I put an order in for one...will let you all know what its like when I get it
I just like that it has the boost control and gauge all in one unit, less messing around and I can hide it some where out of sight so that my car still looks un touched haha

anyway will post a review when I get it and install it

night all

I don't know if you noticed but the guage looks like it max's out at 0.6 bar...

I sent the seller a question to check
not going to get much love from 0.6 am I ? LOL

Well it won't affect how the boost controller works, it will just render the gauge useless as even our standard boost is significantly higher than 0.6bar.

just set the manual boost controller to 0.6 bar and tell all your friends you're 'max boosting it' :)

lol sounds like a plan, I wonder if its just a simple mechanical pressure gauge if I can just get one that reads higher and attach it in the same place ? I cant see why not ?

Boost/Vacuum/Pressure gauges generally work with the help of a little copper tube called a 'bourdon tube'.

Think of a party blower that starts off curled up, then when you blow in it, it will straighten out. That's the basic idea of the bourdon tube. Attached to that tube are usually a measuring element and a magnifying element (and a couple of cogs/gears). The tube is a 'C' shape to begin with, and as pressure increases inside the tube it straightens out (moving the elements inside it) which displaces the needle. See attached picture.

I've done a whole bunch of calibrations on them at work.. for hydraulic/600PSI tyre pressure gauges etc etc.

It's not hard to change the reading on them, in fact it's very easy (if they've got adjustment screws).. but you'll completely screw the rest of the readings up. If it has the ability to be tinkered with, you COULD make it read .8bar at .6bar but the rest of the readings would be completely screwed up.

Does that boost controller work in conjunction with the gauge or is it independant?

Either way, I wouldn't bother.. grab a new gauge and if the controller is independant you could still use that part.. or just sell it to get a turbosmart one.

Mmmm! Seems a bit pointless to sell a boost controller with a gauge for cars that run higher boost levels than what is pictured on the ebay site (Evo, S14 etc)! I think I'd rather have a hidden boost controller (not some thing you will be fiddling with every moment of the day) with a nice looking, separate boost gauge.:)

how are you supposed to check the boost level with the guage in the engine bay, and you driving with the bonnet closed inside the car??

boost would have to be set on the dyno.

lol Macca
no you put the boost controller in the cabin, thats why you get so much tubing
similar to most other manual boost controllers that come with a length of tube so that you can adjust it from the drivers seat.

yeh i was thinking that, but make sure you run it thru some hard plastic tubing, you dont want a damaged hose on the firewall!
