.Colt is going to lose the battle hands down.
Ralliart simply don't have the advertising budget to compete with Suzuki, and certainly not with Ford!
However, as we know, just because a car is advertised to death, doesn't equate to it being a better car.

tru, but are you going to go and test drive / buy a car thats in your face. Or one that you have never seen or heard about....
It just got me pissed, cause people are like sheep, and people will buy whats advertised and right infront of them, and not whats better quality and built to a higher standard in my view.
its sad but true, if people were the buy the better car for and holden would be screwed well as far as it comes to the falcdore

I also have seen the ad about 4 times already today as stated before just because they advertise it more doesnt make it a better car.

That is true but i guess the point is ..how are people meant to know how good the Rcolt is if they dont know about it in the first place. Advertising gets the name out there.

well....judging by suzuki's ad, its as equal as not advertising. You can barely see the Swift sport in the entire ads. *sigh* People nowadays tend to add so many fancy stuff in the ad till they lose the whole initial aim of it.

You'll see some Mazda 2 MPS ads coming round soon I'd say, Mazda has admitted it's in the works. Just another competitor for our Ralliarts. I think the 2 MPS will be successful because of the 3 MPS's success.

we have swift sports here.. have done for a while. I think the only time I've seen one was before they were launched heheh.. they are pretty rare here, don't seem to have sold many at all (UK).. saying that I still wouldn't fear them from the stand-point of the colt, it smashes them hehe.
the mazda 2 mps sounds a bit lively tho, 2.0ltr turbo, 230bhp! :D

Two weeks ago on a lazy Sunday arvo I decided to test drive the cars I have been looking at and make up my mind. Its was a great idea in that I drove all three cars within 2 hours at Parramatta so I didn’t have to remember what they were like over days or weeks just hours.
Here are just a few observations of my own, and to be honest I was looking for performance more than anything else as my past 2 vehicles have been performance BMWs.
XR4, I drove this first, it was ok but didn’t really put a smile on my face, handling was nice it went ok but it was just smooth not zippy. My girlfriend said the ride in the back wasn’t great and there was no head room. I like the look of it though.
Swift Sport, I loved the handling It really went great around tight corners, performance was there but only after about 3000 or 3500 revs. I liked it more than the ford and the girlfriend thought it was much nicer and looked nice too. Also liked the look of the double exhaust.
The colt was last, as soon I got in I thought the seats were a bit tight for me , don’t know how they would be on a long trip but I suspect I would probably want to change them after a while. The cars performance put a smile straight on my face and I thought this is it; this car kills the other two. Must admit I still thought the Suzuki went around corners better but I really think the colt is way in front of the other two for performance, . On a sad note the girlfriend would not even get in the car as she said it was one of the ugliest cars she had ever seen and said it was so much uglier than the other two and that I was mad if I was going to buy it. I have finally persuaded her that there are far uglier cars and if she wants me to buy a hatch she at least has to let me get one that goes fast.
The bottom line is this I have seen 20 Swift sports commercials, read 10 XR4 reviews and I still want a colt.
Question for all of you is this, do you buy a 06 run out model for 26 drive away which is the best price I can find in Sydney or fly to Melbourne and get an 07 model for 25 drive away, I cant believe the deals those guys down there are doing. Problem is I don’t want to drive back from Melbourne to Sydney.
What do you think??

i am sure you can screw them more! get one of the rcolt boys in sydney to go in with you! that way you have abit more leverage!

I will get the 06 model as a few things have been taken out on the 07 model. Remember, the only thing difference between the 06 & 07, is the manfacturing date. In this case, the 06 hasn't been driven till you bought it, hence it is every bit as new as the 07 model.
But from your description, i'm glad our rcolt ain't a girls' car :D Normally, girls will find sporty looking car ugly and the others good looking :D Hence when they said its ugly, it meants nice in boy's book :D

Be happy steve your driving the better car.
Hmmm I should have driven the swift but its looks turned me off a little.
I drove the following 3 cars in the span of a few days. Each test drive was for approx 45mins (a mixture of stop, start traffic & 100km speed) which is not bad considering the sales people normally expect you to make a decision within a short 5-10min drive.
1) Ford XR4 - smooth & quick once you get moving but no left foot rest :( You sit very high on the seats like a 4WD.
2) VW Polo Gti - best interior full stop! Quiet & composed ride, put your foot down & its nothing special but its no snail either. The rear seats very cramped.
3) Colt Ralliart - cheapest interior not including the recaros. Noisiest of the lot but the best involving drive. Airy cabin for a small car.
Just my 5 cents worth but the rcolt was my choice of the 3... :D

Test drove the XR4, Tiny, cramped, no place to rest your foot when your not using the clutch. Beautiful zippy engine though. Still wouldnt buy one. Swift sport, body shape is easier on the eye at first, but after you see alot of them it tends to look quite cheap. Ok engine, cheap looking and small interior. Astra SRI. Great engine and thats about it! No rear view, abysmal ride over 100km and over 30k. Which brings me to the colt...when i first saw the shape i wasn't to impressed...but after seeing it in the flesh from different angles, my mind slowly turned. After hopping in and falling instantly in love with the recaro's i knew i was hooked. After 20min of a test drive and i knew this was the car for me. Quick enough to lose your licence if your not careful. As stiff
as me in a strip club, but it could actually handle itself when the going got hot! And brakes that almost rip you out of the seat when hard pressed. All this for $24,990 drive away from Kings Mitsubishi in Ballarat. Ill admit that even after 3weeks the side on view is still taking a little getting use to, but it's a small price to pay for all of the above, not to mention the huge front window! Buy the Colt, you wont regret it...it'll bring a smile to your face everytime you drive it!
PS. Don't pay more that 25k for an 06 plated colt, remember when you do eventually sell it, it'll be regarded as an 06, even though you bought it new in 07.
Rock on
Al

love your work al, i know what you mean about the side view, its like that designed the front anf back to look great, and the side panels have no personality or character at all....

Its kinda like they've kept the rear the same, just stretched out the front...and thought, yea, that'll do donkey! But hey, this body shapes all the rage in Europe and Japan. And ive had a few people tell me it looks identical to the new Merc A class, or whatever they call it nowadays. However, we can be guaranteed that the colt goes faster, looks tougher (from the front), will be serviced properly and if anything fails, Mitsubishi will actually replace it, which certainly can't be said for Mercedes!

Well, you know what they said about having a plain sheet of paper, ya? This means you can custom your own to your liking without having to be restricted by the original design :D So, its a pro & con thing :D

WTF are you on about, piece of paper...i bought a car....lol.
Actually radio, as similar to the merc as it looks, the car is built on the same chasis as the "smart brabus", but smart is owned my merc...lol.
LOL :D :D :D
lovecolt & Steve-B you guys crack me up. Great for a Friday laugh!
