I am after advice on window tint product and place to get it done, excluding mitsu dealership ($300 plus just for the front door windows).

I have got a quote from a few auto window tinter and is about $130. Can't find a tint that colour wise matches the rear door privacy glass. it would be as dark as privacy glass to stay legal.

Problem may be the front window is light green in colour whereas privacy glass is purpleish grey. it is more apparent when holding a white paper behind both windows. front window still looks green even with a tint film on it.

Make sure you get the felt put in the front doors when you get it done! There is a thread on here about it (sorry to lazy to search for it).

Most Tint companies should be able to match the privacy glass but go dark as pimp tint:D it looks awesome.

Yupz, mine are already starting to scratch and theres nothing i can do about it lol. When times comes i'm going to get the same darkness but from an outside source. Mitsu gave me a 101 reasons why i cant have the private tint in the fronts etc etc lol.

Good luck with your tinting mate :)

Got mine done $100 (if i'm not wrong) for 2 front window & 2 front small triangle glass.

Honestly, don't expect the tinter to be able to match it. Its a "lucky" thing. They only carry so many different tyres/tint color film, so you have to be lucky to meet a tinter that so happen to have a matching film.

Therefore, go as dark as you can :D

Any Tint companies anyone can recommend in Melbourne?

I tried sussing it out from one guy, but he mentioned new colts/lancers scratching off the tint.

Anyone had much success with this problem?

i got factory mitsu tinting and for some reason have not had the scratching... i have seen it on some other rcolts, but i guess i got lucky... i also got the top of the line tint, so maybe that was the cause...

Just to let you know, anything that matches the eprivacy glass is illigal, and could posibally void insurance.

They obviously know that there is an issue with the tint scratching hence they must put a wedge in to prevent it !

I was offered factory tint and perhaps I should have accepted it. My right arm is now a lot darker than my left one from all the driving over the summer !

The back is privacy glass, the color of the the actual glass is dark.

Hmm will have to look up the tint protection guide...

As for privacy glass... its exactly that... coloured glass to 'protect' you from people seeing in the back of your car easliy... Does absolutely nothing for heat/UV.
