Hey Guys,
I'm not sure if this has been covered before, I can't find a thread anywhere...
I'm getting a mechanical clunk sound coming from the front of the car when I first hit about 15km/h. It doesn't happen taking off from lights or anything, just the first time i hit that speed after starting up.
I'm hoping it has something to do with the automatic side mirrors, but it seems a bit loud and happens regardless of if they're in or out.
Just wondering if it's normal...

Thanks in advance :)

Had the same thing on my car since day 1. Does the sound actually sounded like coming from underneath of your front. I suspect its a gearbox thing....not really sure what it is.

Yeah - sounds like it comes from under there somewhere, possibly to the drivers side.
At least it's good to know I'm not alone :D

Just in first.
I'm not so sure about second gear, usually I'm in first at about 15km but I'll give second a go this arvo.

i have the same problem its only when you first start up the car and take off i took it to the dealers when i first had my 1500km service they looked at it and said its the clutch or something, they said the new lancers 08 do them too and the normal colt they said its nothing to worry about if it does become a problem or get worse they will look into and fix it if it needs to..

Thanks bor3dboi, I'll ask that they check that it's OK at the next service. :)

yeah just make sure you bring it up the next service and tell us what they say about it will be interesting to see if they do say the same thing, but does every other Rcolt do the same thing???

is it the abs, traction or stability control testing itself?

hmmm.. it may be the traction control engaging/disengaging...

Could be a failsafe speed thing for the airbags... eg, solenoid won't arm till speed reaches 15k etc?

My car made a cluck soon after taking off from the rear, but I realised it was the drum brake hand brake shoes popping in... It also creaks if you move the car while stationary... But if your is at the front and only at 15kph and only in 1st and only once each trip... then I have nfi

I always get that noise just after start up as I am driving away, it should be the ABS brakes doing a self-test. This should only happen only after the initial start-up, and not during day-to-day driving.:)
