As you would put it im a 1964 model but as far as insurance goes and if you live in a high risk area like Bankstown forget it you only save cents.
Some of the other members of this forum who are under 30 & who live in lower risk areas with same sort of driving records pay at a minium $600 a year less one pays $850 less than the $1800+ I have to falk out with a spot on record and 60%+ NCD protected.
I asked every major company and ended up with the NRMA as they might charge a bit more for their Insurance but if you want to get a CTP Greenslip through them you save around $280.
The cheapest other quote I got was from AAMI and Just Car who both came in at $1680 and then you have to add the $280 extra for your CTP an im over $1900 So it's a no win situation.

twenty seven.
Eek that's expensive.. I went with AAMI because (a) they worked out the cheapest for me and (b) they have the awesome flexi-premium thing. So in my case, I have paid expensive insurance for the past 10 years, and never made a single claim. So with a $2000 total excess (flexi-premium), my annual premium is just $384. I.e. almost free. Awesome for fully comprehensive insurance.. If I don't claim for a couple of years, I have saved a bucketload, and if I then need to make a claim, then the savings just go back into paying the $2000 excess etc. So you don't lose. The only way I could lose is really to need like 3 claims very close together etc, extremely unlikely, although yeah still possible.
If you never park your car in a dodgy area EVER, always try to avoid congested areas full of maniac/hectic/stressed city drivers and really look out for your car, I think this is a great option.

To risky here as I live shop and work in the Bankstown area (Scum Bag Capital of Australia).
A lot of the drivers around here still think they are driving a camel or pulling a rickshaw around. Sum can't even see out from under their clothing that obscures their vision and if they run into you, you have their family friends and solicitor there within 30 seconds. Then you have to look behind you for 6 months to make sure you don't get a knive in the ribs.
Then to top it off if it is not welded down it's theirs and it's sucked in mait Get %^^*d if you say something. Most of them don't give a stuff about your new car but God help you if you so much as brake wind next to theirs.
 One Lady with a who most likly cound not see from under her headdress said after her son opened her door on my new Rcolt said " What's your F problem it's only a little dint".
 I answered "Can I kick your doors in if dinting mine is ok" knowing her husband was standing next to her.
See answered F you Ill kill you C&&*
They don't care thats why we have to pay such high premiums I just called AMMI and asked them they said the premium would be $642 and $2500 excess and at the rate things happen to cars around here I think Ill be better off with NRMA.

Ahh that's filthy!! I am definitely having some sympathy for you having to put up with that crap. That woman deserves to chew on a grenade.
Man, maybe let them all run each other into the ground and time to leave town.
Come and get a job in Canberra. The place is extremely dusty and dry and ugly because of the severe lack of rain this summer, everyone's lawn looks completely brown like a desert. But there is definitely MUCH less of that kind of caper around here. More newer/expensive cars on average and more of a professional/working type mentality on average in the town.

 Was Born in Albury and spent most of my childhood in that part of the world yes it is definatly more civilised. If my partner would have moved I would have moved to Darwin where none of the above crap happens and I would have been Manager by now. So another lesson, Love cost you more than you want to pay and takes you further than you ever thort you'd go.

I am 25,
my premium is just under $800, with the standard $400 excess. Rego for me was approx $220 or so.
not too bad considering ive had two previous accident claims ranging from $2000 to $4000 dmg.
