Ok guys,

Here's my little blackie. Kinda regret for not getting a red one. Don't get me wrong, the black r.colt looks very good....just very hard to maintain its shining looks.

So, if any of you have any good black car cleaning tips, remember to tell me.

The moment my Mr and I found out that the Ralliart Colt was on the market, we drove down to the dealership and drove one home. I was torn between the Black and the Red, but had to come home with the Red.

The problem was a few months later I found a new home for Art (I call it Art)...................................... a track getting some instructions.:D :D :D :)

hey if you wanna keep you colt clean, try using meguires cleaning wax for a prep wax and then use zymol finishing wax on top! this wax is very expensive but i recommend it!

i use these products on my pulsar and you can feel that the paintwork is alot smoother and cleaner. it also keeps the car alot cleaner!!!

Just dig up some interesting pics of my little black colt. Its really pics where / when she's born. Did any of you guys actually take pic of your baby when you pick them up?

I still remember i was walking towards my dealership, then comes a Black RColt around the corner, turning into the front entrance. I knew straight away that's my baby. Here's how she look when i first saw her. Still receiving a last min touch up by the detailers.

The beast is finally back. And i must say i appreciate my rcolt more than before as it felt so much more agile and powerful than the Toyota V6 3.5L 200kw.

A short review of the Toyota Aurion:
Overall, its a disappointing ride for me. The brakes are shockingly crap. I almost freak myself out when i first got the car as it just doesn't seems like stopping. Then with the crap automatic system where it occassionally can't decide which gear to use and causes a sudden speed up then down... Cornering's not bad at all, except i found my body sitting sideways everytime i tried to corner with abit of excitment. However, having said that, the car is never meant to be associated with the word sporty and it does felt very comfy.

Yes, the YR-Advance Bars are imported from Japan. I got it through I.S Motor Racing in Sydney. I got it with a mates rate.

lovecolt
03-06-2008, 09:28 PM
My impression: Its bl**dy awesome :D Even at the lowest setting (Eco mode), you can readily feel the sluggish-ness of the stock e.throttle system gone straight away. And i can tell you that this is not one of those "because i buy it, so something must be different" kinda feeling. This Blitz Throttle Controller always starts off with a "off mode", hence one can always flip between stock and "xxx" mode on the road to feel the difference. Not only the sluggish-ness's gone, even changing gears are smoother now. Went over to Kenhiso's carwash place on my way home and let him test driven the car. He has the exact same feeling as i do.

In regards to the different modes, i reckon Eco is the best for street as it provide identical fly-by wire characteristics. SP1 for spirited drive/track. SP2/3....honestly, is too extreme....

If anyone's not convinced, you can test drive my car next week during the big sydney meetup :D

So Lovecolt, does it feel like some of the low rpm lag disappears with the use of this unit, (have you found that some of the low down lag in the colt due to the fly by wire throttle), and how much did you pay for it in japan (might be a good group buy from somewhere if it proves to be that good!:)

The lag's totally gone. The sec you tap the pedal, rev will start to build.

Hold on.....does fly by wire refer to the traditional wire linked throttle or electronic throttle system??? Confused myself :p But i'm referring to the traditional wire linked characteristics when i was describing the eco mode.

Bought it for RRP, which is 39900 yen (around 40x AUD). Allan's selling it at 459 AUD. But the problem now is, it appears to be out of stock worldwide (as according to the singapore guys as they only managed to get 3 unit despite the huge amount of order put through) Maybe our sponsor can look into this and see the availability.

27AME he means that its more sensitive to the touch and it takes less time for the throttle to go from 0% to 100% so you'll get a lot of wheel spin and a very very huge jolt forward in a faction off the time sorta thing lol!

Thanks to Ryan for doing the product testing for us.

04-06-2008, 02:50 AM
Fly by wire is an electrically controlled throttle system. The amount of throttle the computer directs to the engine is directly proportional to the travel of the wiper arm within the throttle assembly.

My understanding is that the furthur the throttle pedal is pushed down, the furthur the wiper arm will move.. the furthur the wiper arm moves the higher the DC voltage sent to the computer. (more resistance/ greater voltage drop)
The voltage range that is sent to the computer is between about 500mvDC to 2.41VDC.

The throttle controller is a convenience mod, not a performance mod, and sharpening up the throttle to be at 100% open with the boot just past half pedal will be understandably hard to control with any finesse...

Another new mod in the car now :D

http://www.yr-advance.com/colt/gazou/colt036.jpg
*Pic from YR-Advance website*

Impression: My boost jumps from 0.8 bar max (0.9 bar spiked) to 1 - 1.05 bar max (1.1 to 1.15 bar spiked) I can't really say how much better is the acceleration as i just don't flat pedal my car every single day. But improvement's definitely there ;) No CEL as yet.

Based on what i see, the boost will start dropping after 4 - 4.5k rpm to about 0.75 - 0.8 bar till about 5 - 5.5k rpm before dropping further to about 0.6 bar.

Bear in mind that i'm using my Greddy Profec B eletronic boost controller to read my boost (yes, its there only to read the boost till we can solve the CEL issue). For those who has been in my car might know, its placed in the little shelf underneath where our ASC and fog light button is. Hence, my human eyes can't possibly look at the tacho, boost reading & the road all at the same time :p

A video of the boost reading has been taken and will be uploaded on youtube very soon. Although we can't match the boost reading against the rev, but it gives you a brief idea.

