I installed the RPW front pipe last night, went out for drive, so nice, has more pulling power and more grunt on third gear, its now lag free and gear change from 1st to 2nd feel smoother, still has my factory catback system only replaced straight through muffler, and no other mods, feels great but i found there are some noise coming from engine bay when take off slowly, it sounds like the wheel slip when take off but sure is not,and i am 100% sure the noise was not there before the front pipe replaced.
Could that be the bracket to use only one bolt to hold the front pipe which vibration noise more appear and factory set up have spring type bolts in the middle piece of front pipe which reduce the vibration?
I know its not really a issue, but just wonder why the noise is there!
Please advice who have their RPW front pipe replaced or any member know a lot about the exhaust system!
Very please with the RPW front pipe quality and really good value for money!:)

I found the noise finally, took my car to Mitsubishi dealer to get it service last week and told them there are some tapping or clicking noise when take off, and i though may be the suspension bushes worn out or crack, therefore hope this could be the warranty issue and they found out the RPW front pipe hitting the sway bar, they explained when the car take off, the engine tends to pull back and they show me while the car is on hoist, they use a very small device can see the damage done on the down pipe, the flexi joint area is being scratched, and the mechanic explained the clearence between the front pipe(flex joint area) and the sway bay is minimal so it hits the front pipe all time when take off, and he said the size of RPW front pipe is a lot bigger than the factory as we all know, therefore there are not much room betwween the down pipe and the sway bar.
I have discussed the problems with David at RPW, and he need me to send off the existing front pipe first, then put it side by side with another one so that he can ensure the new front pipe have sufficient clearence before he send it back to me, may be my RPW front pipe is bad batch or most of us have the clearence issue?
Please advice!

ive had the RPW front pipe and cat back for about 3000km plus, i havent had any issue except if i have more then 2 people in the back i can head the exhaust hitting, which is due to the fact the car is lowered, and when i take off i only hear the clutch problem noise, which ill try get fixed in my next service other then that i dont recall any issues like yours, maybe it is a bad batch, not sure..

Think mine developed that issue too mate, although mine is sold now so the new owner may have to have it looked at some time. Didn't seem a major thing just one of those little annoying things you get with mods

just putting it out there mate i dunno what state your from but an easier option rather than sending back etc would be to take it to an exhaust shop and get them to heat it up near the front and put a bit more of a bend in it. Quick, easy solution and any decent shop will be able to work it out quickly.

I am in Hobart Tas, i have taken to exhaust shop to figure out what we could do and the owner at exhaust shop told me he can heat it up to bend it a bit but only can lift a couple mm so i didn't bother doing it but i know its a lot of hassle to send it back to RPW because David want me to send my existing front pipe first so he can put it side by side to ensure the new one would have sufficient clearence before send it back to me, sounds very helpful but in fact......... i need to go to exhaust shop to put my factory front pipe back on because to replace it under jack stand when we first did it at home, it was't easy at all especially the factory bracket are fairy hard to come off, i was expecting David will swap me the good batch one then i send him back the old one, save time and money, cost me $90 already to check that noise from dealership which is not warranty issue and now again need go to exhaust shop to take the RPW front pipe off, put the factory one back on and 2 weeks after the new one arrived, go to exhaust shop again replace the new one, its all about time and money involved, i guess they just want me to put up with it and OK fine, but i guess RPW still have some stocks of front pipes which may have no clearence issue( good batch ) but unlucky mine have issue, i wonder why can't he call up any Rcolters in WA and try test fitted on their car to check the new one would have sufficient clearence so that i don't need to send off the existing one first, makes it difficult for me then i just put up with it, i was very exciting the new dump pipe will be ready by end of Jan next year because i must buy it but now forget it ..........:(

by the way, i reply a email to David at RPW on monday was trying to confirm what he said because i was't exactly understand what he mean in that mail but he didn't reply me, very disappointed with RPW aftersale service, i won't buy any more products from them because as Darthrev said (Think mine developed that issue too mate),his car was a test car to build this front pipe, so i assumed they knew the problems there but when i first asked them the clicking noise the next day i installed it but they didn't tell me could be the clearence issue, just told me to check exhaust leak and the bolts could come loose, all fucking bullshit, and waste me $90 to get it checked at dealership.

