Being new to turbo cars I'm not sure of the best place to "T" into for a boost guage. Would the hose from the intake manifold to the BOV be ok or is there somewhere better? Has anyone found a good spot to run the hose through the firewall yet?

Yeah that would be very good thanks white horse, im in the same boat. About to put mine on as well. On the weekend we t'd it into the line from the bov to the engine. but my mech said that wouldnt give a super ack reading.

i haven't fitted a boost gauge yet either but want to soon, but I can tell you that if you look closely, there is a hole in the firewall that is blocked with a grommet. From memory, it is sort of behind the battery / airbox and down a bit. We found it when we were looking for a way to mount a gauge. Should come through just near the glovebox :D

yeah, i was going to remove the facial ontop of the centre dash and try and run the wires up the back of the dash and out the top there. just put a little hole in it and run them that way. i hate when wires come out of vents and stuff, looks so untidy.

put the t onto the pipe that goes between the bov and the manifold or between the FPR and manifold and 2 get to that grommet your best bet is 2 take out the strut brace and maybe the battery. and 2 find where the wires come out on the other side get a needle and poke it through from the engine bay then feel behind the white box or silver box in the cabben i cant rebember without lookin then cut away with the stanly knife

One way of installing the T of your boost gauge is this

This is not my car but this is how i have it installed myself. No pics from my car though.:D

Yeah thats the line I was referring too. I'm not sure why he connected into it there though as the line runs under the engine cover and could be hidden nicely closer to the intake manifold.

Its a matter of choice i suppose. No difference in readings though.:)

Here are the photos of the T-joint and the vacum hose following the right hand side panel into the cabin, hope this is what you are after

Yeah I'd like some photos too. I cant even work out where the wire would run through the firewall from.

This should help, I'll add in anything else I find (used search!) There is a rubber grommet in the firewall just behing the air filter box, route it through there. Also remove the whole airbox as it will make life a lot easier when doing this.

mine comes out from where the carpet is on the passenger side. if you pull the right hand side of the passenger carpet there is a grommet there which is perfect for a centre console install

I want to put mine on the drivers side piller. Suggestions on the hole then? Or would it be the same as that one^

i plan on running mine in a pod on the top of the dash near the pillar so i can run wire and tube down through side demister vent. hoping i can find a grommet somewhere on the drivers side. anyone know of an easily accesible power wire under the dash to save me poking holes in sheething :P

The grommet is on the passengers side to the out oars side of the car near the abs module.

Power use the headunit power.

Like Macca mentioned, regardless of where you have the gauge mounted, the easiest place is to bring the tubing through the grommet behind the airbox, and as others have mentioned, this comes out in the passengers footwell at the top of the carpet. Then it is easy to run it up behind the dash over to the drivers side. To make things even easier you can remove the top panel of the dash to see where you are when routing the tubing/cabling (there is a thread on how to remove this panel).:)

That's where i ran my power cable for my amp.

Just wanting to find out how to run the cable to the spot above th drivers aircon vent.

only one grommet to run stuff through, damn, didnt want to remove battery and airbox etc. i will try without no doubt haha.

i plan on running mine up to the drivers a pillar area by drilling a small hole through the ducting that runs to the quarter glass demister vent, then out that hole and up through the vent. small blob of silicon to reseal the ducting and should all be sweet.

ive seen that top panel removal tread, are the wires to stereo easily accesible from above it?? cant remeber reading/seeing that in the thread

Macca

You won't need to drill the duct. It's got a flange you can poke the feed thru, but getting the hose out the side demister hole isn't easy I gave up doing it on ryans car lol.

alba

why would you bother with the demister? it's easy to snake up thru all the spaghetti behind the HU, just take out the HU to retreive it, its a 2 min job

it took maybe an hour to put in my boost gauge and i'd never done one before, granted my job probably isnt as neat as macca's OCD level work though haha :p

crabman

i hae a snake from work i can use to get wiring/tubing through no drama's.

snaking up the head unit makes sense if you want gauge in the center, but i want it off to the side, right infront of that vent :P

ah i get it, you want it near the a-pillar

yeh mines ontop of the centre top dash panel
