Hi All,
Been reading the stuff on this forum close to a month now. Complete newbie to cars but very interested in modding mine very soon.

This is the second time i recieved a Rcolt.com card on my colt driver side window. The first time was in Haymarket Chinatown area next to UTS and lastnite i recieved another one in cabramatta. I'm interested whom in the area left me with this card. Thanks very much. I have spotted a black Rcolt around the area. Would this be you?

Thanx buddy.. mines a 07 model..
had it for about little over 7 months... my treads are wearing thin on them need some new rubber already. Anyone got any good suggestions in the area? Just some average ones to the road.

Thanks man....
Been on this forum and just been tryin to obsorb everything there's so much to take in. But so far a mate of mine can get Trust Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller for cheap and i mite do that rather than remove the pill. Now my biggest dilimma is the exhaust turbo back. I have no clue, i know i want a silencer with a switch which i saw somewhere on the forum or mite have been a website. But i want from the turbo back and i'm not sure who to go see and how to go about this just yet. And does that include the dump pipe as well when i say turbo back? I don't want to have to go re-mod this so i want to get it done properly so then i can look at playing with intercooler and also a mate so headers which i only roughly have a clue about.

Well electronic boost cotrolers dont work on the AU colts, i dont think anyone in AU has one working

Turbo back includes the dump.

I wuld wait for RPW to finish there dump package and get that dump, then get the rest made up.

Tempe tyres for rubber, just know what you want before you go in, dont bother asking them anything besides how much and have you got stock in this size.

Pretty sure Jacky at R-Sense is selling the muffler you want in the vendor section, and yes thats my car in the pic

Thanks for that. Once i get the dump, do i then only need cat back with the silencer mufler that i want? I take note about that with Tempe Tyres. Thanks very much.

So no one has been able to get any boost controlling working on the AU Colt? Thats crap... Do we know whom's tried which boost controller so maybe if i do try i try another one that hasn't been tried before. Would you happen to know the reason why the boost controllers don't work?

Would you happen to know the reason why the boost controllers don't work?

ECU shits its pants, its very touchy!

you can use a manual boost controler, but pill removal is the same.

n1ggle5

Thats way crap then...
Issert because the ECU can't map the air fuel ratio to match the increase in boost that we dial in the boost controller.. or it just doesn't like a boost controller attached.

Hi there, maybe read these couple of threads, they might go some way to explaining why these things are so touchy re the colts ecu. Most guys haven't bothered fitting them (in Oz), and the ones that did have them fitted, before long they were removed again due to good ol limp home mode.!:)

I'm using a Turbosmart Boost Controller but you cant run more then the standard boost or a little higher before it shits itself. Its good and bad in a way. It protects your engine but also stops you from being able to push more out of it.

Goodluck with your mods :D

Had a look at the threads. Thank you so much for this mate, your a legend. I also spoke to some guy in Chester hill that said his modded a few of these cars and apparently when you overboost and the ecu detects it stays on for too long it cuts out. Spewing, i heard something about O2 sensors and having two of these makes it hard to get around or something..

are there possibilities of using a evo9 ecu or something like that? OR what happens when guys bridge the ECU, is that possible? I've just been hearing things and i don't really understand what it all means hence my questions..

But you guys are fantastic mate.

I just removed the pill on the weekend. Does that mean i be running the same boost (or similar) as yours with the boost controller before it craps itself?

Mate i've been looking at mods left right and centre, and there's so much to learn that i gota take my time with the mods haha.. or i end up modding something, taking it off for something better.. i just know it and it's gonna burn a hole in my pocket that way.

Your signature, are they all the mods you've got on your car? I notice you got a BOV, is that running smooth?

from wut i know there are 5 ways of boostin ur car.

yr solenoid
turbosmart manual B
pill removal
electronic boost controller
acrtuator mod

i personally use the yr solenoid and i spike to 1.22 bar and i have no problems with it, also the stock solenoid is still there so when u go get ur car serviced its simple, plug it into the stock solenoid. i gained 8kwatts @ wheel.

Turbosmart MB, alot of the members used it before. from wut i remember they could only boost to 0.9bar anymore will cause cell. therefore most ppl got rid of it.

EBC~

fuk it waste of money

Pill removing, ppl got 10Kwatt + @ wheel. dont know why but i find it dodgy but thats my opinion.

actuator mod?? NFI LOL = no fukin idea

oh btw dont get the turbosmart BOV, few ppl and myself had problems with the BOV rattling and the piston making click noises. GFB is much better ^^

Thanks mate... Gees so many to help this is awesome haha..
I just had a look at the GFB BOV, there's a good few in there.
Would I be using GFB Stealth FX Mitsibishi Evolution 9 cos thats pretty pricey. And BOV really only gives it the blow off sound to sound kewl right? Are there really any benefits? I've got a very mixed understanding about this.

I took my pill out i did feel that gains, and if it's 10kwatts plus i definitely need more hehe..

