And your english is fine man. You even have the internet slang down pat. My german probably sounds like a textbook or something lol

Hi Nick,
I ordered it online after chatting with the company. Now we (www.colt-turbo.de) get 10% discount on the whole CZT parts. ;) Paid via Paypal the first time and now through bank transfer.
I order quite often now from them for our Colt Club and can save you some money if you are interested. ;)

hey mate i see you have the same coilovers as me
mine make an annoying noise with every little bump i take
at first i thought it might be because they where still new but now after like 5000kms with them they still make the noise
did you have any problems, noises...?
Juri-1st
19-05-2011, 07:42 AM
Hi,
yeah i had that sounds, too. The problem on mine was due to some forgotten parts from the stock suspension which will need to be mounted on the KW Suspension. Like a washer or something like that. Without it the springs were making a clunking noise every now and then because on turns they were rotating too.
Check your stock parts again and compare with the KW fitting guide. After that my stock Top Mounts gave up... switched to Ralliart Top Mounts and Silent Blocks now. ;)

The results are comparable with the 666-Mod but you have better airflow because the holes from the 666mode are in some cirumstances CEL-causing atleast for me.
@sabeli:
Thanks, but i really like the AUS R-Version,too.
Why machine? Same gains as 666-Mod or K&N, Blitz etc. Kits. The gains these kits provides are not from the Open Filter alone but also from the raised Inlet Diameter. ;)

Hi Juri,
I contacted george to order the airbox mod.
I did 66mod also and getted ecu light just like you.
Maybe coz my ecu is reflaced but if this mod works for you it can work for me too:)
Maybe i get the 1,5 Version i dont know George know wich Version.

Yeah 666-mod causing some CELs for me. I got the V2 and have noe CELs related to that.
Im getting 1963 CEL-Code due to the MR-BOV is now the bottleneck in my car. A Forge RS Valve wont do that due its bigger design and faster valve.

whats a 666 mode?
Corosith
07-06-2011, 04:37 PM
It's a mod that involves drilling holes in the airbox to lean out the colt's fuel levels, it's a popular mod in Europe but has been met with a lot of sceptisism here in Oz.

It does nothing but suck more heated engine bay air into your intake but allows you to hear the psshht from the stock BOV.
sabeli
07-06-2011, 08:27 PM
how can it suck more heated engine bay air ... if the filter is boxed and it has its own intake from the front? ... unless they have pod filter setup that will allow more "hot" air to flow thru where you wouldnt notice any difference ;/... my cold air intake on stock box does more i think cause it does :) and its 15mins of job to do.

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3655/sam0982p.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/109/sam0982p.jpg/)
1st Cylinder way to lean (the burned plug should be left) and now no compression due to the burned spark plug.
Now im search of good upgrade parts, depending on what has been killed. Will know tomorrow (01am here right now :)) when i get the right tools for further disassembling.

OH NO, I dare say that piston is going to have a nice hole in the top of it.
Well at least you didnt snap a rod and destroy the whole engine block like we do in Australia
Message RUNUTS, he has wiseco pistons and some very nice phat engine rods
0dd0ne
29-07-2011, 03:16 PM
damn hey. like macca said good thing the block doesnt have holes in it. that being said the bore might be fucked... really depends on how bad it was.
sucks man, feel your pain.
Macca
29-07-2011, 05:01 PM
If he just had low compression and was able to test it, i guess the piston and rod are not damaged bar a small hole in the piston from heat
Mitsiman
29-07-2011, 08:59 PM
Sounds like it may be time for a rebuild - give us a buzz if you are after pistons and rods. We have been selling them faster than we can get them at this moment - seems a real demand in the European countries for them at this moment.

Will do when i know what needs to be renewed. :)
Edit: It wasnt low compression, -> 0 Bar ...
Now the head is down and as predicted a valve was burned causing fatal damage to the piston below, also scratched sidewalls on all four. I guess that forces me to get to the first oversize, but i will get it checked by an professional motorbuilder and follow his advise in choosing the right size.

Juri-1st
03-08-2011, 12:36 AM
No i mean 30EUR=40AUD damaged while disassembling (Belt cover has a crack but its plastic and as mentioned cost only 30EUR to replace).
Coudnt be arsed to pay that amount of money for someone who disassembles my engine and probably will also damage a part here and there without telling me. Nowadays they quote 90EUR an hour at the Mitsu Dealership and in the end an trainee will do the job. For putting it back together i will definitvely seek help from someone whith knowledge and the right tools.

