View Full Version : Rcolt prices around OZ

Just thought it would be interesting to check out how many rcolts were for sale around OZ at present, and at what price, colour, state, kms. The prices seemed really inconsistent, with some very hopeful car yards out there., and don't blame me for the "08" model rcolt tags, that's what they are listed as, but are probably really 07 models.;)

coro, mine doesnt have 12,000kms...
However I will have a grey with under 100kms for $26,490 Drive away.
Why so expensive? It will have both suspension and power upgrade from TMR and that will be my very last R-colt I will have till the new model arrives. :o
Maybe I should register this one as my demo! :D

I have just discovered that my new friend locally has traded in his white RCOLT. It is advertised with 900kms on clock. He only picked it up about 6weeks ago. Traded from a Holden Crewman SS to the Colt. Has lowered suspension and new exhaust system, details I'm not sure of but talked to him day it was going in for the work. Has $22,990 on window. Checked for any obvious reasons to sell and none evident. I will be trying to find the time to track him and find out why traded it. Did spot a Modded Lancer outside his house so maybe maybe.....
Mystery Solved!!!!
I Talked to the lad and his missus, She got freaked out when out driving the RCOLT, Turbo kicked in and she got freaked. She wouldn't go near the car again. He was pretty hesitant to trade car but it was her or the car and she won. They are now back in a medium car. Which means there is now sitting at Yamanto a White RCOLT with some kickass mods already done with only 900kms on clock. I trying to convince the boss to let me trade my stock for the RCOLT but my chance are slim I think.

Built 07' ???
You must have the only one in the world, as MMAL didnt bring any R-colts into the country last year. There are two plates on every car, both with the VIN number on them. One is a build plate, the other an Australian Compliance plate.
I'd suggest you have an 07' complianced car, hell, I have an 08' complianced R-colt here, but the build plate still says 06'

WTF? 2 x cars listed at 30+k? Second hand listed at 20+k?
Are these finally getting enough street cred to become slightly popular at the same time their numbers of the recaro clad 06 plated, 08 complied are dwindling?

The ever-rising cost of fuel can only help support RColt values. Having said that, more and more competitors in the 'small hot hatch' sector will inevitably arrive. Also, the talk about further reductions in import tariffs and the continuing strength of the aussie dollar should mean imported cars (including hot hatches) will get cheaper.

The old rule of supply and demand. ;)
Your dead right about Supply and demand we have to remember that in May 07 there were still 260 to 280 new 2006 Rcolts sitting in a paddock somewhere and word was they were not going to import anymore until they/Mitz had sold all or moved all 06 Rcolts through as exective drive cars or demo's.
Given this Mitz was going to only import a very limited number of New Rcolts when the 06 build were sold out as it cost them a fortune having 200+ Rcolts sitting around. It was even suggested in early 2007 that any new Ralliart Colts would be brought in to order.
So if you have an true 2008 or later build count yourself as lucky as the word on the street was if sales did not improve Rcolts may not be brought in at all.

I'll call them Monday anyways, I wouldn't be paying ORC(except DD) as I'd be getting it freighted up to Darwin and have to register/transfer(stamp duty) it myself. Will put a deposit down over the phone tomorrow if they still have a gunmetal grey one.

Im assuming it was the same one. They had 2 there (Grey & Silver) the silver was on a display on the steps out front and the grey one was out back. The grey one wasn't registered and had a demo plate on it. They told me then that "i'd better hurry up and put a deposit down as there was alot of interest at the reduced price" and "these were the last 2 they were getting for a bit". Thats why i assumed its the same one. If it is, get them to drop it to $20500. Did they tell you it had 0 Kms on the clock?

That is correct. Usually be under 10-20km on the clock for all brand new cars.
Thing is, they will have to drive the car up to the ship and down when arrived. From the parking spot at harbour up onto the truck till offloaded at dealers where someone will drive it and store at their warehouse. Sometimes (especially if the car's kept in warehouse for 2 years), they will get the car detailed at a local detailers before the final delivery.
If a dealer's selling you a 0 km mileage car, i will have doubt on it.

+ dont think that the car ever gets a gently ride off the boat. My mate who works on the docks in sydney under the glebe bridge said he work mates and himself would floor it down the 2km straight and park the cars.
And yes he did drive the 1st Aus delivered Rcolts, hence why i got one cause he vouched for it. So when the dealer tells you to drive it under 3,000rpm its a load of crap cause its been thrashed already :P BUT not saying its shouldnt be. I'm just stating that 90% of all new cars are not really that new :(

Make sure you take another rcolter out to make sure its up to speed. I tested a gunmetal grey from booths gosford and it was slow... At the time I thought all rcolts were slugs, till I drove the black one I ended up buying...
The GG one had not been pre-delivered, so that could explain its slowness...

You did good... After bottoming at 20,500 the prices firmed a bit as stocks get to bottom. Also, the salesmen I spoke to at booths were idiots. I'll let you know how stupid they were after at a meet, as I don't want to repeat myself here from other posts...
