Hey guys, thinking of replacing my rear muffler with some stainless steel straight pipe up until the first muffler.... Do you think it would be too loud?

unbolt the muffler...there is a clamp above the rear torsion beam...loosen that and take out the muffler
see how it sounds...

Yep, I reckon it would suck. I put an RPW catback in and didn't have a tip which meant that the end of the exhaust was in under the rear bar - droned like mad and was pretty loud.

I think that if you cut the stock pipe where it gets necked down in front of the rear section and replaced it with just a resonator and a reasonable tip I think that you would end up with a good quiet freeflowing zorst.

With a YR solenoid fitted (or maybe pill removal) and an exhaust like that I reckon it would be a real sleeper. Quiet, reasonably free flowing and I think the A/F ratios would be pretty good.
This is all based on the vibe of the thing.... not tested at all.

But then if you want it loud then a straight section will tick the box for sure.

I desperately want to do something with the exhaust....... can anyone post a diagram what the colt stock system is - ie where the resonators and sensors are, and then where the rpw exhaust replaces from (cat back) i take it it misses the sensors? i want to get a better growl. - but i wanna do it extra cheap :)

it sounds finemate. I got mine straight thru from the restrictor back so the whole rear is 2.5 with stock centre muffler. Dont cut all the mufflers out though. Insanely loud

More or less what I was thinking of doing, leaving the centre muffler in. Have you got a sound clip or anything Daed?

The following is 2.5" mandel bent

Cost $250ish for the pipes

$300ish for the mufflerm you can choose a cheaper muffler

Its now in the bin, and been replaced with 3" pipe under an insurance clame.