How i test for CEL: As advised by Steve-b, i went to a rather steep hill road and flat pedal my accelerator. I have done about 4 trips like this and no CEL. But i will keep monitor for another few days before i can be totally sure that no CEL will occur.

Another quick update on the car as some would already know.......Japan spec HID Projector headlights + matching HID ballast kit. Some of you might remember my sales thread on my 06 headlights and might wonder why does it take so long before its done. Long story short, got the wrong sized HID kit (the correct JDM HID's D2C and not H7 of the OEM headlights) and took awhile before everything's sorted. Thanks to Macca for his patience and my 2 visit to Wollongong, its finally done :D. With my red interior strips, i believe i might be the first full JDM spec-ed ADM RColt :D

Macca: Why must it be so freaking hard for such a easy install :(

Oh! Thought i mention this. YR-Advance's exhaust piping's at 2.25inch. The stock piping after the first muffler, is 2.18 inch (if remember correctly), which later shrink down to something like 1.xx inch. This 1.xx inch section has been cut off and a replacement 2.25 inch connector pipe with flanch, has been weld to join YR-Advance's pipings.

Impression: Sound is awesome. With the YR exhaust plus custom pipe connection, i can definitely feel the improvement. Rev's alot easier and accelerates quicker for sure. And the rear of my car finally looked complete. YR-Advance, you completes me :D

Should be right i think. The exhaust on Hendos colt was mounted pretty close to the rear bumper and it never melted or warped - and he did track days/hills runs often enough.

Ok! Just install one of the pack. And no, the 2 pack is meant for different part of the door to reduce wind noise.

The pack that i have installed, is for the gap between the front and rear door. Before installing, i never realised that there's quite a big gap between the doors for the wind to enter and make noise. Didn't go out to the highway to test it, but did do a quick trial on a reasonable straight road. Even then, i can already hear the difference.

Next up, will be the 2nd pack which will do more noise isolation. Hopefully, my rcolt will have abit of euro quality quietness soon :D

Elegent: I can always import some for interested people.

Here's a pic of how it looked when its on, and how it looked when its taken off

Insulation On. Look out for the extra rubber strip closest to the outer door panel

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4021/4677917043_ec83775387_b.jpg

Insulation Off on another side. Best way is to go and take a look at your own RColt and you will realise how big the gap is, in between the doors.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4069/4678546816_d0d2cac58e_b.jpg

Unfortunately, its too dark in the carpark and i cbf to take a tripod to do a non flash pic to show how it looked when its closed.

For people that's interested, i can get them for $20 each pack (pickup) However, one really need 1.5 pack as the length in one pack (2.1) can only cover 1 side + 3/4 of the other side.

bunnybash: It min the wind noise but not the road noise. However, they do have noise insulation mats that we can put underneath our car mat to min road noise. I will be ordering some to trial fit myself. Therefore, keep an eye here for more reviews.

FINALLY.....finally my little beast has been lowered today. Massive thanks to Macca for helping me out (wouldn't be able to do it if i have a go by myself)

The spring of choice, is RSR Ti2000 from Japan. It is a titanitum made spring, which is rather lightweight. How much lighter you ask? Well, Macca used a rather inscienific way of measuring as his bathroom scale isn't precise enough, where he weight himself before and after with 1 spring. The difference's 0.7 kg (if that's even near the real weight difference) Either way, it does feel lighter without doubt.

Impression: The car's only a tad firmer than stock, but the bodyroll has been much reduced. My car height has been reduced from a 3-4 finger gap to a 2 finger gap. Overall, the car's looking and feeling just the way how it should be from stock :D

They are about $400+ landed. Pretty good bang for buck when you compare to TMR spring. 1 thing i forgot to mention on these springs, is that its also a progressive spring which is same as TMR, but not KING/PEDDERS. Plus, it has the lightweight factor that non of the springs in Aus has :)

The rims are in white. I got 2 sets of SSR. One's this and another set of SSR Type C (in white too). However, after putting both on for trial......i found myself liking this set instead of Type C (which i'm sure alot would say i'm crazy). Maybe i'm just fond on thin spoke rims, i do find the Type C abit thick for my liking.

You are right about a new change. As much as i liked my previous combo, the new rim really made the whole car felt new again (weird, but true). Plus, i think i'm getting old here......the lowered spring + low profile tyres on Sydney road is getting abit much for me :p

Is that the +42 offset? The Neovas look alright on the 7" wide rim, don't look to be bagging out too much.

Yes, its 42 offset. I think the 225's on the limit for a 7". Pic didn't really show how fat it is.

LOL! I thought everyone knew about the news by now. Yes, 2nd Jan is the day where my RColt ownership ended. Its being a good 5 years with the little beast. It will be missed dearly. But having said that, i will still be here to run the site. Not having a RColt, wouldn't stop me from my passion with the car :)

Put it in a very stealth location :D

Impression: Its pretty much what all Throttle controller do. But have to say, it seems to felt alot more awesome in a manual. But still damn awesome to have in a auto :)

finally another update on the cruiser.

Proud to say, i done the install all by myself. Might not be much for some, but consider i never even took my rcolt's bumper off by myself in the past (thanks Macca), this is a huge improvement :D
