OK, talked myself out of a dodgie $200 touchscreen dvd and thinking back to single din, or even double din cd/mp3...

The one feature I want more than anything is front usb... I download several gig of trance each week and get sick of burning to CD... So these Alpine units caught my eye... I don't really care if there's no disc facility, I could happily live with USB only...

Anyone had anything to do with these? Feedback? Alpine linkie... (http://www.alpine.com.au/products/index.asp?section=1) PS. I have alpines in the doors and will get an alpine sub and mono, so I'm obviously leaning to an alpine HU...

Hey fauxpas as long as your new cd player has AAC playback you will be fine ... headunits without aac playback don't really support IPODS!!!

Alpine CD units are always quality units.

My CD player has been going fine from 2004

Some of the top end units also have ipod direct link capabilites too.

That's what the above unit is... No CD drive, just usb and ipod...

Yeh, but the 9887 9886 9884 and 9882, are CD players AND also have Ipod control and USE connection.

Have a look under the CD players area too.

I checked these out on the weekend at JB HiFi and the only disappointing thing for me is no front usb... It's on a dongle out the rear...

i didn't mind that idea, as i was planning to have twin usb points mount in my glove box. I gives it a neat finished look.
