With those dodgy manifolds cracking, could this be a solution?
this is a galant with Evo VI engine... Notice the 'motorcycle' style tension springs holding the tubes in place...

cant see how this will work, so the tubes arent even attached to the flange? wth???
no matter how hard the spring rate is you will still get exhaust leaks

I doubt if they get leaks. F1 cars used to have this sort of set-up, it works better than you'd think.

Yeah, all they do is hold the tubes in place, the exhaust goes through it... They would leak like hell if you blocked the exhaust...

my car was running a manifold with no weld...kinda like the collector was slotted into the turbo flange, and with the xhaust move it would move up n down...i tied it up with copper wire...sounds was crazy...like running scream pipe...hardest bit is tuning low rpm...it leaks gas hence the 02 sensor tries to calibrate AF...so u end up runnin more rich...i could tell my the fuel smell @ the engine bay...power wasn't to bad either...high rpm went alright...
