Hey Hey
Well after buying a Lancer 9 years ago (my partners car), it's making some funny noises these days, and with rust comming through the roof it's time for something new.
Our inital thoughts were to get a Lancer evo, however out of our budget.
We sat in the bottom of the range lancer, and it seemed so lame, i just couldn't do it.
I spotted the Ralliart Colt at the back of the yard, looked cool, so we took it for a test drive, is awesome, i was sold. It was the 06 model with the recaros which i liked, but my partner hated. So we have to get an 08. Personally i think i'd grow tired of the recaro's on the longer trips(getting old i think).
So found one in melbourne (a demo model - 45kms). Ordered as of today, with cruise control and a electric sunroof.
Extra's ordered: 18x7.5 rims, and a 2din dvd player, jbl splits and amp.
I've always had muscle cars and am currently riding a sportsbike for transport, so this is a bit of a change for me, gotta get used to turbo's!
I think i've read this forum twice over and would like to thank everyone allready for the info and questions answered!
Learn't lots allready, like dont tint front windows(scratchs) offsets for rims,
lack of cruise control and bargain with the dealer to get extras like legit floormats etc.
Catchya Round.

Welcome Aboard. I too have been reading as much as I can pending the order of my own RColt.
Please tell me more about the optional cruise control and Sun Roof.
Are they being dealer installed ? Will the 5 / 10 warranty apply to them as dealer fitted accessories ?
If you dont mind me asking what was the cost of the roof and cruise.
Thanks.

Hi,
The Cruise and sunroof are after market, but dealer installed.
I'd say they'd have a standard ganantee, not the mitsubishi 5/10.
Sunroof $1800
Cruise $695
Couldn't beleive it didn't have an option for cruise, but it's supposed to be a "city" car i guess.
Most of the cars I've had, have had cruise, can't go back lol.
Hope this helps

lol... I'm in my 40s and recently did a trip to queensland. 14hrs non stop each way... The recaros were magic, not a stiff or sore back in sight...
My partner in her late 30s also commented on how good the recaros were long distance...

welcome to the forum, what colour did ya end up going?:D
I've had a black car before, it only looks good if its clean lol, so i went white.
In regards to moding the car, many of my previous cars were "tinkerd" with, and always had problems for one reason or another.
Now its:do it once and never touch it agian.

This is the one im getting:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/7-LCD-IN-DASH-CAR-GPS-DVD-DiVX-IPOD-PLAYER-Navi-Basic_W0QQitemZ260441239440QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_C ar_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3ca381ef90&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C 301%3A1%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A50
After much research, getting quotes from local car audio places.. the most basic dvd player was $1800. to rich for me.
So i went with this one, beause its around $500 and it's a aussie distributor with a warranty.
I've had one of these in my last car, and had no problems with it. The menu system looks a bit basic, but the audio and picture are good.

I had a cheap chineese one in my car, its sucked and didnt last long.
I got over the screen, now I have a top end eclipse cd unit, but I need it :D lol im picky
I was looking at the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT
http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Navigation/In%20Dash%20Navigation.aspx
Its RRP was $2500 but JB's said they would do it for $1,500.
It does dvd, cd, ipod, navigator, phone etc.
Has anyone had one or anything to do with it.
I dont want to save my ass off and then it is average lol. :)

Ive got my panel filter on the way. lol.
Then again, i just sold my skyline that was fairly quick so im enjoying the fuel economy for a while. need a decent sound. hehe
its hard to buy a deck in perth for under 300. haha. but ill have a look around. :)

Do a search on window tint scraching, there's plenty of posts about it.

OK, these are the rims i had ordered!
There cheap 18x7.5" Apec's offset +40
They have come with some cheap tyres, i'll run with them untill there spent.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh99/triplesided/5c3f_1.jpg
They arrived around a week later, unfortunatly they were soaking wet inside the packaging and 3 out of 4 of the rims had the balancing weights loose or had fallen off, so i had to get them rebalanced.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh99/triplesided/DSC00014.jpg
I have allways liked matt black rims, so i went about sanding the red line off the edge, and sanding back the chrome centre cap, a $3 spray can of matt black and this is the result.

There now on the car, i'll post a pic soon as i take one!

Are you planning to lower your car with the 18 inch? Because it might be too high :)

Nice rims, almost what I am after except in 16".
A - watch out for potholes, they will destroy your tyres (as they did with mine)
B - do not lower the suspension too low - go with the TMR springs as they are lower, but a conservative lowering job. Otherwise you will find they scrape a little on the plastic inside guard on 3/4 to full steering lock, and they may also bottom out over large road undulations (speaking from experience).:)

It does sit higher, however my last car was lowered and was continually scraping on things, so no plans to lower at this stage.
I actually like the ride at the moment, not to hard and not to soft :)
