obviously, 17 inch is my pick for looks. But i think 16 inch might be enough for RColt.

Me using 17" with 215/40/17. Anyone think we can use 235 width or 17"?

i don't see why we can't use 17 inch. In fact, i have a close look at our car and reckon a 17 x 7 is easy. x 7.5 might even be achieveable too.

if i go for 15" will i have a better response n betta pick up. n will 15" ruin the handling. overall will that be cheaper instead including the rims n tyress

17" are not too big for colt. A lot of colts here in Greece have changed to 17" with no problems and of course in great advantage of the looks!
Of course you need to go with 205/40R17 tires.
I also know one person that has 18" on. That will be me.......so dont worry...17 is not TOO much, it can always get worse

What I think if you use 17inch rim and it will let you pay a lot of petrol cost. Definitely, 17inch will be more attractive on the looking, but it's not good on handling and accellration.

???17 inch will be bad for handling?? If its a 19 inch, yes i agree. But for such a standard 17 inch, it should really be the best size for our rcolt. Even the upgraded rims from Ralliart Catalogue for our rcolt, is a 17 inch.
At least that's what i think......but you may be right. Hence, we need people with 17 inch to tell us how they feel.
As for more petrol money....i think it will be barely noticeable for such a small increase in size.

One of my friend installed Works 17inch rim and it costs him from $1.10/km by using 15inch to $1.50/km for 17inch.....
However, it costs me from $1.00/km by using 15 inch to $1.20/km for 16inch.....so, at least $0.30/Km.....
Maybe there is a small differences in Aus, but HK is not as each Litre of petrol in HK cost about $13.00/L......

Hi Chipokae,
Yes, I come from HK. Up to now, there is no VR in HK yet, but the dealer imported one demo car for having motor show in weekend. Maybe I will go there to have a look.
My COLT is "Colt Ralliart" which is the previous model of VR.

that's a load of crap. upgrading to 17 inch wheels wont affect petrol consumption at all!

Wouldn't say its crap as the guy did do his calculation by the money spent. Plus, in theory, its true too due to the extra effort needed to overcome the extra friction caused by the extra surface area.

I didn't really make myself clear before because I was posting from my Nintendo Wii :P.
What I meant was, any person who upgrades to 17 inch wheels, logically, would make sure that they don't increase the actual rolling diameter over the 16 inch setup.
I did the maths - by going from 205/45/R16 to 205/40/R17, you are effectively increasing the rolling diameter by 4.9mm, or in simple terms, basically nothing :P
What I'm saying is you've obviously put tyres on the car that are either too wide, or the profile is too high. Not only are you affecting your fuel consumption, you are also affecting the performance of your car.
Why would you do that? 205/40/R17 is the largest I would go on the Colt - 215/35/R18 if I didn't care about performance.