OBX is a cheap Torsen type.
It has issues (I am told) and needs some parts upgraded before installation. Quality issues. Price reflects this.
Torsen T2 Type B is not supposed to be as good as a Quaiffe, but it is much cheaper. Warranty issues.
Quaife has lifetime warranty I think even if you race it.
Either way the are all torque bias differentials and they have the same problem in front wheel drive cars.
Lift a wheel and you have nothing.
(Yeah I know don't lift a wheel)
Probably great for Drags or straight line stuff, but for circuit work....!.
Still the best traction is a good set of tyres.
Ayu452
29-01-2012, 11:36 PM
i have only ever lift the rear wheel and tripod the car...i would be surprised if someone can get it two wheeled...
possibly on some of those crazy U turns in motorkhana...but on a track i highly doubt it...well at perth barbs anyways.
if you are getting it on 2 wheels...maybe its time to upgrade those springs :)
MYZ27AG
30-01-2012, 04:01 AM
"Lift a wheel" is just terminology, from my era anyway. Just means getting the inside wheel so light it looses traction and starts to spin.
I'm pretty sure members who do Wakefield and Marulan have this problem getting out of the last corner onto the straight at both circuits.
Yeah I know you can stiffen up everything to try to stop unloading the inside front wheel, but most members still want to drive something a little more road friendly than a race setup.
You have a Quaife. I think you are being defensive.
Any LSD is a bonus. Just finding the most suitable.
I'm fairly sure Carroll Smith recommends a Torsen for both front and rear wheel drive performance road cars.
I never said what I thought about the LSD's mentioned, I said from what I'm told.
I've had Quaifes, Clutch type and Viscous in front wheel drive cars. Track and street use. Not Colts though.
I personally would take the Viscous on the street anyday.
I don't have traction problems. I've always said get better tyres and learn to modulate the accelerator.
Guess my car is just too gutless, handles so badly and I just can't drive fast enough, like the fast boys and you.
So anyway here is a quote from some self professed guru. (Not me) Talking about Quaife.
It was on the internet so it must be right.....ey?
"When one wheel starts to slip the helical gears slide endwise with a force proportional to the torque on the wheels (not fixed torque and not proportional to speed). This applies a load on a sidewall friction plate to generate resistance to bias the output torque accordingly. This is in effect applying a braking force to the wheel that has less traction, but the reaction force is transferred to drive the other side rather than energy being lost as friction heat. Changing angle of the helical teeth changes the limit of torque bias. These can be designed with torque bias of 3:1 or up to 5:1. So if one wheel begins to lose traction the other wheel can receive up to 5 times as much torque as the one that is slipping. It also has the advantage of being able to transmit nearly all of the propshaft input torque to the wheels, proportioning torque appropriately up to the point where both wheels might spin at the same time.
Unfortunately five times zero is still zero, so when one wheel hits a patch of wet ice it will still spin, and the other wheel will be limited to five times the torque as the one on ice. This works well as long as the low torque wheel still has some grip and some available torque, but if you lift a wheel in a fast turn it will immediately revert to zero torque all around like an open differential. As such, this works best with well tuned suspension that can keep the drive wheels planted on the pavement. If you happen to be aware of the total loss of traction when it happens, and you understand how these things work, you can step gently on the brakes to stop spinning of the unloaded wheel. This will then apply up to five times as much torque as the light braking effect to the wheel that is not spinning, which will in turn overcome the light braking force and push the vehicle. Competition drivers may soon develop the technique of "left foot braking" while they keep the right foot on the throttle. (Incidentally this torque sensing differential works quite well in conjunction with a modern antilock braking system). "
Anyhow this is Colt CTZ Juri's thread and things are getting off on a tangent.
Any discussion should be elsewhere.
But there won't be any from me because I just don't give a f.....

Yeah back to my initial question... :D
What kind of gasket are guys using with 250+ hp ?

Stock head gaskets. The stock one is a 3 layer metal unit. A very good gasket.

haha mitsiman is going to be so devastated everyone knows what they are actually from now
and head gasket is good for more power than these engines can make
lol devoooo
and yeah +1 on the stock gasket. good shit. ive got an old one (but still fine) lying around if you want to double up.

It was known after the first Quaifes where sold due to the Product No: QDF38Z which was visible on some photos. ;) But due to the statement "Especially made for us" i wasnt sure until Todd and a friend with a Ralliart Diff measured them up for me. After that i got one myself and trial-fitted it. Same goes for other special made parts... but i dont want to go into detail here.
0dd0ne: Thanks but i already ordered a gasket kit. And keep in mind that im from Germany so its not very efficient to ship it :D
Im asking because i had coolant leaks before the engine failure occured. Just wanted to eliminate variables. :)

Go into detail about special made parts on Facebook ;)
And as for gasket, I meant more so if you wanted to try running more then one. I've thought about it to, to drop compression. Wouldn't be that much to ship it. I wouldn't ask for much either. All in the name of experimentation.

Sorry Juri off topic again, but why hasn't anyone mentioned torque steer in the reason of getting a lsd? I'm no tracker but even with a little increased in power from mods and tunes, i hate how it gives that unstable feeling in the steering wheel when u feel like doing some launches. ultimately will give u the same feeling while trying to put power while ur in a corner...
Since you guys have installed it, does it eliminate the torque steer??

doesnt eliminate but helps reduce the amount of torque steer
thats with a ATB LSD (Quaife)
i think a clutch type LSD would be better at reducing torque steer

Almost all parts are here now.
Latest Addition: Local made header with stock turbo flange.

That's a pretty sexy looking set of headers you've got there, certainly looks like a lot of work has gone into them.

Thanks Coro, yeah its locally made but has undergone some development till its final outcome.
And it it looks even better in the flash. :D

Finally the last parts arrived as my first supplier wasnt in the mood to deliver them... this one got all the goods as stated within 2 weeks, no delaying bullshit etc...! If any of you guys are interested, i can forward you his details.
Anyways got at the same time some CP Carillo Pistons in +0,5mm, 3x Eagle Conrods and some ARP Bolts for some friends which are also building their engines now. :) A second Piston set will be coming soon, but that is a special order which needs 4 weeks to be ready.

The pistons are CP Carillo and mine are Wiseco which are heavier (mine are the black coated ones...) Dont know if that will make any difference as the difference is around 40gr. each Piston/Rod Combination.

I think the specifications of those are worth more then the parts themselves.
For anybody else planning on going forged etc

nice stuff juri
hope to see your build on a meet somewhere this year
looking forward :)
forgot to ask: if the mini cooper s lsd fits our box, maybe you know if their box would fit on our car?
cuz a 6-speed with some good gear ratios would be the shizzle
or would it be possible to add a 6th gear to our stock box?
