This thread is for people who live outside Melbourne who would like to get the TMR mods, whether it's the Power Upgrade or Lowered Suspension or Both.

Guys from Melb can call Alan @ TMR direct on 03-9895-3668 to make a booking. He's in Dandenong and both mods take 3-4hrs to fit and realign suspension.

Costs are:
TMR Power upgrade: $550 incl GST
This is a boost upgrade yielding 10awkw and 25awNm. You will need to use 98+ Octane fuel for this upgrade to feel the power increase. There will be no issues if you don't as the ECU senses octane rating and retards ignition if you're in a place where you can't get 98 Octane. Below is the dyno graph:
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7797/raliartgraph1mr0.th.jpg (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=raliartgraph1mr0.jpg)

Here is my own dyno run after the TMR upgrade: Using 4th gear with 15 degree celsious ambient temperature, it's made 105KW (141Hp) at wheels.
http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/5708/dynoafrfl5.th.jpg (http://img292.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dynoafrfl5.jpg)

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/2530/dynokwlg7.th.jpg (http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dynokwlg7.jpg)

TMR Lowered Springs: $534.60 excl GST + $250 to fit (chassis will be corner waited, balanced to TMR specs).
These springs lowers the car 4cm and reduce sway more as they are stiffer without being harsh. If you have driven an EVO before you will feel the similarity. See below images:

Both mods will not effect your original Mitsubishi Warranty.

I will try to ask Alan to give RColt forum members a discount. No promises here.

Please don't ask any questions on this thread. Please ask questions in the below thread:
http://rcolt.com/showthread.php?t=1536

Please put details as follows:

e.g. Melbourne- Eatevo- Power & Suspension
or Melbourne- Eatevo- Suspension only

Reply to this post and add your details if you are interested. Remember that we need to have 6 people for this to go ahead in your state capital.

If I'm missing something on here please PM me. I'm doing this on my own time to help those in other states who are interested in TMR mods and can't get access to this product. I get nothing out of this except enjoying the car with all you enthusiasts.

Seems like the Adelaide guys are itching to get this mod.

I will bring this list of 6 people from Adelaide to Alan @ TMR tomorrow morning when I bring my car in for both power and suspension upgrade. Springs were late but know have arrived!

Adelaide people, could you please vote on a day i.e. Friday, Saturday etc.. that best suits you all. I presume you all have at least $100-$200 each to deposit so Alan can start to arrange a technician to go over. Please call Alan on 03-9895-3668 and tell him your nickname from this site. He will orgarnize the payment with you. Once you guys have decided on a day, he will plan a date. All the Adelaide people only want the power upgrade, but if you want the lowered springs too, please post that you want it and the technician can carry it over with him.

Cheers,
Michael aka Eatevo

Just dropped my car off at TMR this morning. Alan was kind enough to drop me back home. Here is a few pics of the more updated TMR upgrade special. There is the Ralliart rear wing, Ralliart Front Air dam, Ralliart Muffler, bonnet vent garnish and TMR spec stickers.

TMR will be testing the Ralliart Muffler to see the benefits through dyno testing. Their website will be updated very shortly with what is available and costs for the RColt. Everything is still under manufacturer's warranty and is complied with ADR.

Oh the rear wing is soooo tempting:rolleyes:

Can't wait to get car back in the arvo.

With that rear wing, does it bolt into the connection points of the stanard lil spoiler?

I.e. will it bolt straight on or is there a need to seal holes and re-paint before attaching?

So that every one is aware. You will need to run 98+ octane fuel to feel the difference for the power upgrade. There is no problem if you don't as the ECU senses octane rating and retards ignition if you're in a place that can't get 98 Octane. 1st post updated.

Coro I'm easy, we (as in, Adelaide people) need now just to set a date. I have cash waiting right now, so we decide the better. I can have the car any place, any day or time. I've got a friend that works @ MMAL who I'm sure will have no problems helping me out, I was just informed I will be on exercise to darwin for the month of July but that doesn't really matter.. just means the car will be sitting in my garage for that month not accrewing any KMs. There's some cold hard cash cash cash for me in that trip :)

To reiterate, any date is fine for me. Preferably sooner rather than later :)

I did some reading on the net... some people talked about adjusting ride heights at each corner, some about adding weights & others about placing spacers under the springs. So I was wanting to know what TMR did to your RColt in regards to corner balancing?

