Hi all - came across this site yesterday evening - not sure whether this has been raised beforem however if it hasn't, the following link enables you to upload a pic of your car and then overlay various wheel images that the application has on file and then render out the image to save to disk - much quicker than photoshop:

I was looking at black aftermarket rims with a polished edge, however after trying out some of the rims on the Wheel Simulator I am now thinking of going with gold wheels - what do you think? THe attached images state the brand of wheel - I am not particularly interested in that but rather what a certain style and colour of wheel would look like on my red coltr...

I think white rally style rims (Oz racing, speedline or Braid) look cool, but some dark rims or Time Attack style rims also look great with red, it's really a personal decision though when buying wheels as they are usually a pretty expensive first-off purchase. The problem I found with dished rims (particularly cheaper ones) with chrome, is that they get dirtied up so easily from bit of white hot metal from the brakes and the chrome looks crap before long. I couldn't make up my mind so I have a set of white Enkeis, set of gunmetal painted stock rims and a set of bronze 18" rims - the white ones are my daily driven wheels. 16" rims are probably the best size for the colt, but 17" rims will give you more choice in brands/styles.
In my opinion gold looks best with black or white colts, not red.:)

Thanks for the feedback - I quite liked the look of white wheels, however the thought of how dirty they would get put me off a bit - I am lazy as all f@ck when it comes to keeping thngs clean. I didn't think gold would look good, however was quite surprised how much better they looked than I imagined - I know I would have bothered photoshopping gold rims onto the car, so the wheel simulator has its benefits there.
The lightest rims I can find that won't cripple the bank are 17X7.0 Starcorp Racing Lite 5 which weigh just a tad under 7 kg. They come in gold, silver or gloss black - the black looks cheap in the photos, the silver is just not what I am after, yet the gold with polished/machined lip looks quite good in comparison and was surprised how they look on the car. I figure if I am going to spend money on wheels then they need to be light if upping the size from 16 to 17" otherwise it may just be an expense exercise for a bit of bling.
You are right though, Coro, it is a subjective/personal thing as to what wheels look good on a vehicle - when looking at rim styles I simply can't believe anyone would buy many of the available styles! No doubt having three sets of wheels like yourself helps solve these kind of dilemmas!

I only paid $250 for my Enkeis second hand, and you can usually pick up a second set of 06 colt wheels for $100-250. I actually think the 08 colt gunmetal wheels suit the red colt perfectly, especially if lowered a bit.

have a look at ommeh's car he has a red one with gold rims
Ah, cool, thanks for that - finally found some of his pics - yeah, quite like the gold.
@Coro - I like the 08 rims too, so am a little undecided whether to spend the money on new rims. Haven't come across much second hand stuff locally, however doesn't mean it isn't around, just got to find it I suppose...
