RPWs is better as it reduces throw in both fwd and aft and also left and right movements and not by lowering the gearknob

I can only comment on the RPW unit and say that it feels a little stiffer than stock, and significantly shorter throw in both directions. I'm very happy with mine :)

I think you get it the other way round.
RPW: Lower the gearknob
Beatrush: Higher the gearknob.

RPW's kit does not change the height of the gear knob Ryan (I have it in my car) :). I have no idea about Beatrush unit though.

I remember when i test drive Steve-b's RPW short shift, it is lower than stock.....but then again, he has a different gearknob. But Beatrush definitely makes the knob higher than stock.

Yeh RPW made it so they didnt lower the gear knob.
With the beatrush one the lengthen the part under the ball pivot, to make more movement where the cable sits.
On the RPW one they did the same. but they also lengthened the L shaped swing arm that the left / right movement cable attaches to thus give it more movement
the beat rush is a drop in shift stick, which can only make the fwd aft movement cable longer.
RPW have modified the stick and as its a whole base shifter they also modded the L bracket which beatrush dont have.
I have RPW SS with the beatrush mounting bushes.
the mount bushes come seperate to the shifter kit i think. Ryan can confirm that.

The beatrush shifter is a few Cm taller then the stock. There isn't much change in stifness but the throw in all directions is shorter.

No not in all directions, only when changing with the stick going from the front to the back of the car.
when you moove it from the left to the right side the movement will be the same if not more if ita a little taller
Here is why

You can see that black arrow, that lever arm moves up and down when you move the stick left and right, you can not make that longer to make the throw shorter, due to that L arm it connects to.
That L arm is made longer where it points down by RPW they had to trim a little plastic from the base to make it do that.
now the fed and aft movement can be moved lower to make the shift shorter as it doesnt have any connecting arms, the cable goes stright to it, the only issue making it to long it will hit the floor of the car.
That pic IS the RPW shifter.
This is how a shirt shifter works

and this is the beatrush one.

I have the beatrush unit, it definitely has shortened back and forth movement, but the sideways movement is still as sloppy as the standard shift. You get used to the shifter very quickly, but will have to fit the beatrush bush kit that macca mentioned to see what difference it makes. These are available through beatrush's ebay site for around $50, if they are not up for sale, just message them and they should be able to put some up. The beatrush unit is great for those on a budget, they are currently selling for only $100 and are quite easy ti fit, but if you have the cash, the RPW unit would be a superior mod.

Hi there, RPW are a site sponsor (checkout their section in the site sponsors) and also have a website www.rpw.com.au, or just PM Mitsiman for details on purchasing the product.:)

RPW are a private one off shop in australia, Not a huge operation, so nope, no SG dealers, you have to deal direct with them in Perth, Australia.

Thank you. I check it on RPW website and understand that this RPW short shifter kit is an exchange unit.
Means i would need to return my stock to them if understand the meaning correctly.
Why do i have to do this ? any reason behind it ?

That's correct, you receive the modified shifter, and then you send back your original one (once they receive it, part of the purchase price is refunded). I believe it is done this way to avoid having to keep stock of expensive colt shifter assemblies bought directly from Mitsubishi, so there is always an exchange shifter in stock received from the previous purchaser - makes sense for local sales, but might be a bit harder for international customers. PM Mitsiman to see how he can help you out!
