Hey All,
I thought I would pop a quick post up here... I bought a Scangauge today from a place in Hornsby called Wooders Garage and I thought I would give them a quick plug...
If any of you guys were interested in getting one I would pop in there or give them a call. They are selling them for $190.00 (not bad seeing as they are USD $169.95 + Postage from the USA) The blokes the served me were pretty helpful and enthusiastic about the product and they seemed to have a pretty good stock on hand.
I know Steve-B is a fan of his Scangauge and I was looking round for one on his recommendation.

ah, that is a pretty awesome price for the scangauge 2, and in my hood as well. Guys these are a great tool for keeping an eye on all the engine is doing and removing the cel lights as well.
If anyone wants one, i will find out where in hornsby they are and am willing to buy and ship for people @ no charge to myself. Just for the greater good.

To save steve b time, and others postage costs, I have seen scanguages for the same price with FREE shipping on eBay, I also think its the same place.

Steve,
They are just down in the Hornsby industrial estate... 29 Leighton Place.
I'd get one from Wooders rather than E-bay (if it isn't the same bloke), he was helpful and if something goes wrong or you are not happy with it you've got a place to go to, not some ones email address. I've bought plenty of things from E-bay but if there is someone local running a shop I can go to I'd rather go there.

I too have a scangauge, but have found this unit called DashDyno on ebay, which surpasses the scangauge in every aspect! It can be used with a GPS reciever to provide performance info(datalogging) on google earth maps. Better to read the link versus me blabbing!:)

Just an update for those who own scangauges, there are a couple of new "Xgauges" on their website for kilowatt output and boost. Just download the new codes and wack them in as per the update instructions.
The result - dammit, the boost setting does not work, but the Kilowatts gauge works fine. So now you should have both HP and kw if you had downloaded the original horsepower scangauge.
There is also a download for faulty RPM signals but mine seems to work fine.:)
the Kilowatts gauge works fine.
So, what did you get?? :D
could you postt the xgauge code for the kw gauge for those of us who cant seem to find it?

Do I need to download any actual files for the update? Or do I just key in the codes as per the instructions from the link the MILO posted up?
Cos' the first step:
To start, from the HOME screen use MORE>MORE>MORE>XGAUGE
I already could not find the "XGAUGE" part, only a "COMMANDS" and then I can select which memory slot to use. Is that the same?

Sorry about the late reply, here's some info to make it easier - includes add on gauges to include trip computer fuel consumption & instaneous power measurement in Kilowatts.:)
Note: the web site listed at the bottom ofthe page is more up-to-date than the one listed by MILO.
TRIP COMPUTER FUEL CONSUMPTION X-GAUGE SETUP
Assuming you have set up your ScanGauge to display km and litres, the
fuel consumption for the X-Gauges below will be shown in litres per hundred
kilometres. (L/100 km)
• Start from the HOME screen, press MORE>MORE>MORE>XGAUGE
• Then in the top right, select the number of the X-Gauge memory you want
to use (0 to 24)
• Next select <EDIT , this will take you to the TXD screen
• Use the + and - buttons to enter each character at the underscore position,
the º button at the top right will move to the next character space.
• To display consumption for the current trip Enter 00 into the TXD screen
and press OK> or,
To display consumption for all of todays trip Enter 01 into the TXD screen
and press OK> or,
To display consumption for the previous days trip Enter 02 into the TXD
screen and press OK> or,
To display consumption for current tank of fuel Enter 04 into the TXD

• Enter a suitable name in the NAME screen and when you are finished
press OK>
Eg: L/100 km per: Current Trip = LPC, Todays trip = LPD, Previous
days trip = LPP, Tank = LPT
• Lastly press SAVE.
Now you can select your new gauge just like any other one. From the home
screen, press GAUGE, press the button next to the gauge you want to use
for the X-Gauge. Keep pressing as needed until your newly created
X-Gauge name appears.
KILOWATTS X-GAUGE SETUP

I haven't actually looked to see what kw's I'm pulling on the move yet, sits on about 3.6kw at idle. Maybe email the scangauge guys to see if there is a fix for it, I'll see what mine does on the way home, and I'll post something if I have any bizzare power numbers.:)

Nice hideaway spot, but I think I'd crash if I had to look up there all of the time.:p
My carbon fibre install is only semi-permanent, the panel is held on via the use of velcro tabs so it an be easliy removed and thus avoid butchering parts of the dash.
You could always velcro it right in line of your vision for the dash as it has a pretty low profile, and run the cable back under the steering column to the OBD port.

Ahh I think I know why. The version of my Scanguage is 3.01, where is the required version to run XGuage is 3.14 or 3.15. have to upgrade the software now, damnit!

For the guys who do have the sunnies holder, is that the same one, cause it looks like there are two holders there.
And what are those buttons near the interior lights? sunroof?
My VRX only has one sunnies pocket, and no buttons... Could be wrong for the Rcolt though?
Just curious! :D

It would have to be from some other mitsubishi model. But from the shape, it looks like it can be inter-used by rcolt.

Tried out the kw xgauge last night and got 113kw exactly at god knows what rpm, and that wasn't even revving it out to the colt's peak power output, maybe next time!;)
Here's some other installs for those who want some inspiration. The steering column is probably the best place to view the gauge, but not always the most practical.

Horsepower was one of the first generic x-gauges that you could add to your scangauge (see under the X-gauge commands list), the new ones are listed on the following link (so you can have both).

Yeah, its got a bit of lag time between readings, not sure how to fix that.

Well my scanguage started playing up the last 2 days
the light on it was flicking on and off :S
So i pulled it apart
Found some dry soler joins on it
Basically when you pull it apart, there is a flat ribbon cable going to the screen for data.
and there is also a black pin and socket thing much like a computer, that bacl 4 pin block where it solderes to the PCB has 2 dry joints on it, viable with the eye. Resoldered and look all good now. :)
So thats how to fix it if anyone else has trouble.
You shouldnt need to pull all the screen off, although I did to inspect it all.
