Is it worth getting the model with the adjustable dampers?
They are next on my list after a decent freakin tune. Sick of sitting so high/body roll and i dont want a hole bunch of body bracing.

I'd say that there would be arguments both for and against, but in my case, I would say yes, even if I am not in the habit of regularly changing the settings.
Whether it is worth it for you, only you can decide that.
i'd also agree its worth it, although i've only changed mine about 2-3 times since i installed mine.
if you do end up getting them, i'd recommend getting a pair of extenders for your front struts.. which i still need to get !

why? i've never even heard of this before
well if you plan to play around with damper, its kinda a pain to get to ur front struts to adjust.. thats where the extenders come into play.
which BC's are you planning to get? i've got the BR gold ones, i love 'em.

The extenders are just the extensions for the damper controls ontop of the struts.
A few mates have them. On the highest damper settings the car feels like stock sussy.
The lower settings the car feels sweet as. Take corners like a go kart

I thought all the models had adjustable dampening?

edsu if you can recall the part numbers pls post them, I'm ready for much tighter n lower suspension, keep hearing the worst shit re pedders n king, so will spend the extra to get coilovers, I'm over the stock set up its just too soft and sick of feeling like I'm in a 4WD.
Check the spring rates.....Mine are 6kg and 4kg and they are a bit harsh on Sydney streets but awesome on decent roads

the ones i got are from the BR series (the newer ones are gold in colour rather than red), the model number for them are B-18.
from memory, they don't list them on the australia website but its on the NZ one. i got mine via OTR, where roy works but in a group buy.
another option is to just call them directly and order directly (from NZ), i have a few friends who did that. they usually quote you a price delievered to your door, which is in NZ dollars!
edit: for those who have BC's, what damper rates do you guys use??

yep n that is me i bought his lol.
its not that bad.. i mean sure i hop up n down on cracked roads but on a Motorway or clean roads it is bloody awesome. it corners like glue.
for EXAMPLE i was doing a traffic drag @ parra rd with a s15 n i had to slow down cause i was hopping crazy.. when i had stocks i floored it without fear.
depends what u want it for... i thought about getting springs but i thought geez its 500 bucks including installation.. might aswell add another 500 n get adjustable coilovers and take it too the track for some time attacks.
I also i had mates that threatened to call me a RICER if i bought just springs lol.

Thanks edsu, going to get myself a set.
Anyone that has coilovers installed themselves? i dont imagine its too difficult or is that wishful thinking?

The most annoying part would have to be removing all the plastics to get to the front strut tops. Also make sure you push both front hubs IN at the top when tightening the 2 clevis bolts. Don't forget wheel alignment as well :)

i installed them myself, with the help of some friends.
as james said, its just all the misc stuff you gotta take off that takes time.
it took us a good full day to do it, but we didn't really have all the tools/space to do it efficiently.
make sure you get yourself extenders too (comes in pairs)! .. which i need to keep reminding myself to do

Yer plastic is a bitch but not hard. I installed the springs on my car myself and it took me about 3hrs~ If you're not confident then i suggest getting it done by someone~
Thx for all the advice guys, just made a purchase, BC VN series (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=280558556429&view=all&tid=561446287018) with spring rates 6front 4rear and the guy at Blacktown Wholesale Suspension was more than accommodating by throwing in 4 extenders.
He said it was his last set for a colt, but looking around ebay there are others at around similar prices, these VN series are the basic models, stuff like the BR series would be much pricier i would think.
nice :)
wow 4 extenders haha, if you don't end up using all 4 let me know..
i need 2 !

back r ok! front extenders... arent that accurate... i was told i was suppose to feel 32 or 34 clicks... i think i felt 26? this is with the extension cables. its not clicks at all it just gets harder to turn and when it eases up its counted as 1 click. gay lol. id drive 5 mins then get out paranoid to check if the left n right dampers are equal.

such a valid point
pedders quoted me around $875 for pedders fr & rr springs fitted with the camber pin kit, so its not like the price difference is even that much.
how much approx for a suspension place to fit coilovers you reckon?

under $200. they took 1.5 ~ 2 hours. i recon u can find a cheaper place cause they should be charging by hourly rates not by the job rate lol
how much approx for a suspension place to fit coilovers you reckon?Do the install yourself so you can save that money for the important bit of getting a proper alignment done at a suspension place where they can also corner balance, don't go to some Kmart auto or quick fit tire place where they only do a cheap but basic camber/castor/toe, there is much more to be checked and fiddled with when it comes to suspension geometry if you have made changes to your suspension or wheels.

not much point for a wheel alignment.
I dont think ANY of the BC coilovers for the colt come with a camber top plates, the stock ones are re used. and the only thing on our front suspention we can adjust is the toe in and out thru the steering rods.

If your going to set your coilovers lower than the stock suspension you WILL need a wheel alignment.

after i installed the coilovers i headed straight to a wheel alignment shop lol,. it was WAY off

i'm pretty sure they do come with camber top plates, for the front struts anyway.. unless i'm thinking about something else.

i'm not even gonna fuck around with pedders or kings then
$200 is fuck all
i cant do it myself, i've never done any suspension work and my car is a daily so i'll just drop it to some wrench monkeys to do
