur case i think they are the same height..!!
Macca
27-02-2011, 07:53 PM
if the rear is a little lower it will force more weight over the rear wheels of the car and make weight distribution closer to 50:50 technically.
50:50 can be achieved by corner weighing a car and adjusting the height on adjustable coilovers
xvibes
28-02-2011, 07:32 AM
maybe that is good if u like cornering...or for track-day use , but for better acceleration u need more weight at the front wheels !!
JamesPH

Macca,
By how much would we have to raise either the front or rear to balance any vehicle? Unless we have a funky looking 50mm difference in height front to rear I can't see it changing by much?
Although I can see how dampening could crudely emulate a 50:50 balance in action.
Macca
01-03-2011, 06:24 AM
Not sure by how much. It would depend on what weight is on the rears.
I have coilovers now and I have been trying to find some corner scales I can borrow but most dont want to lend them out as they are worth like $4k a set lol
colTwes

i have been thinking about doing that from the beginning but i'm still not 100% sure about it...
colTwes
02-03-2011, 08:38 AM
well in the meanwhile i'm thinking of ways to make the colt a better car but i'm a noob at this so i could use some help...
this is what i think about it, please correct me if i'm wrong
the coilovers should greatly increase cornering because of the lower center of gravity
can i get other advantages from this like you guys where saying corner weighing, lower front gives more traction at front wheels...
the bigger and maybe lighter rims with a bit wider tire should increase traction, topspeed and maybe even decrease fuel consumption (lower engine rpm at highway speeds right??)
and they give more room for bigger brakes later down the road without really sacrificing acceleration
next i'm considering a short shifter (probably rpw's) and maybe the engine mount from jamesph to make shifting easier
are there other bits like these i can get to improve the colt?
Macca
02-03-2011, 09:39 AM
if your getting the RPW shifter, and James brace also get the Beatrush shifter bushs at the same time
What do you want to improve and how much do you want to spend?
I would get a rear sway bar as well

All it needs now is a EVOX bonnet and that Blue WRX front bar and you'll be set!

hey macca what do the beatrush shifter bushes do and are they difficult to install?
i might look into a rear sway bar but what about the stock front sway bar is it good enough?
and do any of these things also have disadvantages to them as a daily driver...

i followed the installation guide couldn't have been easier to do...
i turned the valve fully anti clockwise then 18 clicks clockwise (they recommend between 16 & 25 clicks for stock boost)
sounds great not to loud but noticable:D
seems like a very strong unit aswell very happy about it:)

he expects the program to arrive tomorrow, if so i can bring the colt in next week
i'm getting the bcs installed together with the engine mount i got from the german colt guys
there also gonna replace the rear muffler with a straight pipe, hope it sounds good...
hay colTwes, please make sure you do a full book report on all the mods, we need details, car looks good even up in the air.
let us know what you think about the power mods, im still up in the air to do the stage 1 flash we have here from RPW, as i dont want to go and get another tune after it, just flash and go !

got the colt back on monday
first of all the engine mount i got from the german guys makes shifting abit easier without any noticable downsides
and second the exhaust sounds quite good without the rear muffler, not too loud but noticable just as i wanted...
results from the tuning: 166.3whp @ 6300rpm & 246wtq @ 3450rpm
drives great so far pulls pretty hard also but still have to test to it's full potential:D

what do you guys think of the colts stance?
also think it should be lower at the front, or higher at the rear?
keep it Level, no need for these cars to have their ass up in the air.
the finish on ur sub box not possible in a darker color ?
its small already, hope u never have to carry larger items than a Six pack :)

they had the same sub in a different box, way bigger with darker finish but didn't fit in trunk...
was also the first thing i asked them if they could get this box with a darker finish but apparently not
and whenever i have to carry a "bak";) ill just put it on the rear seat
thing that bothers me about the stance is that the front is higher then the rear
think ill just get the rear a bit higher so that it matches the front

[B]Hallo Wes,
I see that you would like to sell the KW shocks??

Hi Guys,
I have got a question.. I have bought these 'shadow pro' full electrical gauges some time ago.. (oil temp + boost) and I pulled all the wires and concted everything according to the books. ( all in my fusebox), but they just dont want to work... :(
Prety annoying.
I have tried everything, Voltage is OK (+12v), grounding also, and I have wired contact, light, and constant seperate.. (I have 4 wires: Lamp-on, ignition-on, Ground, 12V+ power...
Do you have any idea or know someone who can have a look for me.. I am out of ideas..
Some guy even tells me that it could be a CAN-bus problem... :S