I have to get new rubbers soon too, thats pretty hard to find as well so i mite have to get new rims and rubber package from tempe tyres, they seem to have pretty good deals. I want to take my current ones off and leave that for next year winter when i take it to the tracks cos i found out the orginal rubbers are very good so i don't want to put them to waste on the road. It's been wearing thin and it's only be 7 or 8 months i had the tyres for. Switched them over already as well. Mitsubishi charged me like 20 bucks to switch them from front to back. If i had known they charged me i would ahve done it myself. Cos i thought when they do the service they have to take the wheels off to check the pads anyways.. dodgy dodgy. They told me they will call me when they get the clutch in stock so they will change mine cos it's got a screaching noise and it's now 2-3 months and they haven't called so when i filled the survey out they sent me. I marked service was CRAP and wrote down i won't be taking my car to the service centre anymore.

Anyone got any ideas which wheels package would look hot the a grey rcolt from tempe tyres? heheh looking for suggestions http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products.asp?index=17+Inch+Package%2DBlack%2CBlack +polished

Went to tyres for less and they pointed me the chromes and i said no straight away. I need something light if not the same weight as our current rims which is 9kg i think it is. Is that right or did i get wrong information?

I reckon the K-Speed Spec S or reverb would look cool (something in all black), then toss the poxy chrome centre cap for a real racer look! Remember we can only fit wheels with 4x114.3 stud pattern, as I wanted to fit the Lenso Light S-2, but they didn't suit unfortunately! What size r u after, same as current or larger diameter (17x7 the most common/suitable size, hence the cheapest package)?:)

Oh yeah, and maybe start up a new thread in Members rides where you can post Q's about your ride now that u have introduced yourself!;)

BOV's wont give extra power but it does hold the turbo boost much better, if you rev hard on 2nd gear then let go u can def feel the car holding the boost better. u should get the normal hybrid BOV, no need to fork out 500+ for a BOV. mine was $309 + $12 for the bigger adaptor (the recirculating bit) cause the one that comes wid it was a tad small. and obcourse it does sound hectic lol. in mind GFB also have a whistle trumpet that sounds like a waste gate or a SSQBOV for $40 but u need more that 1bar boost or sumfin which the pill removal covers for. btw i live in bankstown lol bankstown autobarn should have em michael there is pretty good.

Yah had no issues with my BOV. As long as its a Plumback then its fine. So you'll need to get a GFB Hybrid Dual port or a Turbosmart Dual port. The GFB is much louder then the turbosmart one. I compared it with Garys Colt. Hes got the turbosmart one. I did have a HKS SSQV but ECU caked it like shit lol. It sounded SOOO good but it was wasted. Never got to hear it under load as it caked it as soon as it vented so never got to hear it during 2nd or 3rd. I believe that you can run it (Sing guys and Jap ppl run em) so i'm still waiting to see if i should try agian lol.

As for mods mate all i can say is cause theres not much you can do for power just do looks and suspension. Start getting underbody braces and bars. A nice set of rims and a good set of coilvers or pedder springs.

Do the actuator + pill removed (run without a MBC or EBC) and your good for a easy 1.1bar and tbh thats more then enough power to make go with. Just follow matty's footsteps. FMIC + Actuator + Pill + Turboback = 134kw on wheel :D

Cheers for that. I actually checked the Lenso Light S-2 as well at the beginning but yeh they don't have the size. i'm actually really interested in the Lenso DC5 Charcoal Grey to go on my grey colt http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=&part_no=1176
Let me know what you guys think. I got a quote from Tempe Tyres and also Tyres for Less on Woodville Rd. They both quoted $1200 and the Tyres for less have Kumho tyres on them. Forgot to check what tempe tyres will put on them. But i know tempe tyres give lock nutts which i didn't check with the other because on tempe tyres site they quote this "Package Includes: 4 Brand New Lenso Wheels, 4 Brand New Tyres (Please Call to confirm brand and size as each car is different), wheel nuts, lock nuts, fitting and balance*. "

I create a new thread under members rides shortly. Getting a quote and some advise from Karam Racing which is just around the corner from where i live. Trying to find out how much is turbo back exhausts with silencer muffler.

got a question with the plumback. That air then goes back in instead of out to the environment. Does that also mean the woooshhh sound is gone as well since it's plumback? Or can you still hear it?

I'm thinking of turbo back exhaust, then after that i work on the braces that i've seen under the car. Not to keen on the ones inside the car, thats too much i reckon hehe. Coil overs and pedder springs going to be expensive so one step at a time. Also does the FMIC make a big difference to the car for this current turbo? And the actuator, how are you suppose to adjust that and what does it do?

If its a hybrid it will still vent BUT there is still a hole that goes back into the intake pipe. This stops the ECU from thinking that its a full atmo. I dunno why but yer lol its weird. Anyhow there is still a loud venting noise. If you want the loud whoosh get the GFB but if you want a more silent but still hearable whoosh get the turbosmart.

As for exhaust, get the RPW one. Its better then getting a custom one because RPW have at least put in hours of time into the R&D and when the down pipe, dump pipe etc are all done it will be a straight bolt on. That way you know your going to get something that really works :)
