View Full Version : So, I took my Colt in for a Service......
Took my car in Last week for its 90k Service down at Albion Pk Mitsu, and when I pick up the Car, they said they found a small leak from the Steering Rack, and that they had ordered a new one, and it would be replaced under warranty!! :D
Fast Forward to today, and I dropped off the Car and given a Proton Gen2 as a Courtsey Car, and they said they need it for a full day.... Fair Nuff!!!
Get a Phone call just before 5pm, "Sorry Sir, Your Car is Finished, However there is a Blackout in the Area, an your car is Stuck up on Hoist"
Hopefully I get it back tomorrow!!
BTW, anyone else had a Steering Rack Replaced??
Cheers
Milo :D

Gday, just guessing that an electric motor operates the hydraulic side of the rack???????

Yep that would be my guess as well. Could be wrong but I suspect thats the most likely option.

There is no hydrolic side of the steering at all. It's an electric motor bolted to the steering rack to assist the rack moving.

control arms and steer rack i believed was changed after my crash...
steering was more precise for about a month a 2 and it felt nice n tight
then it become a normal soft handling...which i don't enjoy as much..not as responsive
doesn't get mentioned much...but apparently there are a lot of rubber steering mounts that can be replaced with different rubbers...like any mount...
making steering more precise.
i no drift cars change a particular part in the steering column from rubber to metal to make steering more precise. (forgot the particular name)
it removed the dead zone...its the Metal steering column bushing between steering shaft and steering column
and then u can get new steering rack bushings...

I was thinking exactly the same thing from past experiences with hoists at work - lame excuses can only last for so long!