My down pipe was fine for ages then developed a small rattle at low revs taking off in first gear, was random though - sometimes sounded then sometimes was okay, sounded like a loose piece of metal flickering around? I was begining to think the cat in it was coming loose maybe, might be a different probelm  only started about a month before I onsold it anyways else would have had it back at RPW for them to check/fix. Will recommend the new owner takes it there when/if he joins this site.
Has anyone else had a rattle from the RPW downpipe so far?

they did do a test fit of new pipes. I know, it was my car. The rattling noise could have been anything. If rpw had known that you were fitting the pipe then the most common causes would be .human error such as loose fitted bolts etc. Can't you just rotate it a bit by loosening bolts to see how that will effect. Taking to dealership was a waste of money and time. If something starts knocking in the car immediately after you install a part then clearly that must be the problem. If it's knocking that means there would be marks and easily identifiable. No need for mitsubishi mechanics. Just look yourself. Mine knocked ever so slightly but after maybe 400km it stopped and found it's neutral position. And rather than emailing him surely you could have just rung if it's that urgent. Rather than instantly complain about them perhaps pursue them and give a call or two or another email.

Mine was only put on the other day and it rattles a bit. But it could be the cat back which was put on the same time. Im yet to find the time to get it on a hoist though. Might have just been the installation
theres still something i really should add.... but i wont yet....

haha that sounds concerning. What should you add? A solution to what may be the problem or a gripe

probably a gripe...

We were not aware of any cleranance issues on any of our front pipe kits in relation to them clearing over the first structural support. That is why we did not mention it in the first place when you contacted us about the rattle.
Of the cars we have fitted them to in WA, that has certainly not been the issue, the issue has always been the clearance around the rear of the petrol tank with the increased diameter of the pipework especially if the vehicle was lowered.
As for email replies, be fair for a moment, its four weeks to xmas and we are absoloutly snowed under. I have around 50 emails in my inbox ot go through and when you get at least 30 a day, it takes time to go through these. Xmas is our busiest period with us closing for holidays and trying to finish work off.
If you requrie urgent attention there is always the telephone .......

i get the rattle taking off real slow aswell as driving sometimes. Gonna get rpw to check it on dyno but got a feeling it's the cat aswell. When the engines cold it's quite noisy but guitens down once warm. Only other time i hear it is pulling into car port real slowly.

Same as what mine had, might be something RPW wants to investigate and fix eh. (My car was lowered too btw but don't hink that is an issue in this case)

Just wanting to reinforce for everyone, if there is any issues or failures of these units, with no external causes, they will be covered and replaced under warranty.
The same goes if the front pipe kit is having clearance issues and not fitting properly, we will replace it at no charge. This has only recently come to light that some people have had front pipe clearance issues, which has come as a surprise to us.
We are not hiding our head in the sands and we will be inspecting all the remaining units we have in stock and checking to see if there are any others which may have been manafactured incorrectly.

what would classify an external source mitsi? Crash damage or other mods. I will come down maybe thursday or friday so you can have a listen. I'm almost certain the down pipe cat has become dislodged. Classic sound like when the stock cat gave up. You can have a listen anyway. I know i won't get warranty so no doubt i will just smash the cat out again.

Usually externally hit for example lowered car hitting curbs or some other hard item hitting the front pipe.
Certainly drop through happy to have a look. If the cat has died then it will be replaced no problems.

if to be replaced under warranty due to the knocking.....does this mean you would send out one and us to return one after you have provided us with one? Already paid once for a shop to put it on for me...
had a similar problem with my old car with products, went in...got charged for it
