New Colour plates in NSW

Apparently there are new colour combo plates available in NSW from the 8th of April.

Gday mate,great looking plates but those scabs at the rta and the government keep on charging extra each year on top of your rego just to have the coloured plates, if it was only a one off payment it would be OK,so f--k them they get too much money from us anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm; old post you've dug up there...

Guess if you don't think it is worth it then don't bother getting one ;). Personally I'm happy with the plate already on my car, just the stardard one the dealership screwed to it... I'm not the biggest fan of the RTA or their charges either.

Look it it this way... Some people are prepared to pay the fees for custom plates, they must be, I see plenty around! The RTA is like any other buisness, the more money they make from stuff like custom plates the more money they can put into hiring more staff so you don't have to wait as long, or putting more money into inspecting dodgy-as trucks belting along the freeways or spending it on creating new roads and repairing old shit ones.

Funding from our Kevin and Nathan only goes so far... Trust me, I work for a govo't funded department (...and no, I'm not employed by the RTA).

paying a shit load of money to the rta all the time might be worth it if roads where fixed that actually need fixing and so on.. its a joke the amount of money we pay for nothing.. and i see time and time again roads that are perfectly fine being re done where as other roads filled with pot holes dont get touched..

Thats a fairly jaded statement you have made there...

NSW RTA is responsible for 17,800KM of roads in NSW, local councils are responsible for 143,600KM. Those people you voted for in you local elections are responsible for most of the roads you say need fixing. If you don't like what they are doing with public money, vote for someone else.

Building and maintaining roads isnt really a cheap venture... If you take a look at http://tr.im/wjMn you'll see that there's quite a lot of "millions" there ($391M for the M7 and $185M to widen the M5), sure the RTA doesn't pay for all of it but it has to make significant contributions.

If you're going to complain about major arterials like Parramatta road, fair enough... but I reckon you're the kinda guy that would complain about roadworks causing traffic delays, so I guess the RTA can't please anyone, anytime :p
