View Full Version : Tyre pressure and wear?

I have noticed the shoulders of my front tyres are wearing very quickly (even for a potent fwd car). I am considering increasing tyre pressure to try and combat this. From memory the recommended pressure is 36psi? What is everyone else running?

maybe try getting a wheel alignment and wheel balance? is it unevenly wearing only on the sides?

Running on stock pressure of 32 psi. But if your overall front tyres are wearing quick, this means you are thrashing hard. However if its uneven wear, then its a wheel alignment issue as said by rukboy11

If the tyre is wearing in the middle it means
1) to higher pressure
2) little bit high pressure and your driving a bit hard

If the ware is on both outside edges
1) under inflated tyres
2) driving a bit hard on and to much either toe in or camber

If the ware is on the outside edge's
1) your driving a bit hard
2) your camber ajustment is out
3) you have hit somthing or the factory wheel alignment is out.

In all cases it's a good idea to go and get a laser wheel alingment done and get any ajustments made that this test show nessasarry even 1/10 of a degree out can have an impact on tire ware.

The tyres fitted are a bit soft so don't expect 40000 ks out of them 10 to 20000ks should see the end of them

Thanks guys. I have booked the car in for alignment next week. I think the wear is just down to soft rubber and too many roundabouts. I wonder what the stock camber settings are on the front. Using a square angle it would appear to be almost zero degrees.

I have worn outside edges on my tyres, after about 1000 miles, i don't spin it often and always move slightly as i get in/out of spaces to reduce wear, it's a colt thing to make us buy new tyres early ! I swapped the front to the back to wear them all, only done 10,000 miles on it so far.

I run 36psi front and back.

Also, because the AD07 wear fast, rotate your wheels every 2000-3000km.
You'll get a little more life out of them.....:)