I posted in the main TMR thread -http://rcolt.com/showthread.php?t=1536&page=19

Hey can someone point me out to the bit that says warranty is not affected and guaranteed by TMR/MMAL ?

I mean has MMAL / Ralliart responded by way of a letter to say these modifications are not going to void warranty or is it a TMR warranty ?

EDIT:

Just spoke to Alan - what a nice bloke. He advised that no such warranty is given (as in a paper warranty) saying the modifications will be covered. He did say however that the mods are easily within specifications of the car and that it is unlikely that anything can go wrong with the car with those mods. So .. it is not a 100% guarantee as everyone thinks but I think I am still going to take the plunge !!

Unless you've owned an Euro that's been back to the dealer more times that I can count on all my fingers, you do not understand the true value of a 'warranty' lol !

fauxpas
11-07-2008, 06:22 PM
I've also had some cars with warranty issues and been sternly warned about mods... As McCoy or whoever said, it'll be up to the service guy hearing your complaint to whether they knock back warranty or not because of whatever mods ya may have, and the arguments will start there...

But there's definitely 2 camps among car owners... those who value warranty and those who don't give a flying (you know what)... I value it for 2 reasons. The way I drive my car, it will likely need some work after years... And the fact that MMAL has great long warranty. Why would I blow one of the car's best features...?

But back on topic... Id Adelaide the only city out of Victoria to have completed a TMR upgrade day?

why_bother
11-07-2008, 06:34 PM
Eyerolling reply yes.. but I had a $750,000 sales budget in a previous sales position and am pretty sure I do understand the word but I know where you're going with that. All I was saying was that it's not some crazy big bullshit massive siq turbro upgrade that'll destroy your engine.

But seriously, if engine management doesn't have an issue with the modification,

i.e it's within the pre-set tolerances specified by the engineers that design the drive train that are goverend by the ECU. . . and there are no known adverse affects caused by this modification . . . then why worry?

I really wouldn't look too far into it at all, TMR do quality work and I gaurantee (for whatever thats worth) they would not put their name on something if it could have detrimental effects to the vehicle. All involved with them thus far would probably back that up 200%.

Irrespective of the measures taken at quality control gates all manufacturers have lemons mate, that's just the way mass produced & globally marketed motor vehicles are. Unlucky with the previous car, but you've done the right thing by the sounds of it and gotten rid of it.

Failing that, just don't get it :)

Fauxpas: not sure mate, I haven't been watching the other states' activites re: TMR upgrades.

I sincerely hope that people aren't deterred by this, it's seriously not a big deal.

Aftermarket ECU yes, minor tweak to a solenoid though? ..

This warranty topic has been half baked, over cooked, pre warmed & hard boiled over and over again. Like fauxpas said, it's either twinkle toe around the manufacturer, or mod the car. What's next, a thread about whether we should replace the brake pads with the ones that came on it in fear of voiding the warranty? un bloody likely.

SA seems to be the only state that has managed to get its act together for the TMR upgrade!

If only people would make up their damned minds on committing to these upgrades! (Not to mention the frustrated guys who go out of their way to try and organise things).

I for one am eager to see more gear come out of TMR for the colt, and manage to retain my factory warranty at the same time.

Perth Boys - Listen Up!

Perth & Brissy were considered long haul and minimum upgrades were set at 8, to my knowledge, to make it worth it for them.

Peter West, the manager overseeing the Sydney upgrades said that the team will be out for Targa West, so they'll already be there, so whoever in Perth is heading up the rcolters in Perth, you may (insert disclaimer here) be able to get an upgrade day for fewer than 8, maybe even fewer than 6???

You need to ring Alan or Peter to slot in a half day... Sydney's 6 x power and 1 x suspension was done under 5 hrs.

