OK, had another drive of an rcolt. This time from Blacktown and not Gosford. The difference between the car I first drove and the Sydney car was ridiculous. I only had to run her through the gears once to know it was more like the vehicle I was expecting.

I personally like the 0-100 being aided by not having to shift into 3rd before hitting 100. I have to learn to shift early in first if I was to drive sedately. I kept just nipping into the power band before changing to 2nd and it was a bit jerky.

Had the car out for a little over an hour and it was faultless. Drives normal when toting round town and when pushed really picked up the pace. I brought my gf this time and she was against me getting rid of my luxo-barge but was quite impressed. She was quite won over by the baby evo...

I sincerely apologize if I offended anyone with my previous reference to 'slug'. The rcolt I drove at Gosford was like it was running on 3 cylinders or something, a completely different car...

again everyone told you to drive it again. Everyone told you that 1 test drive isnt enough. Anyhow now you understand where we are coming from.

Enjoy the rcolt whether or not u choose to get one.

Should be picking up a Black one on Thursday before Good Friday.

I'm a bit perplexed with the tint on the back half of the car only? (Privacy glass?) I'll drive it a bit and eventually get the front 2 windows done too. Does anyone bother getting the tiny triangle windows done too?

Also, turbo timers. Are the even necessary in the 21st century and would one void warranty?

And the lights. Are they H4 and H7 globes?

Cheers

Wouldn't surprise... It did feel that different.

One other thing I noticed, the one I drove today had a nice performance hum/pur from the exhaust... The slow one didn't... I'm convinced there was something not right with it...

I'm glad your second test drive went good, turbo timers are unnecessary, as they are illegal, and really just for show, if not pushing the colt really hard! The colt comes with an oil cooler anyway (uses the coolant to cool the oil at the filter housing), so that should help!

RE the tinting, the back windows are tinted dark from the factory as it is legal to have the rear windows in that shade, you will probably find you cannot go to dark on the front windows for that very reason. Also aftermarket tinting is prone to scratching from the interior of the front doors -do a search, and you will find plenty of threads on that issue - and some remedies!

Not sure about the globes, Macca will probably know that one!:)

congrats mate glad to hear it went well!

now u know what we're all on about :p lol

but yeah with the tinting - its a matter of personal taste whether u get the triangle windows tinted (i would) but the fronts will def get scratchs - unless u do something to prevent it - do a search and check out some of the existent threads

Don't apologize mate, it's good to see somebody actually saying what they think & not sugar coat it. Ten times more impressive is that you can actually admit you thought you were wrong too.

I'm not saying you were wrong in the first place because everybody is entitled to their opinion whether you agree with it or not but it's humbling to know that there are people out there who can stick their hand up and say 'yeah, my bad'.

I like people like that. There's a blue one at australian motors in SA if you want something different, saw it last night after the monster trucks were on.

Thought so... I know some who buy these toys and justify their existence...

Is there a legal tint differnce between rears and front? lol, never knew that... I'll see how legall dark I can go...

Is it just the colt's window design that will scratch the tint?

I have a spare set of H1 X-Tec 4000K+ H1's 100W bulbs if you want em. Brand new in the packet express posted to your place for $25.

They're for the high beams, but f*&ked if I can tell you how to replace the low beams without cutting the shit out of your hands.

Sorry about the shitty photo, camera phone.

My front/the small triangle's tinted up. It will only look as weird as just having the dark rear privacy window, if you miss out the triangle bit. But yes, there's a scratching problem with tinting. Although there's some remedy out there now, but seeing mine's already servely scratched....i can't bother to retint it :p

And yes, the globe size is H7 for our normal headlight.

I had this problem with my luxo-barge a couple of months ago. I had to remove the battery and airbox... Oh joy!

Sorry about the shitty photo, camera phone.

I'll see what the originals are like and what I have in the garage spare. I remember going nuts on globes last year. If I need em I'll let ya know. Thanks.

In my luxo-barge, I always kept the windows up preferring climate air on recirculate. This kept windows and interior very easy to keep clean. I did half an hour on the 2nd test drive with airco on full boar as it was a 30+ day in Sydney. I was still impressed and only noticed a slight change when airco was off. I'll likely have the windows up all the time and airco on all the time until its time to boogie... My windows won't get anywhere near the up/down action the average car will... But if there's a particular tint to get to prevent scratches or a treatment for it, I'll definitely have a look... As long as its not like 10x normal price

I believe tint-a-car sell midnight express which is the darkest legal tint you car put on your front windows - not sure of the prices. At least it should help the air-con operate more efficiently.

In NSW you are allowed tinting that has 35% visible light transmission on all windows bar the front window. In SA you are only allowed 70% VLT on the front passenger windows, and 35% on the rears!

I think the lining on the inside of the doors scratches the tint, and it can only be noticed from the inside of the car. Some guys have fitted felt linings to the inside if the door to prevent this!:)

i got midnight express on my front windows including the front triangles and yes Colt does have tinting problem but they have found their way around it already so it wont scratch.. look at my display picture its got midnight express on..

Turbo timers are only illegal to be left on if you walk away from the car...incase the car accidently moves for some reason...personally i think its useful as you should allow the oil to cool in a turbocar befoer you turn it off generally i think the consensus is 30secs minimum unless you've been on either a long drive or hard drive and the timer will calculate how long it should be run on idle to cooldown.

i dont see the point, you may as well just sit there and let the car idle if you have to wait anyway.
IMO its not worth the money and the time to install one.
Ive had one on previous cars and based on hard driving the longest it ever really had count down was around 1.5 mins, and thats on a hot day.

if you drive normally for the last 5 mins of your trip you wouldnt really have to even wait to shut down, but just out of nature i run idle for 20 secs before i shut down.

i'm not getting a turbo timer...

lets just say you've been driving nice and hard... turbo timer starts counting down for 5 min, you jump out of the car, lock it, walk away. someone breaks in b4 the 5 min expires and drives your colt away. :(

all they need to do is keep hitting the button to keep the turbo timer on and the engine running!!!

bye bye colt

Just gunna sticker up ma rcolt till my birthday in Sept...

I will do a rear seat removal immediately and do the stereo when I work out how I want the rear to function... but no go-faster mods...

That's why I wanted it half quick when stock... so I wouldn't feel the need to throw warranty killing dollars at it...

Yes, this would be the case. But, so many cars look good in White especially White w/ carbon fibre trims. I believe most ppl who bought evo x opted for white.

nar.. its with traditionally, chinese believe different ppl would have different colour to suit them. and have certain colour is not good for them. sort of related to the catagorise ppl in 5 groups, gold - wood - water - fire - soil. i dun know much about it... just family point out something she couldnt have, and to make them feel better.. she listen to it.
