I'm not sure if I understood what you just said, but anyway

There are two lights in the instrument cluster:

i) Picture of a car out of control - Illuminates when car has ASC enabled and car is loosing traction. (It flashes)

and

ii) 'ASC OFF' - Illuminates when ASC has been disabled. In the AUS version of the Ralliart Colt, it is disabled by depressing the 'ASC OFF' button located below the fog lamp switch. To disable ASC, push and hold the 'ASC OFF' button for approx. 4 seconds. After approx 4 seconds the 'ASC OFF' annunciator in the instrument cluster illuminates to an orange 'advisory' colour.

Hope that helps.

Seems to be a few people asking about this, maybe it should be sticky.

so i need to press and hold for about 4 sec then the cluster's "ASC OFF" light will lit is it???
currently both the "car out of control" icon and the "ASC OFF" on my cluster is not light up...does it mean ASC is enabled now??or i need to make sure that the car icon is light up then ASC is enabled???iam abit confuse about this...sorry for such a noob question..because my manual are all in japanese..

thanks for replying..

That's correct too. When both that 2 lights' off, ASC is in "only ready but no ON" mode. Will only even engage when your car's out of control.

the lil car skidding pic will only light up when one or more wheels loose traction.

I also this this light has a memory function, it remembers i lightly spin wheels al the time, so it take me to spin the up a lil more to get it to light up now days lol

Does anyone have a curcuit diagram of that switch and where it's routed to on the ASC control box? Can't be disabled in my ForFour :(

Pin 26 on the ACS ECU is grounded when the switch is pushed down, so if you have a momentry switch ground it and it would do the same. BUT i cannot guarentee is the same pin outs on the smart

Maybe I should take a picture of the ASC ECU, just to compare it to yours? :)

the abs ecu is built into the abs box in the engine bay, but hard to compare to, and manufactures may just change pins on the same part, and have it a different part number.

I'll just try it, I've still got warranty :P

hey macca, does that mean that the clock speed is relatively slow in the ASC control box given that it takes 4 seconds to enable the circuit? or do you think it'd just be a condition to be met before latching the ground. (flipflop?)

the reason i ask is that some people may want a minor mod to disable the ASC function immediately. i'm not really bothered with turning the mode off, but am more interested in the way the circuit works.

Nope, i would say its a safty reson, so you dont accedntly bump the acs switch off, Your required to hold it down, so you really know your turning it off.

And removing the fuse would be bad, it would mess the abs up too, and the EBD system. as they are all in one unit.

but when you turn off the ASC system ,the ABS are still working but not sure about the EBD ,so just wonder there is no way you can turn off the ASC permantly ?

ABS and EBD work when ACS is off, i can guarentee this, as when i was at wakefield parl, i hit ABS on all 4 wheels with ACS off.

The standard ACS ECU boot up procedure is to have it turned on, so No there is no way to perminantly have it off, i dont see why you would want it off all the time.

Hi everyone

thought I just post my question under this topic...

Would the "car out of control - skidding" icon be lighted/activated even when ASC is in OFF mode?? Tks!
