Hi All,
Just 2 questions on the ralliart colt. Have you guys had any problems with them since acquiring them? Im currently considering getting one as insurance is half the price of my current car, i own an S15. Is it a good car to drive?
Could you list how much u paid? which dealer? im trying to find a pic of one in white but can't seem to except the side view on the brochure. I noticed on one website it said sunroof was an option? But its not listed on the ralliart site?
Any info would be great.
Thanks Rukboy

Welcome Rukboy. Been a previous S14a owner, i think i can give you a pretty good idea what to expect from this car.
1) It will not be as powerful, but already pretty close to a stock S15's power feeling.
2) Suspension wise, i would say its' also quite close to a S15's stock suspension which is abit floaty at corners, but on straights its much better damped than the S15.
The cause for this, is because the rcolt simply don't have a rear sway bar, hence body roll. However, having said that, rcolt has the Active Stability Control + Traction Control System, which will aid you in corners. That's why you will feel floatiness on slow cornering and surprisingly stable on hard cornering. But then again, suspension is a very easy stuff to improve on. In theory, rcolt's suspension is much better than s15, but just lack of the needed sway bar for its tall body height.
3) Only bad thing about the rcolt that i found, is that all rcolt has a noisy gearbox (which should be the same for S15).
4) Insurance i'm getting, is around 1150 per year (over 25 with max NCB) and Chipokae on this forum, is just slight under 1000 per year (same over 25 with max NCB). I guess it depends where you garage your car, but the insurance range is 1000 - 1200.
5) I got mine at Northshore Mitsubishi for $30.5K driveaway. Chipokae got his at Parramatta for $30K driveaway. Bear in mind that these are the prices one can get during end of year or end of financial year where they are desparate to get rid of their stock and need some numbers in their account books.
6) For sunroof, its an option if you ask for it from the dealer. Unless you are getting it for free, i would advise not to get it. All it is, is they get a aftermarket installer to do it and charge you a certain percentage on top of what the installer charge. So, why let the dealer get your hard earnt money. If you really want sunroof, buy the car and get it do by yourself afterward. The installer will provide you with its own warranty anyway.
7) Pics of a white rcolt. I loved the white one. Didn't get it only because my missus don't like it. Here's a few:

Advertise your S15 on www.carsales.com.au. I sold my S14a there in 3 days time with the price i wanted. And don't post it on forums as you are only gonna get kids wasting your time. Newspaper......i doubt if its effective. Me, at least never looked at newspaper for any cars. No pics and just 2 sentence of description means nothing at all for potential buyers.
For S15, depends on your mileage/condition/mods, should at least get around 24 - 25K on average.

I had a s15, exhaust / coilovers / boostcontroler / air intake / swaybars / strust braces/ bushes and few other bits with 100,000kms for around $26k in very good condition inside and out but that was a year ago.

wow thats a very low km car u should be able to find that price, you might find it easier to sell without the mods however they are pretty mild mods anyhow. Best of luck!

Ist of all I paid $32800 thats with parts/materials and all servicing up to including 30,000 K service. Fabric, paint & Electronic rust protection, Colt floor matts a Cargo cover and a car whenever my car is in service and they pay for the insurance on the loan car as well.
Next is Insurance YUCK as I stated before on this forum I live in Bankstown area of Sydeny so work it out for yourselfs what I have to put up with in relation to car theft and a lot of peoples pathetic driving skills.
Some of the other members of this forum who are under 30 & who live in lower risk areas with same sort of driving records pay at a minium $600 a year less one pays $850 less than the $1800+ I have to falk out with a spot on record and 60%+ NCD protected.
I asked every major company and ended up with the NRMA as they might charge a bit more for their Insurance but if you want to get a CTP Greenslip through them you save around $280.
The cheapest other quote I got was from AAMI and Just Car who both came in at $1680 and then you have to add the $280 extra for your CTP an im over $1900 So it's a no win situation.
As for problems the only thing is that is the rear brake pads make a bit of running noise sometimes.
Fuel economy works out to be 8.27 to 9.02 Litres per 100km city cycle and 7.3 litres per 100km hwy cycle if I stick to 100kmph if I drive at 110kmph + mid 8s are the result.

Insurance one of my fav grypes, Lucky you at $980 if you lived in Bankstown or one of its surrounding areas in Sydney and you can expect to pay $1800 + and thats at 42 years young with 60% NCD, gararged and a perfect record. Thats with NRMA remembering you get $350 of your CTP greenslip so that brings it down to around the $1500 mark as a comparision rate.
CGU wanted $1971 in this are so you can see where you live makes a big differance.
