I think they came up against the "ECU brick wall" just like most other mobs have and put it in the too hard basket.
Back to topic, the bathurst edition Evo looks the goods - wish I had the dough! Those wheels look mighty tasty!

I reckon its a case of ROI...
There are more evo's (and lancer ralliart's) out there and generally more people to sell stuff to... Colt stuff has a fairly limited market.
Makes more sense to put cash into the stuff thats going to make you the most cash back, they are a race team after all and more cash = more racing

TMR sets Lancer Evolution Bathurst Edition package price
discount new cars » Get the best price on a new Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi's hot-house, TMR Performance, has confirmed pricing for the Bathurst Edition Lancer Evolution model.
The TMR upgrade costs just $8250 over the price of the Evolution model and adds a good dose more power -- an extra 30kW for a total of 247kw -- and torque, now at 436Nm, up from 366Nm. As TMR says, the engine upgrade makes the Bathurst Edition the most powerful Lancer Evolution ever sold in Australia.
The limited-run Bathurst Edition model also features a TMR-developed hi-flow exhaust and TMR Progressive Rate Spring package which reduces the ride height by 30mm for improved handling.
Just 100 of the Bathurst Edition Evolutions will be built by respected race engineer Alan Heaphy and his team at TMR Performance.
Wearing stylish black powder-coated 18-inch spoke forged alloy wheels with TMR centre caps, and Bathurst Edition badging front and rear, the TMR-treated Evolution looks an even more serious small sporty than the 'regular' hot Lancer Evo.
The TMR premium includes a certificate of authenticity and each car's build number is detailed on a badge placed on the dashboard. The upgrade is fully supported by Mitsubishi's industry leading 5/10 warranty.
TMR's Bathurst Edition package can be applied to the Evolution range -- both manual or SST twin-clutch models.
Interested customers can arrange the TMR upgrade with Mitsubishi dealers stocking the Lancer Evolution and Ralliart models. All Mitsubishi dealerships stocking Ralliart models can offer servicing for the Bathurst Edition Evolution.
TMR also offers a 'Club Spec' entry-level competition package for both ADR and non-ADR (Lancer Evolution RS) models. The 'Club Spec' version includes all necessary safety gear for both circuit and tarmac rally competition and is priced from $16,500.

strange that you pay $8000 more for the bathurst edition, but $13000 more for the club spec version with TMR which has 270kw?
read on more and minus $4400 for a roll cage, minus $1400 for a 6 point harness & modified seatbelts, minus $400 for the fire extinguishers and 'delete fog laps' and you've just gotten more power, for less money
i guess it's all about having a car that's produced in limited numbers & has warranty ey
This.
As soon as you do the 270kw mod, warranty gone.

The FQ400 is manual only. The highest the SST version of the Evo Ten goes is FQ360 = 270kW. TMR do have a 270kW tune for the SST, but they're not offering it with this car for whatever reason.
TMR do offer a 402hp (300kw) modification for $5k. Price includes the twin turbo back stainless steel exhaust, and labour.
If you weren't going to worry about warranty, you could pick up an ex-demo evo X from a dealer for $55k, then get the 300kw mod and the TMR Lowered uprated spring Kit for Road and Minor Track use, and for $60k you'd have the most insane car on the road. It would be awesome.

Pretty sure it's manual only tho.

yeh from what i heard from my mate his SST slips at his 300kw at all fours
yeh from what i heard from my mate his SST slips at his 300kw at all fours
i love how everyone raves about this twin clutch technology and its super quick changes and then they can't handle over 300kw
i said it before and i'll say it again, fancy paddles are no substitute (yet) for a gear lever and clutch pedal in performance passenger cars
(supercars are another story)

but its near the same design anyway.
A stock evo clutch wouldnt take 300kw well
the only difference is there are aftermarket clutches inlike in the sst box :(
Regarding the SST, mitsubishi have getrag build an SST gearbox for a 217kw engine. Why would they spend more money, reducing their profit margin, to make an SST gearbox for a 300kw engine? 99% of people who buy evos with SST boxes aren't going to be putting the car up to 270kw or even 300kw. The SST obviously handles the 245kw of the bathurst edition without any problems, so Mitsubishi have put a box in that handles at least 30kw more than factory spec., and it apparently handles the 270kw mod too.
Also, surely it's the torque and rate of acceleration, and not the total potential power output that is going to cause slippage.
I'm sure TMR would have no problem configuring an evo with the SST to run 300kw without any problems. and if you get someone else to do it, and you end up with problems, then you're getting what you paid for.

yeh this was sorta my point :)
to me, the SST box seems like a hinderence with not being able to upgrade it and slow take off (with Evo).
i've not driven in an evo with the SST, so i'm basing the slow take off thing on the WRX STi vs Evo comparo on Fifth Gear...
i've had a blast in a SST Golf GTi Pirelli though, seriously quick thru twisty stuff.
in any case, i'm a bit old skool and prefer the driver engagement of a manual

But if you were modding the car then you wouldnt have bought the SST version :P

There'll be few people taking their evos past 270kw... And those that do will simply be pioneers...
Heaphy reckons the SST is taking the punishment @ tarmac events with high ambient temperature being the only issue...
If I had enough money for an evo and enough dosh to get it past 300kw, I'd also have enough dosh install a tougher box if I had to, be it the manual or some other option...

Ahhhh, shh!
You haven't driven one! Or been in one!
I've driven an Evo 10 with the SST and it's AMAZING!
There are upgraded clutch packs for them now, and yes, it's the torque that causes problems, not power.
Certain workshops can also alter the software for the SST which allows for quite brutal wheel spinning takeoffs.
Guys, check out the American EvoM forums and see what those guys are doing with their SST equipped Evo 10's!
my bad
i was under the impression that you couldnt mod them
i still stand by my first statement that a manual is better than the stock SST, modded may be a different story

Actually, if anyone test driven both stock manual & SST, you will know that SST wins the manual in any situation including drag.(stock to stock)
Initially i thought i have driven a better example SST, but according to the review by other people (average joe and not based on 5th gear or whatever) the SST seems to be quicker than manual stock to stock.
Seconded Nic's comment. SST is amazing :)

Gday , they say that all gearboxes of the future will be sst type [ & the technology is improving as well ], i look forward to the wife having one of these instead of a sloppy power sapping automatic, that way she could drive a hot car as well, [ wouldnt mind a lancer ralliart in the future ]!!!!!!!!