When I last spoke to Alan, towards the end of June, he was still saying 6 upgrades would get someone up to Brisbane. We don't even have that however. If we can get six guys to commit, we can ask Alan if we could each add a little "danger pay" to cover the costs associated with a trip to Brisbane.

Peter said for Adelaide, they were already there. That's why he said they'll be in Perth for Targa west so if the westies had problems with numbers, grabbing them while in the state made more sense.

For us, they flew 3 people (Peter the manager and 2 young mechanics) and 1 x hirecar... + All their wages for a Saturday... + hire of the workshop...

Soon starts to add up...

thanks faux, I did initially suggest this to Alan but he seemed to think they wouldnt have time.

in any case I am no longer interested in the upgrade so someone else will have to take the lead. seems like this Peter fellow might be the guy to speek to.

yeah i felt like i was getting stonewalled by TMR too... it was strange, like they really didn't actually want to come out to Perth at all, which is why they want 8 or so... probably not what was happening and not trying to bad mouth TMR, just my impression, which is often wrong! ;)

You can't blame Alan for not taking us very seriously. How many false-starts have we had? How many of us have called him for information about the upgrades? Personally, I spoke to him, told him we were pretty much ready to go in Brisbane, and then couldn't get a single person on the Brisbane list to respond over a two week span.

Getting six people to commit to the upgrades and pay the deposit isn't a big deal. As a group we're totally disorganised and unreliable.

Wow.. nice call, sounds like you're the only person thus far who has said what I (or a few of us I suspect) was thinking. I would have posted something similar, but in a desperate attempt to curb flaming on this forum I didn't. How many testimonials are needed about this mod for people to take it seriously?

Don't dick TMR or Alan around, they wouldn't do it to you.

yeah i felt like i was getting stonewalled by TMR too... it was strange, like they really didn't actually want to come out to Perth at all...

According to Peter, its simply a distance thing. Sydney was a day turnaround... Perth is a different matter... But that's why he suggested if they were out there already, if someone was passionate enough to organise a day in conjunction with TMR, it might happen...

Don't feel stonewalled, they were out of the office not answering phones for weeks while doing the Evo X thing. Peter was talking all about it. Now its Targa West, so they'll be busy again...

So if you guys are really persistent, maybe it'll happen... Anyhow, what's the worst thing that could happen? Nothing...

I asked Peter directly if the other states were going to happen or if they'd reassessed the interstate upgrade days. He said they haven't considered axing interstate upgrade days, they've only reassessed the minimum numbers due to distance...

Guys go on holdiay and stop fartarsing around. It's not fair to keep harrassing the local TMR team with stupid questions from 2000km away

I have had a gut full of this, So far only myself and one other has committed to getting this TMR upgrade done in Brisbane. Its sad that we can't get anyone else to do it in Brisbane, and for that reason I am going to pull out of getting this mod done, That means i will require my deposit back from TMR. Its hard to beleave that so many people in Brisbane said they wanted to get it done and when it came time to put your money where your mouth is, know one could step up to the plate. Thanks to FLIPPER for at least trying to get people in, its just a shame that we can't get it done. It looks like my $200 deposit will be put towards a exhaust. FLIPPER do you have any idea on how to get my deposit back?

Thanks for the advice Filo, I was just putting it out there to see if there was any interest. Since I already have the YR Advance solenoid on order from lovecolt I'll just put that on my car and consider king springs or coilovers as a later upgrade as you have suggested. Cheers mate.

Ksport coilovers for Rcolt $1097 delivered wont find a cheaper set (even cheaper then the ralliart suspension)
http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=284227

but yeh ralliart suspension will be the best but $$$

Well HKS is probs better than the ralliart stuff, at least its adjustable. Everything with the ralliart sticker on it is over priced anyway.

But yeah, as everyone else said, i wouldnt even bother with the TMR upgrades anymore. So many better options and at least then you know what you have done unlike the secretive TMR upgrade.

Is it possible to get those TMR springs from someone in QLD tmr_colt? If so I'd still be interested in the springs, as I don't really want to drop the colt as low as the King springs go, and I'm not terribly keen to spend the extra for coilovers.
