This guy in Jap has done a conversion for his antenna. Cost him $3400 Yen. This is the link in his website.....if you know how to read jap. http://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/195960/car/93722/406654/parts.aspx

Thread revival FTW, been looking through pages of members pics but cannot find where people are getting antennas from. Anyone care to elaborate?
I tried a swift antenna and it was a mis-match to the thickness of the base...
Having hissy radio is really starting to shit me, the stock fishing rod snapped completely about 3wks after I bought the car. :(

Bunny tuck mine off and shortened it on the last WA meet! Works fine and looks good.... Didn't cost anything
I accidentally got it wrong, and took the antenna from a PT Cruiser, but then screwed the entire PT Cruiser onto the top of my Colt, and now I have a giant PT Cruiser on top of my car upside down connected at the aerial.
As a positive, the FM radio reception is now brilliant.
I'm going to take it to Wakefield and whatever time I get I'm going to divide by 2.

Mine is off a current model lancer. Just tried to see if it would fit last time I got it service at Mitsubishi. Screws straight on and it no longer hits my kayak.

Hey guys, was trolling through here looking for a solution to my antenna dilemma - I managed to fracture it at te base and now have a floppy antenna (I hear there is a nasal spray to help with this but haven't had any luck yet...), while I haven't priced a replacement I am intriguied by a the short antenna (as this will prevent it from happening again - it got snapped reversing near a low tree branch) or as I have read, it sounds reasonably easy to shorten an existing one...perhaps I can detatch and cut it, but a post about it from someone who has shortned the OEM version would be awesome.
Cheers - thagee

Did anyone get this one from ebay?

Does it fit up well and look good?

Davo,
That's the one I bought. The base isn't the correct diameter so there's a pretty big step up from the part mounted on the roof to the antenna. Works okay though.
I'd trade it for a stock antenna and trim it down.

Oh damn.
Thanks for the heads up mate. Think i will end up just chopping the stock one

I've tried the stubby antenna and two different length stock antennas and I'd suggest simply chopping the standard Ariel down and reattaching the little stub on the end with clear silicon, as it gives the best reception and costs nothing.

There are genuine EVO 8 MR Antennas that i saw on VisionR site that are shorter. I was talking about these to some of the WA guys on the cruise, but not sure if they would fit the base well.

I found if you move the factory one to the most upright position, it turns your RColt into a RC Colt!
I switched the ones betweeen the Lancer and Colt. I personally think the short antenna on the colt looks shite. It reminds me of the bogan days when guys put roof mount antennas on thier HQ's.
Or you could just remove it altogether and plug the hole. Or fit a carbon roof to cover the hole. You can get invisible antenna that stick to the glass.

I've seen some of those with the flare at the bottom look really dicky on our base... It'd have to still be narrower than our base to not look dicky...
I just got pliers and snipped mine in half... Looks heaps better and reception, on the rare times I've used the radio, is fine...
