There's been some interest in cruises out of Sydney/Central Coast.

For the benefit of Sydney siders, we have tweaked this cruise to start in Sydney (Asquith) and end there after Galston Gorge.

Meet at BP Servo Asquith @ 8pm to sortie @ 9pm.

You'll need a full tank of gas and 3 hours.

GPS such as TomTom & Navman are recommended. UHF equipment to 462.6250MHz.

This is open to all vehicles and if there are enough rcolters we can do some 'rcolt only' cruises too.

Some info about our runs. We do not do mega-speed. Any mug can lose their license or burn in a tree. We drive hard when the roads get bendy. We have several radios and one of us at the rear will ensure no one gets lost. If you feel you can't keep up the pace, that's fine. We'll always regroup.

I'm sure I've left some info out. My mates and I will be doing this run this weekend to check timing so we can post rest spots and pickup/drop-off points. Theoretically, we'll post times at Peats Ridge and Wisemans and people can join/leave at those points during a 15min rest.

Here is a tiny pic of the cruise. The fullsize pic should be grabbed here. (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=eokm4pyhbdh&thumb=4)

Leave Asquith 9pm.
Travel up Old Pac to washed out section near reptile park.
Double back to Peats Ridge.
Left at Central Mangrove all the way to Wisemans Ferry.
Down Old Northern Rd.
Left to Galston and back to Asquith round Midnight!

My friends and I will be doing it this Saturday night to time it and pick good rest/chat spots.

We usually go out every couple of weeks or even weekly if there's enough interest.

Regarding this Saturday night, anyone can come out with us... :D

I'm guessing round midnight. I'm going out with the mates this weekend specifically to find these things out. You guys can wait till we know times for sure if ya like cause we'll be going out regardless.

If there's enough interest later, we can make this a regular monthly cruise.:D

Time to invest in a 2way radio now :/

Remember it has to operate on 462.6250MHz :D

We buy Midland GXT700 portable radios from USA. Full 5watt for $60 AUD delivered and they run on 4 x AA (not supplied). Channel 18 of 20 on those radios operates at the above frequency and we never get cross chatter interference. I'm not even sure if Aussie radio equipment caters for this frequency. But $60 for a pair of 5watt radios is a joke... Don't worry about the 26 mile bs, that's absolute line-of-sight... But these will do the job. Should actually test their range this weekend... Here... Sadly, most of my mates have pulled out of this sighting cruise (prefer to get drunk, no money etc etc). So I suggest no one come out tonight due to low numbers.

After I do the loop, I'll have a more accurate timed loop to post and hopefully make a regular run...

OK, did the run tonight with a mate who's considering an rcolt... After the run he's considering it even more...

From Asquith to Central Mangrove was 50min. That means a 10min break and chat. Then 45min from Central Mangrove to Wisemans leaving a chat break there. Then about 45min back to Asquith via Galston Gorge...

I'll start a new thread called "Great Northern Run" with more accurate times.

Also, will make meeting point the McDonald's Asquith as their carpark is much bigger...
